Kaiser Tower (Wernigerode)

The Armeleuteberg is a 478-metre-high (1,568 ft) hill south of Wernigerode in the district of Harz in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. Since 1902 the Kaiserturm, an observation tower, has stood on its summit. Between the Kaiserturm and the Försterplatz car park is the forest inn of the same name. The Armeleuteberg inn is checkpoint no. 35 in Harzer Wandernadel hiking trail network.

Nöschenrode (German pronunciation: [nœːʃɛn̩ˈʁoːdə]) is a Stadtteil of Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

The Scharfenstein is a hill spur, 462.4 m above sea level (NN), of the Eichberg-Süd (486.4 m) in the Harz Mountains of Germany, near the town of Wernigerode in the county of Harz in Saxony-Anhalt.

The Zillierbach (until 1558 called the Zilgerbach) is a stream in the Harz mountains of central Germany (Harz district) in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. It is about 13 kilometres (8 mi) long. The stream rises on the western side of the Hohneklippen crags and runs initially southwards, then swings northeast at Drei Annen Hohne. South of Drei Annen Hohne it picks up the waters of the Wormsgraben, its main tributary. The Zillierbach supplies the Zillierbach Dam near Elbingerode. In front of the settlement of Voigtstieg it is joined by another two smaller brooks. In the Middle Ages the Zillierbach powered the mills between Voigtstieg and Wernigerode. This section of the valley is still called Mühlental (Mill Valley) today. In its lower reaches before its mouth the stream is known as the Flutrenne. The stream discharges into the Holtemme at Wernigerode northwest of the West Gate (Westerntor). It drops through a vertical height of almost 400 metres (1,300 ft) from source to mouth.

Wernigerode (German pronunciation: [ˌvɛɐ̯nɪɡəˈʁoːdə]) is a town in the district of Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Until 2007, it was the capital of the district of Wernigerode. Its population was 35,041 in 2012. Wernigerode is located southwest of Halberstadt, and is picturesquely situated on the Holtemme river, on the northern slopes of the Harz Mountains. Wernigerode is located on the German Timber-Frame Road.

Wernigerode Castle (German: Schloss Wernigerode) is a schloss located in the Harz mountains above the town of Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The present-day building, finished in the late 19th century, is similar in style to Schloss Neuschwanstein, though its foundations are much older and have been reconstructed several times. Wernigerode Castle was first built at the beginning of the 12th century (1110-1120) as a Romanesque architecture medieval fortress for German emperors to have a secure spot to stop during their hunting trips to the Harz. Few of these medieval walls and foundation remain today. At the end of the 15th century the castle was enlarged in a Gothic architecturestyle, with large arched windows. During the 16th century, it was rebuilt as a Renaissance fortress. A spiral staircase tower still remains intact today.

The Hochschule Harz – University of Applied Studies and Research has two bases in Saxony-Anhalt. The Department of Automation and Computer Sciences as well as the Department of Business Studies are located in Wernigerode. The Department of Public Management can be found in Halberstadt.

The Museum für Luftfahrt und Technik Wernigerode is an aviation museum located in the German town of Wernigerode near Halberstadt. Many aerospace exhibits are on display including fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and aircraft engines. The main display is contained within two buildings with some aircraft displayed externally. In addition to the aircraft exhibits a number of cockpit sections and a collection of ejection seats are also held by the museum.

Wernigerode Hauptbahnhof (German: Wernigerode Hauptbahnhof) is a railway station in the municipality of Wernigerode, located in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is a through station on the Magdeburg-Goslar line, and is also the terminus of the Harzquerbahn, housing its headquarters and engine sheds. It thus attracts many steam enthusiasts and visitors to the Brocken. A bus station is sited to its south-east on Kleine Dammstraße, and a carpark to its north-west, on Feldstraße. Just west of the station is a remarkable three-level junction. A crossroads between Ochsenteichstraße (B244) and Schlachthofstraße is underground, the mainline and narrow-gauge railways are at ground level, and above them crosses a bicycle and footbridge with a spiral at either end.

Wernigerode was a district (Kreis) in the west of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The neighboring districts were (from north clockwise) Halberstadt, Quedlinburg, the district Nordhausen in Thuringia and the district Goslar in Lower Saxony. On 1 July 2007, during the district reform in Saxony-Anhalt it became part of the new district of Harz.

Hasserode has been a quarter in the town of Wernigerode in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt since 1907.

The Zillierbach Dam (German: Zillierbachtalsperre) lies in the East Harz in the German state of Saxony-Anhalt near the town of Elbingerode (Harz) and impounds the Zillierbach stream. It supplies drinking water to several villages in the High Harz (Elbingerode, Elend (Harz), Schierke, teilweise Rübeland) as well as the town of Wernigerode; it also provides flood protection. The Zillierbach was known as the Holtemme until the 16th century, then from 1558 as the Zilgerbach. Not until much later was it given its present name. Before the construction of the dam at Peterstein, it supplied the mills in Wernigerode and in the area around Halberstadt. Its variable water supply was evened out by an artificial ditch on the south side of the Hohneklippen, the Wormsgraben, built in the late 12th century.
