Swarthmoor is a small village near Ulverston, in Cumbria, England. Located on the Furness peninsula, it was historically part of Lancashire.

St Michael's Church is in the village of Pennington, Cumbria, England. It is an active Anglican parish church in the deanery of Furness, the archdeaconry of Westmorland and Furness, and the diocese of Carlisle. Its benefice is united with those of Holy Trinity, Bardsea, and St Peter, Lindal and Marton. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

The Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Britain, also known as the Britain Yearly Meeting (and, until 1995, the London Yearly Meeting), is a Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in England, Scotland, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. It is the national organisation of Quakers living in Britain. Britain Yearly Meeting refers to both the religious gathering and the organisation. "Yearly Meeting", or "Yearly Meeting Gathering" are usually the names given to the annual gathering of British Quakers. Quakers in Britain is the name the organisation is commonly known by.

Swarthmoor Hall is a mansion at Swarthmoor, in the Furness area of Cumbria, North West England. Furness was formerly part of Lancashire. The Hall was home to Thomas and Margaret Fell, the latter an important player in the founding of the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) movement in the 17th century. It is designated by English Heritage as a Grade II* listed building. It remains in use today as a Quaker retreat house.

Pennington is a small village and civil parish in Furness, a region of Cumbria, England. Pennington lies between Ulverston, Rosside and Lindal. Pennington is located just off the nearby A590, with the nearest railway link in Ulverston.

The Furness Fells are a multitude of hills and mountains in the Furness region of Cumbria, England. Historically part of Lancashire, the Furness Fells or High Furness is the name given to the upland part of Furness, that is, that part of Furness lying north of the line between Ulverston and Ireleth. The hills lie largely within the English Lake District. The term Furness Fells is also sometimes used as a synonym with Coniston Fells, perhaps partly as a result of the placing of the words "Furness Fells" on some Ordnance Survey 1:250 000 maps. The Coniston Fells properly form only part of the Furness Fells, albeit with all the highest mountains; other fells in Furness are of lower altitude. The Coniston Fells form part of the Southern Fells of the Lake District as defined by Alfred Wainwright.

Ulverston Victoria High School (UVHS) is a secondary school and sixth form located in the town of Ulverston, Cumbria, England. It is the successor school to Ulverston Grammar School and Victoria Secondary Modern, which were combined in 1967 to form Ulverston Comprehensive School. This school ultimately became UVHS.

Osmotherley is a civil parish in South Lakeland, Cumbria, England, extending north from Ulverston. The village of Broughton Beck is the largest settlement in the parish. Before local government reorganization in 1974, Osmotherley was in Lancashire. Since 2003 it has a joint parish council with Mansriggs and Egton with Newland.The only listed building in the parish is St John the Evangelist's Church (grade II).At the 2011 census Osmotherley was grouped with Mansriggs giving a total population of 302.

Broughton Beck is a village in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, England. The village has two sections; one part is on the B5281 Ulverston to Gawthwaite Road, the other part of the village is about 250 yards away, to the north. In the past the village served the farms in the surrounding area; there used to be a public house, a shop, a garage, a blacksmith and a mill. The mill building was bequeathed to the village in 1937 and now serves as Broughton Beck Village Hall, known as 'The Mill Room.

The Furness Hoard is a hoard of Viking silver coins and other artefacts dating to the 9th and 10th Century that was discovered in Furness, Cumbria, England in May 2011 by an unnamed metal detectorist. The exact location of the find, as well as the names of the finder and the landowner, have not been made public.

Its benefice is united with St Mary with Holy Trinity, Ulverston. The church is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Heaning Wood Bone Cave is a cave of archaeological importance in Great Urswick, Cumbria, England.The cave was first excavated by Holland in 1958, when he found Bronze Age pottery, human and animal bones, and a stone-flake knife of Langdale stone.In January 2023 it was reported that human bone and a periwinkle shell bead, found in the cave by local archaeologist Martin Stables, had been dated to 11,000 years ago, making it one of the earliest identified locations for human presence in the north of England. At least eight individuals had been buried in the cave, from the early Bronze Age (4,000 years ago), the early Neolithic period (6,000 years ago) and the early Mesolithic period (11,000 years ago).
