San Diego County District Attorney

The San Diego County Public Defender's office is an agency of the government of San Diego County, California. It provides legal assistance to individuals charged with a crime in state court who are financially unable to retain private counsel. The office consists of the Primary Public Defender, the Alternate Public Defender, the Office of Assigned Counsel & the Multiple Conflicts Office. Mental health and juvenile court matters are handled by special units within the divisions.Courts within their jurisdiction include the San Diego Superior Court, the California Court of Appeal for the Fourth District, and the California Supreme Court. The San Diego County District Attorney and the San Diego City Attorney prosecute alleged felony and misdemeanor violations of California state law that occur within the jurisdiction of San Diego County. Alleged federal law violations by indigent defendants are defended by the Federal Defenders of San Diego Inc.

San Diego County ( ), officially the County of San Diego (Spanish: Condado de San Diego), is a county in the southwestern corner of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 3,298,634, making it California's second-most populous county and the fifth-most populous in the United States. Its county seat is San Diego, the second-most populous city in California and the eighth-most populous city in the United States. It is the southwesternmost county in the 48 contiguous United States, and is a border county. It is also home to 18 Native American tribal reservations, the most of any county in the United States. San Diego County comprises the San Diego-Chula Vista-Carlsbad, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is the 17th most populous metropolitan statistical area and the 18th most populous primary statistical area of the United States as of July 1, 2012. San Diego County is also part of the San Diego–Tijuana transborder metropolitan area, the largest metropolitan area shared between the United States and Mexico. San Diego County has more than 70 miles (113 km) of coastline. This forms the most densely populated region of the county, which has a mild Mediterranean to semiarid climate and extensive chaparral vegetation, similar to the rest of the western portion of Southern California. Precipitation and temperature extremes increase to the east, with mountains that receive frost and snow in the winter. These lushly forested mountains receive more rainfall than the average in Southern California, while the desert region of the county lies in a rain shadow to the east, which extends into the Desert Southwest region of North America. There are 16 military installations, of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard in San Diego County. These include Naval Base San Diego, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Naval Air Station North Island, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, and Coast Guard Air Station San Diego. From north to south, San Diego County extends from the southern borders of Orange and Riverside Counties to the Mexico-U.S. border and the Baja California municipalities of Tijuana and Tecate. From west to east, San Diego County stretches from the Pacific Ocean to its boundary with Imperial County, which separated from it in 1907. Since 2010, statewide droughts in California have further strained San Diego County's water security.

San Diego Country Estates, commonly referred to as the Estates, is a valley resort populace composed of several neighborhoods associated with the unincorporated community of Ramona, California. The Estates are a census-designated place in North County, a region of the San Diego metropolitan area. The Estates is just east of the North County city of Poway and southeast of Ramona; 38 miles (61 km) northeast of San Diego and 46 miles (74 km) from the regional center of Carlsbad. San Diego Country Estates had a population of 10,109 at the 2010 census, up from 9,262 at the 2000 census.

Whale Mountain is a 3,043-foot (928 m), summit in the northwestern Cuyamaca Mountains in San Diego County, California. It is located between Ramona and Santa Ysabel, near Ballena Valley. Ballena takes its name from the mountain, ballena being Spanish for "whale". The Spanish name was the equivalent of the Ipai word ipank which also means "whale", and which was their name for the mountain.Whale Mountain is known for being desert-like and containing many desert plants and animals, such as cacti.

The Barona Group of Capitan Grande Band of Mission Indians of the Barona Reservation is a federally recognized tribe of Kumeyaay Indians, who are sometimes known as Mission Indians.

Rancho Cañada de San Vicente y Mesa del Padre Barona was a 13,316-acre (53.89 km2) Mexican land grant in present-day San Diego County, California given in 1846 by Governor Pío Pico to Juan Bautista Lopez. The grant was located in the San Vicente and Padre Barona Valleys, which lie south of Ramona. The area served as grazing lands for the Mission San Diego. Father José Barona served at the Mission San Diego from 1798 to 1810, before moving to the Mission San Juan Capistrano.

Ramona High School (RHS) is located in Ramona, California. Ramona High is a member of the Ramona City Unified School District and serves the communities of Ramona, San Diego Country Estates, and citizens of the surrounding rural area as well as small numbers of people from Santa Ysabel and Julian.

Vision International University is an American interdenominational Christian Seminary based in Ramona, California. The university offers distance education and online academic degree programs designed to prepare people for professional ministry. The institution traces its roots to Vision International College (alternatively known as Vision Christian College) in Australia, which was founded in 1974 in Launceston, Tasmania, by Australian theologian and author Ken Chant. Together with Vision International College, City Vision University, and several other Christian educational institutions, Vision International University is a member institution of the Vision International Education Network.

Ramona is a census-designated place (CDP) in San Diego County, California. The population was 20,292 at the 2010 census. The name Ramona also refers to an unincorporated community of San Diego (with some plans to incorporate) that includes both the Ramona CDP and the adjacent CDP of San Diego Country Estates. The population of the two CDPs, which does not include the fringe areas surrounding the CDPs, was 30,301 at the 2010 census, up from 25,223 at the 2000 census. The Ramona Community Planning Area had a population of 33,404 at the 2000 census. The January 1, 2006, population of the Ramona Community Planning Area is estimated to be 36,405 by the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG). USDA Hardiness Zones are 9b and 10a.

The Capitan Grande Reservation is a Kumeyaay Indian reservation in San Diego County, California, jointly controlled by the Barona Group of Capitan Grande Band of Mission Indians and Viejas Group of Capitan Grande Band of Mission Indians. The reservation is uninhabited and is 15,753 acres (63.75 km2) large, located in the Cuyamaca Mountains and middle of the Cleveland National Forest and west of Cuyamaca Peak. The closest town is Alpine, California.

Ramona Lutheran Christian School is a private Lutheran elementary school in Ramona, California, in the United States. Established in 1977, the school serves students in preschool through sixth grade and is the only private Christian school in Ramona. Ramona Lutheran Christian School is affiliated with the Pacific Southwest District of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod.
