De Kromme Watergang is a restaurant located in Slijkplaat, Hoofdplaat in the Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in the period 2005–2011. Much to their surprise, they were rewarded two Michelin stars in 2012. GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 18.5 out of 20 points in its guide for 2013.De Kromme Watergang is a member of Les Patrons Cuisiniers.

Schoondijke is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is located in the municipality of Sluis, about 5 km south of Breskens.

Turkeye is a hamlet of Sluis, a municipality located in the west of Zeelandic Flanders, in the south-western part of the Netherlands. Even though the village is regular village in the province of Zeeland, the name Turkeye is probably an old spelling for Modern Dutch Turkije (English: Turkey, Türkiye in Turkish). The name supposedly derives from relations between the Ottoman Turks and the Netherlands. The name of the road to this village is Turkijeweg which means Turkey Road in Dutch. The town has 19 inhabitants. The largest part of the houses in the hamlet serves as a holiday home. The hamlet of Turkeye was part of the municipality of Waterlandkerkje from 1796 to 1970. In 1970 this municipality merged with the municipality of Oostburg, which in turn was merged into the municipality of Sluis. The history of Turkeye starts after the conquest of Sluis in 1604 by the State army. The defeated Spanish troops withdrew and left 1500 galley slaves, among whom a large number of Muslims from the Ottoman Empire, referred to in short as Turcken. The States-General decided to release these slaves and to send the Turks back to their homeland. So they hoped to acquire the support of the Ottoman Empire in the fight against Spain. However, the so-called Flemish Turks have once again been enslaved in Marseille and have not been able to reach the Ottoman Empire. Prince Maurits may have attached the name Turkeye as an extra tribute to the Schans Turkeye, which was constructed in the same year 1604 and to which the nearby hamlet would later be named.A bond has grown between the neighbourhood Turkeye and the Turkish community in the Netherlands and Turkey. A few inhabitants of the hamlet are involved, as well as the Stichting Vriendschapsband Nederland-Turkije. There are regular visits by Turkish delegations and dignitaries such as diplomats. There are also place name signs Turkeye, gem. Sluis placed in the Turkish cities of Dalaman and Trabzon, where many Dutch tourists come. In 2012 it was celebrated that there are 400 years of diplomatic relations between Turkey and the Netherlands: In 1612 the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands was recognized by the Ottoman Empire.

Vlissingen (English name: Flushing) is a terminus railway station in Vlissingen, Netherlands. The station opened on 1 September 1873. The station is at the western end of the Roosendaal–Vlissingen railway and has 3 platforms. This station is less than 100 metres (330 ft) short of being the westernmost station in the Netherlands: that is Vlissingen Souburg, the second station in Vlissingen. The station Vlissingen was formerly called Station Vlissingen-Haven. The station was largely destroyed in World War II. A new station was built in 1950, designed by Sybold van Ravesteyn, using some parts of the 19th century structure such as the platforms.The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen and the bus services by Connexxion.

The Vlissingen train accident took place on 2 June 1899 in Vlissingen, Netherlands when a passenger train derailed upon ramming the buffer stop of the Vlissingen station after their brakes failed to operate properly, resulting in the deaths of 3 people with a further 2 injured.

Saint James the Great Church is a large Protestant church in the city of Flushing, Netherlands. The building is on the Old Market (Oude Markt); around are the streets called Branderijstraat and Lepelstraat. The original Roman Catholic church of the city, it has belonged to the Dutch Reformed Church since 1572, which became the Protestant Church in the Netherlands in 2004. The church is pseudo-basilican in style; the aisles are almost as wide as the nave, the three aisles each have their own vault and the nave rises above the aisles, although a clerestory is missing.

The Battle of Flushing was a naval battle of the Eighty Years' War, fought on April 17, 1573 near the city of Flushing, Netherlands. The Spanish fleet was led by Sancho d'Avila, the Dutch fleet by Lieven Keersmaker. The Dutch fleet initially left Flushing, but returned when the Spanish fleet was hit by the city's cannons. Five Spanish ships were seized, but the remainder managed to reach the cities of Middelburg and Arnemuiden.

Waterlandkerkje is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is located in the municipality of Sluis. The village was first mentioned in 1740 as "de Kerk op Waterland, en doorgaans Nieuw of Klein Kerkje geheeten", and means "little church of Waterland". Waterland was a region which was flooded in 1375. The church was established around 1670 by Protestants who went to church in Waterland-Oudeman in the Spanish Netherlands (nowadays: Belgium), but who were removed by force by the Catholics. The church originally stood in Waterland-Oudeman but was moved across the border. The church burned down in 1708, and was rebuilt in 1713.Waterlandkerkje was a separate municipality until 1970, when it was merged with Oostburg. In 2003, it became part of the municipality of Sluis.

Ritthem is a village in the Dutch province of Zeeland. It is located in the municipality of Vlissingen, about 4 kilometres east of the city.

Vlissingen (Dutch: [ˈvlɪsɪŋə(n)] ; Zeelandic: Vlissienge), historically known in English as Flushing, is a municipality and a city in the southwestern Netherlands on the former island of Walcheren. With its strategic location between the Scheldt river and the North Sea, Vlissingen has been an important harbour for centuries. It was granted city rights in 1315. In the 17th century Vlissingen was a main harbour for ships of the Dutch East India Company (VOC). It is also known as the birthplace of Admiral Michiel de Ruyter. Vlissingen is mainly noted for the yards on the Scheldt where most of the ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy (Koninklijke Marine) are built.
