Pfaffenhofen an der Roth

Neu-Ulm is a Landkreis (district) in Swabia, Bavaria, Germany. It is bounded by (from the east and clockwise) the districts of Günzburg and Unterallgäu and the state of Baden-Württemberg (districts Biberach and Alb-Donau, city of Ulm). The district was established in 1972 by merging the former districts of Neu-Ulm and Illertissen with the previously district-free city of Neu-Ulm. The district includes the eastern metropolitan area of the city of Ulm. The Danube and its tributary, the Iller, form the western border of the district.

First the Biber crosses the forest of Oberroth. Then the river flows west along the monastery of Roggenburg. Afterwards the river flows through several hamlets and the forest Auwald, into the Danube.

Roggenburg Abbey (Kloster Roggenburg or Reichsstift Roggenburg) is a Premonstratensian canonry in Roggenburg near Neu-Ulm, Bavaria, in operation between 1126 and 1802, and again from its re-foundation in 1986. Since 1992 it has been a dependent priory of Windberg Abbey in Lower Bavaria (Roggenburg Priory). The monastery manages a training centre and a museum, and is widely known for its almost unchanged Baroque building and the organ concerts that are held in the church. For over three centuries, Roggenburg was one of the 40-odd self-ruling imperial abbeys of the Holy Roman Empire and, as such, was a virtually independent state. Its abbot had seat and voice at the Imperial Diet where he sat on the Bench of the Prelates of Swabia. At the time of the abbey's dissolution in 1802, its territory covered 112 square kilometers and it had 3,300-5,000 subjects.

The Leibi is a tributary of the Danube in the district of Neu-Ulm, Bavaria, Germany. The source of the Leibi is in the west of an industrial area in Weißenhorn. The river is 23.1 km long. At first the Leibi crosses the industrial area from South to North and the fields north of it. Then the river briefly turns west along a forest area. After that it flows again to north, past the hamlet Hirbishofen (a part of Pfaffenhofen an der Roth), Holzheim and Steinheim (part of the city of Neu-Ulm). Afterwards the Leibi flows twice under the Bundesautobahn 7 and changes its way to northeast. The river traverses a part of Nersingen also named Leibi and flows finally, after a few hundred meters through the forest Auwald, into the Danube.
