West Pentire (Cornish: Pentir, meaning promontory) is a hamlet on the north coast of Cornwall in England, United Kingdom. It is located within the civil parish of Crantock, 2.5 miles (4.0 km) west of the town of Newquay.To the west of the hamlet are the West Pentire Fields, which have been designated as an Important Plant Area, by the organisation Plantlife, for its arable flora, especially poppies and corn marigolds. These fields are owned by the National Trust.

The River Gannel (Cornish: Dowr Gwyles, meaning lovage river) rises in the village of Indian Queens in mid Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It flows north under Trevemper Bridge and becomes a tidal estuary, the Gannel (Cornish: An Ganel, meaning the Channel), that divides the town of Newquay from the village of Crantock and joins the Celtic Sea. The Newlyn Downs form part of the catchment area of the river. The principle tributary of the Gannel is the Benny Stream. Since January 2016 the Gannel estuary, as far as the tidal limit, has been part of the Newquay and the Gannel Marine Conservation Zone.

Holywell (Cornish: Tregew) is a coastal village in the civil parish of Cubert (Cornish: Lannowyn), in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is at Holywell Bay (Cornish: Porth Heylyn), about three miles (5 km) west-southwest of Newquay.Holywell beach adjoins the settlement to the northwest and Penhale Camp, formally an army training establishment that was regularly used by cadets, is half-a-mile to the southwest. On the north side of Holywell beach Holywell Cave is accessible at low tide and contains many pools formed by natural buildup of minerals. In the cave is St Cubert's holy well.On the east of the beach, there is a 5,000 year old sand dune system that is one of the largest in Britain. During the summer, tourists can use these dunes for Sandboarding. There are two holiday parks just outside of the village. Holywell Bay Holiday Park, operated by Parkdean Resorts, and Trevornick campsite. W. J. Burley, the author of the Wycliffe novels, lived in Holywell until his death in 2002.Holywell bay is also the residence of both Maia Garner and Louis Garner, athletes that have represented Great Britain in Surf Lifesaving Sport.

Ellenglaze (Cornish: Elynglas) is a hamlet near the village of Cubert north of Perranporth in Cornwall, England. It lies close to the edge of Penhale Sands (dunes).

Penhale Sands (Cornish: Peran Treth, meaning St Piran's sands), or Penhale Dunes, is a complex of sand dunes and a protected area for its wildlife, on the north Cornwall coast in England, UK. It is the most extensive system of sand dunes in Cornwall and is believed to be the landing site of Saint Piran. Dating from the 6th century, St Piran's Oratory is thought to be one of the oldest Christian sites in Britain. The remains were discovered in the late 18th century, and in 2014 the covering sand was removed to reveal a building more than a thousand years old, in a reasonable state of preservation. A restricted military area dating from 1939, Penhale Camp, is found on the northern part of the dunes. The area has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) since 1953 and became a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) in 2004. The South West Coast Path runs through the dunes.

Crantock (Cornish: Lanngorrow) is a coastal civil parish and village in Cornwall, England, two miles (3 km) southwest of Newquay.In 460, a group of Irish hermits founded an oratory there. The village lies to the south of the River Gannel, which forms the boundary between the parishes of Newquay and Crantock. The River Gannel is tidal and ferries operate on a seasonal basis from Fern Pit to Crantock Beach. The River Gannel runs along Crantock Beach and joins the Celtic Sea. The village can be reached from the A3075 road via the junction at Trevemper. The hamlets of Treninnick and West Pentire are in the parish.Large parts of the parish are now in the ownership of the National Trust, including West Pentire headland which is a Site of Special Scientific Interest noted for its wild flowers and rare plants.

St Carantoc's Church, Crantock is in the village of Crantock, Cornwall, England. Since 1951 the church has been designated as a Grade I listed building. It is an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Truro, the archdeaconry of Cornwall and the deanery of Pydar. Its benefice is combined with that of St Cubert.

Cubert (Cornish: Egloskubert) is a village in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is three miles (5 km) south-southwest of Newquay and is in the civil parish of Cubert (Cornish: Lannowyn).Once known as St Cubert, the village is dominated by the spire of its 14th-century church which was enlarged by the addition of a south aisle a century later. The village is named after the Welsh missionary St Cubert who, as a companion of St Carantoc, brought the Christian faith to this part of Cornwall, and to whom the church is dedicated. Unlike his companion St Carantoc—who travelled on to Brittany—St Cubert returned to Wales becoming abbot of his monastery and, according to the Welsh chronicles, dying in 775. The feast of St Cubert is celebrated on the Sunday following 4 October. Gilbert H. Doble included translations of the "Vita Carantoci" and extracts from the "Léon Breviary" in his account of St Carantoc. After reviewing all the evidence he could find he concluded that Carantoc had been the leader of a band of Welsh missionaries who came to the Crantock district to evangelize it; Cubert was among his followers, and after their work in Cornwall was done they went on to Brittany where a district around Léon has place-names and dedications related to these missionary saints. St Cubert's holy well is in a cave accessible only at low tide towards the north end of Holywell Bay.The hamlets of Tresean, Treveal, Trevemper, Treworgans and Ellenglaze are in the parish.

Fistral Beach is in Fistral Bay (Standard Written Form: Porth an Vystel, meaning cove of the foul water) on the north coast of Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated half-a-mile west of Newquay at grid reference SW 797 620.Fistral Bay is bounded by two promontories, Towan Head to the north and Pentire Point East (not to be confused with Pentire Head) to the south.The straight sandy beach faces west-northwest onto the Atlantic and is approximately 750 metres (2,460 ft) long. It is backed by steep sand dunes and is overlooked by the Headland Hotel. The name "Fistral" is recorded as Fistal in 1813, coming from the Cornish bystel meaning "foul water, bile or gall" (compare Welsh bustl) probably in reference to the waves making it an unsuitable landing site.

Fistral Bay Hotel is an abandoned hotel in Newquay, Cornwall, England. it overlooks Fistral Beach and a nearby golf course. The Fistral Bay Hotel thrived during the 1950s and 1960s when Newquay benefited from increasing holiday travel to Cornwall and Devon. After 75 years of business, the hotel closed in 2006, and, after subsequently falling into disrepair, gained local notoriety as "the town’s biggest eyesore".

The Cribbar (Cornish - kribow: reefs), also known as the Widow Maker, is a reef off the Towan Headland in Newquay, Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The Cribbar is best known for creating annual big waves, popular with experienced big wave surfers from across the world. Wave faces can be in excess of 30 ft (9.1 m). The Zorba is a reef 2 miles (3.2 km) further off the coast and can create even higher waves.
