Mars Mill was a former cotton spinning mill in Castleton, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. Castleton joined the Borough of Rochdale in 1899. Queensway, Castleton was a hub of cotton mills; Mars, Marland, and Castleton Mill were a group of three. It was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in 1935 and passed to Courtaulds in 1964 and demolished in the 1990s; Marland survived until 2004.

Matthew Moss High School is a coeducational secondary school located in Rochdale in the English county of Greater Manchester.Previously a community school administered by Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council, in November 2019 Matthew Moss High School converted to academy status and is now part of the Watergrove Trust. Matthew Moss High School offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for pupils. The school also operates the Matthew Moss Sports Centre which offers facilities to the local community as well as for pupils. Facilities include a sports hall, fitness suite and astroturf pitches.

Springfield Park is a large public park located between Rochdale and Heywood in Greater Manchester. Completed in 1927 on the former site of a 13th-century monastic grange, it is the largest park in the borough at 42 acresAttractions include a miniature steam railway, a lake and a children's play area. Sporting facilities include football and cricket pitches, tennis courts, a golf course and a mountaineering course. The park slopes gently down to the River Roch. In 2020, the park received government funding to plant more trees as part of a nationwide project.

Castleton is an area of Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England, 1.2 miles (1.9 km) south-southwest of Rochdale town centre and 8 miles (13 km) north-northeast of the city of Manchester. Historically a part of Lancashire, Castleton's early history is marked by its status as a township within the ancient parish of Rochdale. Prior to merging with the County Borough of Rochdale in 1900, Castleton experienced rapid growth during the 19th century as a mill town in its own right, facilitated for the most part by the construction of the Rochdale Canal which is routed through the area. Castleton's growth was significant; so much so, that for a time it was almost the same size of nearby Rochdale.Located between junctions 19 and 20 of the M62 motorway, Castleton today is a predominantly residential area, with a total population of 9,715, increasing to 10,159 at the 2011 Census.

Harp Mill was a former cotton spinning mill in the Castleton, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England. Queensway, Castleton was a hub of cotton mills including the three 't', Th'Arrow, Th'Harp, and Th'Ensor. The 1908 Castleton map includes: Marland Cotton Mill, Castleton Cotton Mill, Globe Works (Textile Machinery), Arrow Cotton Mill, Harp Cotton Mill, Globe Leather Works, Castleton Size Works and Castleton Iron Works. Th'Harp was taken over by the Lancashire Cotton Corporation in the 1930s and passed to Courtaulds in 1964. The site now houses industrial units.

Hopwood is a suburb of Heywood, a town within the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale, in Greater Manchester, England. It is north of the M62 motorway. During the Middle Ages, Hopwood formed a township within the Middleton ecclesiastical parish of the Salfordshire hundred of Lancashire.John Rhodes was one of the victims of the Peterloo Massacre of 1819. He died several weeks after the event and his body was dissected by order of magistrates wishing to prove his death was not a result of Peterloo.Hopwood has a primary school and a fire station for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. It also has a dentist, petrol station/shop and a cafe.

Sudden Brook is a watercourse in Greater Manchester and a tributary of the River Roch. It originates in to the north of Royton, Oldham and flows Northwards through Kirkholt and Sandbrook Park to join the River Roch at Sudden.

Heywood railway station serves the town of Heywood in Greater Manchester, England. The original station was opened in 1841 (by the Manchester and Leeds Railway). It was resited in 1848 when the line was extended to Bury. It closed on 5 October 1970. It re-opened on 6 September 2003 as an extension of the East Lancashire Railway from Bury Bolton Street. The boundary between the ELR and the national rail network is located a short distance east of the station, at Hopwood. £300 million had been pledged to link Heywood back to the National Rail Network in 2009, which would have seen services direct to Manchester via Castleton, but this scheme was subsequently shelved due to lack of funding. The ELR still has ambitions to run trains through to Castleton though to allow direct interchange with National Rail services there. This would form part of a larger scheme to regenerate the area and create additional tourist attractions such as a proposed Heywood Culture Park. The original station was situated immediately opposite the terminal wharf of the Heywood Branch Canal. The East Lancashire Railway station is situated slightly further to the east, nearer to the former Heywood railway wagon works.

Tweedales and Smalley was a manufacturer of textile machinery in Castleton, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, in England. It specialised in ring spinning frames mainly for export.

Hopwood Hall is a Grade II* historic house in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England, which was the ancestral country home of the landed gentry family of Hopwood who held it from the 12th century, passing to the Gregge (later Gregge-Hopwood, then Hopwood) family and remaining in their possession until it was closed up in 1922. The Hall was sold in 1946, and after a series of temporary residents, by the 1980s it had fallen into disrepair; in 2018 it was placed under renovation by the new owner, an American actor who is descended from the Hopwoods through John Hopwood (1745–1802). Hopwood Hall was founded as a moated site. Later, the property had pleasure grounds and an extensive park with scattered woods. Features in the grounds included a kitchen garden, ice house, ha-ha, Italian garden, fountain, corn mill and small cross-shaped bower or grotto.Hopwood Hall also gives its name to an electoral ward in the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale and to Hopwood Hall College, a further education college with a campus within the original estate grounds.

Manchester Golf Club, is a golf club in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England. The club was founded in 1882 as the Manchester St Andrews Golf Club, to distinguish it from another club that was founded as early as 1818. In 1883, the words "St Andrew’s" were dropped and the original Manchester Golf Club became known as the "'Old' Manchester Golf Club". The club originally played on a 9-hole course at Manley Park. In 1898, the club relocated to Trafford Park, with Trafford Hall becoming the clubhouse. With the lease on the course expiring, the club was on the move again in 1912, this time to Hopwood Park. The 18-hole course at Hopwood Park was designed by Harry Shapland Colt. In 1925, the club secured its home when it bought the freehold. The course has since been lengthened, from its original 6145 yards, to 6491 yards.
