Çeştepe

Aydın ( EYE-din; Turkish: [ˈajdɯn]; formerly named Güzelhisar; Greek: Τράλλεις) is a city in and the seat of Aydın Province in Turkey's Aegean Region. The city is located at the heart of the lower valley of Büyük Menderes River (ancient Meander River) at a commanding position for the region extending from the uplands of the valley down to the seacoast. The city forms the urban part of the Efeler district, with a population of 259,027 in 2022. Aydın city is located along a region which was famous for its fertility and productivity since ancient times. Figs remain the province's best-known crop, although other agricultural products are also grown intensively and the city has some light industry. At the crossroads of a busy transport network of several types, a six-lane motorway connects Aydın to İzmir, Turkey's second port, in less than an hour, and in still less time to the international Adnan Menderes Airport, located along the road between the two cities. A smaller airport, namely Aydın Airport, is located a few kilometers in the South-East of Aydın. The region of Aydın also pioneered the introduction of railways into Turkey in the 19th century and still has the densest railroad network. The province of Aydın is also where a number of internationally known historic sites and centers of tourism are concentrated.

Tralles (Ancient Greek:Τράλλεις) was a colonia (town) of the Hellenic, Roman and Byzantine empires, later known as Andronicopolis (Ανδρονικούπολις). Tralles was sacked by the Turks in 1284, but remains today a titular see of the Roman Catholic Church. A new Turkish city, Aydın, was built in its place.

Efeler is a municipality and district of Aydın Province, Turkey. Its area is 124 km2, and its population is 303,772 (2022). The district was established as a part of the 2013 local government reorganisation from the former central district of Aydın. The name Aydın was reserved for the metropolitan municipality. Efeler is the plural of the title Efe and it refers to the irregular soldiers from the Aegean Region who fought during the Turkish War of Independence.

Aydın Archaeological Museum (Turkish: Aydın Arkeoloji Müzesi) is in Aydın, western Turkey. Established in 1959, it contains numerous statues, tombs, columns and stone carvings from the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman periods, unearthed in ancient cities such as Alinda, Alabanda, Amyzon, Harpasa, Magnesia on the Maeander, Mastaura, Myus, Nisa, Orthosia, Piginda, Pygela and Tralleis. The museum also has a section devoted to ancient coin finds.

Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU) is a state university established in Aydın in 1992. The university began its education in Aydın and Nazilli in 1992 with five faculties (Science-Literature, Nazilli School of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Medicine, Veterinary, and Agriculture faculties), three institutes, the School of Tourism and Hotel Management, and the School of Vocational Studies in Söke. Currently, the university has 14 faculties, 3 institutes, 1 State Conservatory, 5 Colleges, 18 Vocational Schools, and 24 Application and Research Centers. In 2016, in addition to the Central, Çakmar, Işıklı, İsabeyli, Didim Akbük, Nazilli Sümer, Çine Süleyman Pekgüzel, and Karacasu Muzaffer Özuysal Campuses, it continues its activities in 17 separate locations including Kuşadası, Atça, Sultanhisar, Yenipazar, Söke, Davutlar, Bozdoğan, Köşk, and Buharkent districts. In the 2021-22 academic year, a total of 46,198 students were enrolled, including 17,196 associate degree, 25,417 undergraduate, 2,829 master's, and 756 doctoral students. As of 2022, the university had a total of 1,880 academic staff, including 369 professors, 251 associate professors, 307 doctors, 412 lecturers, and 541 research assistants. Adnan Menderes University (In Turkish: Adnan Menderes Üniversitesi) was founded in Aydın, Turkey in 1992. The name of the university comes from the former Turkish Prime Minister Adnan Menderes.

Ovaeymir is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Efeler, Aydın Province, Turkey. Its population is 6,942 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (belde). The motorway O.31 separates it from the Aydın conurbation. The original location of Ovaeymir was by the Büyükmenderes river side. But the present Ovaeymir was founded after the original settlement was hit by a flood disaster about two centuries ago. In 1994, the settlement was declared a seat of township. The main economic sector of the town of Ovaeymir is agriculture and some residents work as construction workers in Aydın.

Yeniköy is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Efeler, Aydın Province, Turkey. Its population is 2,006 (2022).

Tepecik is a neighbourhood of the municipality and district of Efeler, Aydın Province, Turkey. Its population is 4,043 (2022). Before the 2013 reorganisation, it was a town (belde). Tepecik is to the south east of Aydın city center.

Aydın Çıldır Airport (IATA: CII, ICAO: LTBD) is an airport located southeast of the city of Aydın, in the Aydın Province of Turkey. DHMI has transferred the operation of this airport to Turkish Airlines for 20 years on 20 June 2012 after a public tender. Turkish Airlines Flight Academy has operated a flying school here since June 2013.

Yılmazköy is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Efeler, Aydın Province, Turkey. Its population is 1,014 (2022). The village is inhabited by Tahtacı.

Işıklı is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Efeler, Aydın Province, Turkey. Its population is 4,830 (2022).

Kadıköy is a neighbourhood in the municipality and district of Efeler, Aydın Province, Turkey. Its population is 1,752 (2022).
