Leahy Library

The former Spaulding School Building is a historic structure that has overlooked the city of Barre, Vermont, United States, since 1891. It now houses the Vermont History Center, the home of the Vermont Historical Society.

The Vermont Historical Society (VHS) was founded in 1838 to preserve and record the cultural history of the US state of Vermont. Headquartered in the old Spaulding School Building in Barre, the Vermont History Center is home to the Vermont Historical Society's administrative offices, the Leahy Library and a small book shop. In Montpelier the Society operates the Vermont History Museum in the Pavilion building, just east of the Vermont State House.

The Robert Burns Memorial is a granite monument located in downtown Barre, Vermont. It was erected by Barre's Scottish immigrants in 1899 to commemorate the centenary of the death of Scottish poet Robert Burns. The statue was conceived and modeled by J. Massey Rhind. James B. King of Milford, New Hampshire modeled the four panels. Sam Novelli carved the statue at the Barclay Brothers' granite firm. Elia Corti, an Italian, carved the panels.

The Currier Park Historic District encompasses a historic late 19th-century affluent residential area of the city of Barre, Vermont. Centered around Currier Park, a rectangular park laid out in 1883 just east of the city's downtown, are a collection of a high quality predominantly Italianate and Queen Anne Victorian residences. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Aldrich Public Library is the public library serving the city of Barre, Vermont. It is located at 6 Washington Street in the city center, in an architecturally distinguished Classical Revival building constructed in 1907-08 with funds bequested by Leonard Frost Aldrich, a local businessman, and was substantially enlarged in 2000. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The Barre Opera House is an opera house in Barre, Vermont, USA. It was built to replace the Barre City Hall/Opera House which burned down in 1898.

The Barre Downtown Historic District encompasses the historic commercial and civic heart of the city of Barre, Vermont. Extending along Main Street from City Park to Depot Square, this area was developed quite rapidly in the 1880s and 1890s, when the area experienced rapid growth due to the expansion of the nearby granite quarries. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Barre City Hall and Opera House is a historic government building at 6 North Main Street in downtown Barre, Vermont. Built in 1899, it houses the city offices, and its upper floors have served for much of the time since its construction as a performing arts venue. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The Reynolds House, currently the Reynolds House Inn, is a historic house at 102 South Main Street in the city of Barre, Vermont. Built in the 1890s, it is a well-preserved high-style example of Late Victorian architecture, exhibiting both Queen Anne and Second Empire features. Built for a local merchant, it is a rare survivor of what was once a series of high-profile residences south of downtown Barre. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

The Wheelock Law Office is a historic commercial building at 135 North Main Street in the city of Barre, Vermont. Built in 1871 for a prominent local lawyer, it is a fine example of Second Empire architecture, and a rare surviving domestically scaled building in an area now primarily filled with larger commercial buildings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

The E.L. Smith Roundhouse Granite Shed is a historic granite shed at 23 Burnham Street in the city of Barre, Vermont. Built in 1889, it is the only known surviving example of a circular granite cutting shed in the United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Washington-3-1 Representative District is a one-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Washington-3-1 District includes a section of the Washington County City of Barre defined as follows: That portion of the City of Barre bounded on the north, east and south by Barre Town, and bounded on the west by a line running along the center of Hall Street to the intersection of Elm Street, then along the center of Elm Street to the intersection of North Main Street, then along the center of North Main Street to the intersection of Prospect Street, then along the center of Prospect Street to the intersection of Allen Street, then along the western back lot line of Allen Street to the Barre Town boundary. The rest of the City of Barre is in Washington-3-2 and Washington-3-3. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The one member Washington-3-1 District had a population of 4,173 in that same census, 2.81% above the state average.
