Wohra

Kirchhain (German: [ˈkɪʁçˌhaɪ̯n] ) is a town in Marburg-Biedenkopf district in Hesse, Germany.

Kirchhain (Bz Kassel) station is a through station at the 89.2 km mark on the Main-Weser Railway. It is located very centrally in the centre of the town of Kirchhain in the German state of Hesse. Formerly, the station was the starting point of the Ohm Valley Railway (German: Ohmtalbahn) to Burg- und Nieder-Gemünden and the Wohra Valley Railway (Wohratalbahn) to Gemünden (Wohra). The station is classified by Deutsche Bahn (DB) as a category 4 station.

Amöneburg (German pronunciation: [aˈmøːnəbʊʁk] ) is a town in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district in Hesse, Germany. It lies on a mountain and is built around the castle of the same name, Burg Amöneburg.

The Transformatorenhäuschen (literally ‘little transformer house’) is a former electrical distribution substation on the Sindersfelder Straße in Anzefahr, a borough of the Hessian city of Kirchhain in Marburg-Biedenkopf district. The tower-like building was erected during the first quarter of the 20th century and connected Anzefahr to the power grid. Built from brick, the Transformatorenhäuschen is plastered. Both the corners and window cutouts feature sandstone. As a “witness of the beginning of electrification in rural areas” („als Zeuge für den Beginn der Elektrifizierung auf dem Lande“), the Transformatorenhäuschen is protected as a cultural heritage monument.

Rauischholzhausen Castle (German: Schloss Rauischholzhausen) is a German castle located on the outskirts of Rauischholzhausen, a village in Ebsdorfergrund in the southeast of Marburg-Biedenkopf district in Hesse. Today, the castle belongs to the University of Giessen, which uses it as a conference facility. The castle is surrounded by the 32-hectare (79-acre) Rauischholzhausen Castle Park, an English landscape garden that was created together with the construction of the castle between 1871 and 1876.

On the summit and the north-east slope is the district of Burgholz, which is part of the town of Kirchhain. The majority of the hill is covered by trees, with the exception of some housing on one slope.

The Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology (German: Max-Planck-Institut für terrestrische Mikrobiologie) is a research institute for terrestrial microbiology in Marburg, Germany. It was founded in 1991 by Rudolf K. Thauer and is one of 80 institutes in the Max Planck Society (Max-Planck-Gesellschaft). Its sister institute is the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology, which was founded a year later in 1992 in Bremen.
