Cleveland Township is a civil township of Leelanau County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population of Cleveland Township was 1,103 at the 2020 census. Part of the township is located within Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Lime Lake is a freshwater lake located in Cleveland Township, Leelanau County, Michigan, approximately two miles north of the Village of Maple City, Michigan. The lake is located in a basin setting of wooded rolling sand hills approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Good Harbor Bay and the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The M-22, a State of Michigan scenic heritage route, skirts Lime Lake to the north.

Maple City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Leelanau County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population of Maple City was 209 at the 2020 census. The community is located within Kasson Township, and lies about 13 miles (21 km) northwest of Traverse City. As an unincorporated community, Maple City holds no legal autonomy of its own, and relies on governance from Kasson Township. Kasson Township ( KA-ssən) is a civil township of Leelanau County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,647 as of the 2020 census. A small portion of the township is included in the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

The Port Oneida Rural Historic District is a historic district located along M-22 between Glen Arbor and Lake Leelanau in Leelanau County, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017.

Glen Lake is a lake located in Northern Michigan. Located in the southwestern Leelanau Peninsula, the lake is directly adjacent to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, and is, at its closest, about 0.94 miles (1.51 km) from Lake Michigan. The lake consists of two large bodies of water connected by a narrow channel, which is traversed by a causeway carrying the famous highway M-22. The body of water on the west of this causeway, which is far shallower and more elongated, is known as Little Glen Lake, and the body of water east of the causeway, which is nearly perfectly round and deeper, is known as Big Glen Lake. The total area of Glen Lake is 6,286 acres (25 km2), with a maximum depth 130 feet (40 m). The lake empties into Lake Michigan via the shallow Crystal River which winds through Glen Arbor.

The Leelanau School is a co-educational non-profit boarding high school located in Glen Arbor, Michigan. The school was founded in 1929 and has a historical association with Christian Science. The school is a small, college-preparatory school with 42 acres (170,000 m2) of land with 13 year-round and 9 seasonal building structures. The school has a teacher-to-student ratio between 1:6 and 1:10 for most classes, ranking among the top 20 American boarding schools in that category. It has a diverse student body, boasting an international enrollment of over 10%. The school is located on the shore of Lake Michigan just outside Glen Arbor, with the Crystal River running through the property. The Lanphier Observatory, with a 13-inch (330 mm) Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector telescope, is also located on the grounds.

The Crystal River is a 6.3-mile-long (10.1 km) stream located in the southwest section of Leelanau County in northern Michigan's Lower Peninsula, flowing from Glen Lake through sections of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore into Lake Michigan just north of the small town of Glen Arbor. Although the straight-line distance between Glen Lake and Lake Michigan is only 1.2 miles (1.9 km), the river meanders through swamp lands for more than 5 times that distance. The river is popular with kayakers, rafters and canoe enthusiasts, with two outfitters located in the village of Glen Arbor. For the most part, the depth of the river is no more than 1 foot (0.30 m), and the width averages 15 to 20 feet (4.6 to 6.1 m) with a sandy bottom, making it ideal for families, beginning canoeists and kayakers. There are a few portages where the river flows through drainage pipes under the County Road. There is one flood control dam on the river, just past its source on Glen Lake. The Crystal is also popular with fly fishermen and has a large population of brook and rainbow trout. The river is also a run for lake trout and salmon species coming from Lake Michigan into Glen Lake. Numerous cottages are located along the lower reaches of the river from Glen Arbor to its mouth emptying into Lake Michigan. Groves of cedar, tamarack and paper birch, as well as the swamp lands bordering the banks, make the river an ideal habitat for turtles, frogs, beavers, muskrats and otters. Bald eagles, heron, ducks, swans and many other species of birds may be sighted along the river. There is a concerted effort by state and local authorities to improve and restore the Crystal River Watershed to conditions that will sustain native plant and animal species.

The Leelanau Peninsula AVA is an American Viticultural Area located in Leelanau County, Michigan. This Michigan wine region includes all of Leelanau County, which forms a peninsula between Lake Michigan on the west and Grand Traverse Bay on the east. Being surrounded by water helps to moderate the climate of the region, which is generally cold for viticulture. Frost can occur on all but about 145 days of the calendar year. The soil in Leelanau Peninsula is complex, with glacial deposits of clay, sand, and loam on top of bedrock of granite and limestone. The hardiness zones are 6a and 6b.

Good Harbor, Michigan is a former community in Centerville Township, Leelanau County, Michigan. Located along Lake Michigan, the village was established in the mid-1870s when a sawmill was built there. The village grew to include a hotel, stores, a saloon, a school, a post office, and a 500-foot-long dock. In 1905, the sawmill burned down. The town was abandoned, with the post office closing in 1907. The remaining buildings were torn down in 1924. Today, the site of the former town is part of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore.

Cedar is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Leelanau County in the U.S. State of Michigan. The CDP had a population of 102 at the 2020 census. Cedar is located within Solon Township, and lies about 10 miles (16 km) northwest of Traverse City. The town is known for its Polish heritage, and is home to an annual polka festival.As an unincorporated community, Cedar has no legal autonomy of its own. However, it does have its own post office with the 49621 ZIP Code.
