The Territory of the Saar Basin (German: Saarbeckengebiet, Saarterritorium; French: Territoire du bassin de la Sarre) was a region occupied and governed by the United Kingdom and France from 1920 to 1935 under a League of Nations mandate. It had its own flag (adopted on July 28, 1920): a blue, white, and black horizontal tricolour. The blue and white stood for Bavaria, and white and black for Prussia, out of whose lands the Saar Territory was formed. Initially, the occupation was under the auspices of the Treaty of Versailles. Its population in 1933 was 812,000, and its capital was Saarbrücken. The territory closely corresponds with the modern German state of Saarland, but was slightly smaller in area. After a plebiscite was held in 1935, it was returned to Germany.

Schmelz is a municipality in the district of Saarlouis, in Saarland, Germany. It is situated approximately 15 km northeast of Saarlouis, and 25 km northwest of Saarbrücken. The town of Schmelz (which translates to Glaze) is made of six municipalities, Schmelz itself – which consists of Außen and Bettingen – and Hüttersdorf, Limbach, Michelbach, Primsweiler, and Dorf im Bohnental. These independent villages in the Saarlouis district date back to Roman times. A native of Schmelz would be called a Schmelzer as in a person from Berlin being referred to as a Berliner.

Reisbach is a small town, belonging to the district of Saarlouis in the Bundesland Saarland. The village was formed on April 1, 1937, when the two townships of Reisweiler and Labach were joint together as "Reisbach". Reisweiler was first mentioned as "Radisville" in 1154. The Germanic name "Radi" means "father of the town council", which, together with the "-ville" suffix meaning "farmland", yields the meaning of "Reisweiler" as "Radi's Farmland". The first written documentation about Labach stems from the 13th century, when it was known under the name "Loupach" or "Loupbach". The name is composed from "Loup" meaning "foliage" (German "Laub") and "Bach" meaning "creek". The name of the consolidated village thus means "Radi's Creek". Since January 1, 1974, Reisbach has formed the municipality of Saarwellingen, together with Saarwellingen proper and Schwarzenholz with a combined 14,000 inhabitants.

The Paratrooper Battalion 261 (Fallschirmjägerbataillon 261) was one of the three combat battalions of the German Army's Airborne Brigade 26, which was a part of the Special Operations Division. Paratrooper Battalion 261 was fully airmobile and could act both as air assault infantry or be dropped by parachute into the area of operations.

Lebach is a town in the district of Saarlouis, in Saarland, Germany. It is situated approximately 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) northeast of Saarlouis, and 20 kilometres (12 mi) north of Saarbrücken. As of 2020, its population was 18,828.

Michelbach (Saar) (German: [ˈmɪçl̩ˌbax] ) is a small community in the Saarland, Germany. It is part of the municipality of Schmelz (Saar), and is situated in the district of Saarlouis. It's near the gate of the Hochwald region of the Saarland. As of 2011, there were 840 residents within the community.The community has an average elevation of 288 meters above the sea level.

Heusweiler (German pronunciation: [hɔɪ̯sˈvaɪ̯lɐ]; Saarlandic: Heiswiller; older French: Hoysviller) is a municipality in the District of Saarbrücken, Saarland, Germany. It is situated approximately 13 km north of Saarbrücken. As of 2019, it has 18,062 inhabitants. Heusweiler is the location of a high power medium wave transmitter, the transmitter Heusweiler.

The Heusweiler transmitter was a facility for medium wave broadcasting north of Heusweiler, Germany. It originally went into service on 23 December 1935. On 19 June 1946 transmitter Heusweiler went in service again. It was used by Saarländischen Rundfunk and with 1200 kW the most powerful medium wave transmitter in the ARD syndicat. The transmitters were de-funct in 2015.

Düppenweiler is a village in Germany that belongs to the federal state of Saarland. It is a district of the municipal of Beckingen in the county of Merzig-Wadern. The village counts 3,300 inhabitants and consists of 1.254 ha land, while approximately 507 ha of it is woodland.
