Vigo County Home for Dependent Children, also known as the Glenn Home, is a historic orphanage located in Lost Creek Township, Vigo County, Indiana. The main building was built in 1903, and is a 2+1⁄2-story, Colonial Revival style brick building on a raised basement. It has a hipped and gabled roof and features a semi-circular, two-story portico with four Doric order columns. Also on the property is a contributing former boiler house. The main building is the home of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity chapter at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.: 5–6 In the1970's Glenn Home was the location of one of the most abusive orphanages in USA history. The abuses included psychological, emotional, physical and/or sexual on children as young as 10 years of age. Oakley Observatory or Rose–Hulman Observatory (Obs. code: 916) is an astronomical observatory operated by Rose–Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, United States. The Oakley Observatory is a teaching observatory with eight permanently mounted telescopes. One of the telescopes is a six-inch refractor built by Clark and Sons in 1886. The other telescopes are all reflecting telescopes ranging in size from eight to twenty two inches. In addition to being used for astronomy classes students use the observatory for research and recreation. Several minor planets have been discovered at Rose-Hulman, most notably numerous discoveries by American astronomer Chris Wolfe (also see Category:Discoveries by Chris Wolfe).

Rose–Hulman Institute of Technology (RHIT) is a private university in Terre Haute, Indiana. Founded in 1874 in Terre Haute, Rose–Hulman is one of the United States's few undergraduate-focused engineering and technology universities. Though it started with only three bachelor's degree programs, Rose–Hulman has since grown to twelve academic departments with over thirty undergraduate and graduate degree programs in science, engineering, technology, and engineering management, leading to bachelor's and master's degrees. Seelyville is a town in Lost Creek Township, Vigo County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 1,029 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute Metropolitan Statistical Area.

The LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, in Terre Haute, Indiana was dedicated October 17, 1997. This course has the distinction of being one of the few purpose-built cross-country courses in the world. The facility is part of 240 acres (0.97 km2) that comprise the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center just east of the Terre Haute International Airport. The course itself is built on a reclaimed coal mine and consists of an external loop of 3 km and four internal loops that allow for circuits of varying lengths. Indiana State University's Cross-Country team uses the Gibson Course for its home meets. In the short history of the course, it has hosted multiple championship meets. The Gibson Course hosted the NCAA Division I Great Lakes Regional in 1998, 1999, 2001, and 2003, and Division III Regional in 2009 and 2012. The most prominent meet it has hosted has been the Men's and Women's NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships (2002, 2004-2011, 2013-2014, 2016, 2019). In 2004 it also became the host site of the state high school championship meet for Indiana, as well as the Nike Cross Nationals (NXN) Midwest Regional Meet in 2009. It has also hosted numerous invitational and conference championship meets on multiple levels since it opened.
