Central Baldwin

Eastern Shore is the geographic eastern shoreline of Mobile Bay in southwest Alabama. It extends from just north of Interstate 10 to the southeastern end of the bay near Weeks Bay. Since there is no official boundary set for the "Eastern Shore" its usage is subject to change. However, broadly speaking, the area is bounded by U.S. Highway 31 to the north, U.S. Highway 98 to the south, State Route 181 to the east and Mobile Bay to the west.

The United States Post Office in Fairhope, Alabama, is a historic United States Post Office building built in 1932, in the Italian Renaissance Revival architectural style. It currently houses the offices of the Fairhope Courier. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

The Bank of Fairhope, at 396 Fairhope Ave. in Fairhope, Alabama, was built in 1927. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.It has also been known as the Press Register Building. It was designed by Mobile architect William March in Classical Revival style. It was built of hollow clay tile supplied by the Clay Products Company, a local firm.

Tolstoy Park (also known as the Henry Stuart House and the Hermit House) is a historic residence in Montrose, Alabama. The house was built by Henry Stuart, an Englishman who had emigrated to the United States as a child. Stuart was living in Nampa, Idaho, when he was diagnosed with tuberculosis and advised to move to a warmer climate to live out his days. In 1923, he purchased 10 acres (4 ha) outside Fairhope, Alabama, which he named Tolstoy Park. Stuart began building a circular, domed hut in 1925, pouring each concrete block himself. Construction was completed in less than a year, although delayed by a hurricane in September 1926. The house is about 14 feet (4.2 m) in diameter and sunk 2 feet (61 cm) into the ground. Six top-hinged windows circle the building, and there were two skylights in the roof that are now permanently closed. Stuart sought to live a simple life, growing much of his own food and weaving rugs on a loom he brought from Idaho. He kept a guestbook for visitors to sign; notably, lawyer Clarence Darrow visited the hut six times. Stuart left Alabama in 1944, moving to Oregon to live with his son, where he died in 1946. Today, the hut and a large oak tree are all that remain of Stuart's estate; a parking lot for a real estate office surrounds the hut. A novel based on Stuart's life, The Poet of Tolstoy Park, was published in 2005. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

Fairhope is a city in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States, located on the eastern shoreline of Mobile Bay. The population was 22,477 at the 2020 census. Fairhope is a principal city of the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley metropolitan area, which includes all of Baldwin County.

The Beckner House (also known as the Baker House) is a historic residence in Fairhope, Alabama, United States. The house was built in 1906 for J. M. Beckner, a single-taxer from Illinois. The house sustained minor damage in the 1906 hurricane. A fish market was operated out of the home from the 1920s until Hurricane Frederic in 1979. It was renovated into a bed and breakfast and restaurant in 1998. The original portion of the house is a one and a half story, cross-gable structure. A later addition extended the building parallel to the street. The original block has a two-bay façade with a single-height shed roofed porch. The original paired one-over-one windows on the left of the first floor and on the front gable have been replaced with three-over-one. The original block has three rooms and a hall on the each floor.

Montrose, also known as Sibley City, is an unincorporated community in Baldwin County, Alabama, United States along the eastern shore of Mobile Bay.Montrose is part of the Daphne–Fairhope–Foley Micropolitan Statistical Area. Montrose has two sites included on the National Register of Historic Places, the Henry Stuart House and the Montrose Historic District.

The Montrose Historic District is a historic district comprising fifteen historically significant buildings in the community of Montrose, Alabama. The district is almost entirely residential, with the exception of the 1890 Montrose Post Office. Montrose is located on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, and several homes in the district occupy bayfront lots. Nine of the homes in the district were designed in the Creole cottage style, a vernacular architectural style popular in the Gulf Coast states. The Creole cottage homes in the district all feature front facades with five bays and recessed full-length front porches supported by square or chamfered columns. Many of the houses were built as summer homes for residents of Mobile, for whom Montrose was a popular vacation destination.The district was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 3, 1976.

The American Legion Post 199 in Fairhope, Alabama is situated on a bluff overlooking Mobile Bay. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2018. It has also been known as Pine Needles and as the Mobile Business Women's Club. It was the Pine Needles Club."Past", "Present", and "Future" images at its website show a pleasing past appearance, including picturesque porches, is intended to be restored for the future. Its NRHP listing was anticipated.

Lebanon Chapel AME Church is a historic African Methodist Episcopal church bounded by Young Street on the West and Middle Street on the North in Fairhope, Alabama. It was built in 1923 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Jubilee is the name used locally for a natural phenomenon that occurs sporadically on the shores of Mobile Bay, a large body of water on Alabama's Gulf Coast. During a jubilee many species of crab and shrimp, as well as flounder, eels, and other demersal fish will leave deeper waters and swarm—in large numbers and very high density—in a specific, shallower coastal area of the bay. A jubilee is a celebrated event in Mobile Bay, and it attracts large crowds, many drawn by the promise of abundant and easy-to-catch seafood.Although similar events have been reported in other bodies of water, Mobile Bay is the only place where the regular appearance of this phenomenon has been documented.
