Birmingham Aston was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. From 1918 to 1974 it elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first-past-the-post system of election.

Alpha Television was a British limited company which operated television studios in Aston, Birmingham from 1956 to 1970.

St Mary's Church, Aston Brook is a former parish church in the Church of England in Birmingham. The church was demolished in the 1970s. The church was built in 1863 to designs of the architect James Murray. It was consecrated by Henry Philpott, Bishop of Worcester, on Thursday 10 December 1863. The tower was added in 1882. The church was equipped with a two manual pipe organ by Norman and Beard. A specification of the organ can be found on the National Pipe Organ Register.In 1864, a parish was formed out of the parishes of St. Peter and St. Paul, Aston, St Silas’ Church, Lozells, and St Matthew's Church, Duddeston. The church opened a school for Girls and Infants in 1868.The church is noted for having a rugby club which played a match against a team from Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel in Handsworth. For the team from Villa Cross Wesleyan Chapel, this was their first match as Aston Villa Football Club. As a condition of the match, the Villa side had to agree to play the first half under rugby football rules and the second half under association football rules.

King Edward VI Aston School is a selective, all-boys grammar school and specialist sports college. The school, designed by Birmingham architect J.A. Chatwin, opened in 1883 and is still, with additional buildings, located on its original site, in the Aston area of Birmingham, England. King Edward VI Aston Grammar School does not charge tuition fees; pupils must pass an 11-plus entrance exam to get into the school. The King Edward Schools are fiercely competitive to get admission to. The King Edward VI Foundation holds its exams at the same time, and generally, a candidiate will sit one exam for multiple schools within the foundation. The school is part of the Foundation of the Schools of King Edward VI, which runs nine schools in Birmingham. Currently, Aston has 963 boys.The current headteacher is Matt Brady.

The Windsor Street Gasworks was a coal gas and coke manufacturing site in Nechells, Birmingham. The works were constructed in 1846 for the Birmingham Gas Light and Coke Company adjacent to the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal to allow for the bulk import of coal. The company was taken over by the Birmingham Corporation in 1875 and under mayor Joseph Chamberlain and engineer Charles Hunt the Windsor Street site was expanded and connected to the London and North Western Railway. Hunt's works included the construction, in 1885, of gasholders No. 13 and No.14, the largest in the world at that time, as well as modernisation of production. The Corporation continued to develop the site in the early 20th century and it became home to the largest continuous vertical retort set-up in the world. It was also the first to utilise steam from the retorts to help power machinery on the site. Gasholder No. 12, higher than No. 13 and 14, was built in 1934. The gasworks transferred to the West Midlands gas board during nationalisation in 1948 and, later to British Gas. The site ended production in 1974 due to the availability of natural gas from the North Sea. The three large gasholders remained in use until 2012 and became a familiar landmark, painted in the colours of local football club Aston Villa F.C. Now owned by National Grid plc, the gasholders are in the process of demolition.

Aston Hall is a Grade I listed Jacobean house in Aston, Birmingham, England, designed by John Thorpe and built between 1618 and 1635. It is a leading example of the Jacobean prodigy house. In 1864, the house was bought by Birmingham Corporation, becoming the first historic country house to pass into municipal ownership, and is still owned by Birmingham City Council. It is now a community museum managed by the Birmingham Museums Trust and, following a major renovation completed in 2009, is open to the public spring to winter.

Aston Arena (formerly Aston Villa Leisure Centre and Aston Events Centre) was an indoor sports and event venue located in Birmingham, England. The venue was situated adjacent to Villa Park, home of Aston Villa F.C. of the Premier League.The venue played host to many sporting events, and was the home of the basketball teams Birmingham Bullets, Birmingham Athletics and Birmingham Panthers. Artists that performed at the venue include Bob Dylan, Black Sabbath, Paul Weller, Nirvana, Manic Street Preachers, The B52's and Morrissey, among others.

Big City Radio (formerly Aston FM) is a British community radio station based in Aston, Birmingham. The station, owned and operated by Murfin Music International, broadcasts on 89.1FM in Aston and surrounding areas, on DAB and online via the station's website and mobile apps. The station launched on 1 November 2005 as Aston FM, before rebranding as Big City four years later. In November 2017 Big City Radio changed its mainstream output from classic contemporary music to 'Urban' and 'Specialised' programming. In September 2022, the station began to tease a relaunch of the former Birmingham ILR brand BRMB on its website and social media.

St Catherine's Church, Scholefield Street, Nechells is a former Church of England parish church in Birmingham.

Aston railway station serves the districts of Aston and Nechells in Birmingham, England. The passenger entrance is on Lichfield Road. The station is on the Cross-City Line and the Chase Line. It is one of two local stations for Aston Villa Football Club (the other being Witton) and near to the Aston Expressway and to Gravelly Hill Interchange (Spaghetti Junction). The station is situated adjacent to and above the Lichfield Road (A5127), crossed by a bridge as the railway line, part of the original Grand Junction Railway, opened in 1837, is on an embankment through what was "pastoral parkland" at the time of its construction. The line also crosses the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal, just south of Lichfield Road, on a bridge which is all that remains of a longer viaduct of ten arches, described as "one of the most beautiful structures on the line of the Grand Junction".The section of the viaduct crossing Lichfield Road, immediately south of the station, was replaced by a steel bridge in 1906.

St Matthew's Church, Duddeston and Nechells is a Grade II listed parish church in the Church of England in Birmingham.
