Rosslau (in German orthography: Roßlau) was until 30 June 2007 a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, belonging to the district Anhalt-Zerbst. After a fusion with the town of Dessau it became eponym of the newly founded town of Dessau-Roßlau and a quarter of it. Rosslau is situated on the right bank of the Elbe, here crossed by two railway bridges, 3 mi. by rail N. of Dessau and 35 mi. S.E. of Magdeburg. It has a ducal residence, an old castle, a handsome parish church, and manufactures of machinery, paper, sealing-wax, wire goods, sugar, bricks and chemicals. Rosslau became a town in 1603.

The Mulde (German pronunciation: [ˈmʊldə]) is a river in Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Elbe and is 124 kilometres (77 mi) long. The river is formed by the confluence, near Colditz, of the Zwickauer Mulde (running through Zwickau) and the Freiberger Mulde (with Freiberg on its banks), both rising from the Ore Mountains. From here the river runs northwards through Saxony (Grimma, Wurzen, Eilenburg, Bad Düben) and Saxony-Anhalt (Jeßnitz and Dessau, the old capital of Anhalt). The Mulde flows into the Elbe 3 kilometres (2 mi) north of Dessau.In August 2002 a flood caused severe damage, that even endangered the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Dessau-Wörlitzer Gartenreich" and the city Dessau. Its name could be derived from Old German (possibly Gothic) "Mulda" (𐌼ᚢ𐌻ᛞᚨ), meaning "dust" and a cognate of English "mould"). But more possibly it is related to the German "mahlen" which means "to mill". Therefore, Mulde probably means "the milling river" and corresponds to the great number of water mills driven by the river in former times.

Luisium is a palace and landscape garden in Dessau-Roßlau, Germany. It is a part of Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 1774 work started on a small palace in the style of an English country house, which Leopold III, Duke of Anhalt-Dessau built for his wife Margravine Louise of Brandenburg-Schwedt, thus the name Luisium.

The Dessau Zoo (German: Tierpark Dessau) is a municipally owned zoo in Dessau, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany which was founded in 1958. It is located in a park that surrounds the former mausoleum of the Dukes of Anhalt. About 500 animals from 120 species are visited by around 100,000 guests per year. Most of the animals are of European origin, like wolves, goats and donkeys but the zoo also shows exotic species like kangaroos, llamas and jaguars. In the terrarium lives europes oldest reticulated python, almost 7 meters long.

The Georgium is a princely palace in Dessau, Germany. It was built for Johann Georg von Anhalt-Dessau, younger brother of Leopold III, Duke of Anhalt-Dessau. It now houses the Anhaltische Gemäldegalerie art gallery.

The Dessau tramway network (German: Straßenbahnnetz Dessau) is a network of tramways forming part of the public transport system in Dessau-Roßlau, a city in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Opened in 1894, the network has been operated since 1990 by Dessauer Verkehrsgesellschaft. As at May 2020 only two lines in operation, lines 1 and 3.

Anhaltisches Theater Dessau is a theatre in Dessau, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, which was called Landestheater Dessau until 1984. It is Mehrspartentheater offering drama, musical theatre (operas, operettas, musicals), ballets, concerts of the Anhaltische Philharmonie orchestra, and puppetry. Today, the theatre has a capacity of around 1100 spectators and is equipped with one of the largest revolving stages in Germany. In October 2013, the theatre was included as endangered in the Rote Liste Kultur of the Deutscher Kulturrat.

The Bauhaus Museum Dessau is a museum dedicated to the Bauhaus design movement located in Dessau, Germany. The museum's collection of 49,000 is the second-largest collection of Bauhaus-related objects in the world. Opened in 2019, it is operated by the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation.The museum's building was designed by the Spanish architecture firm Addenda Architects. Its lower atrium floor houses temporary exhibitions, while the upper floor is devoted to the permanent collection.
