South Orange-Maplewood School District

Columbia High School is a four-year comprehensive regional public high school in Maplewood, in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. It serves students in ninth through twelfth grades, as the lone secondary school of the South Orange-Maplewood School District, which includes Maplewood and South Orange, neighboring communities in Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1928; its accreditation expires in July 2025.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 1,926 students and 154.4 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.5:1. There were 220 students (11.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 41 (2.1% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Maplewood is a township in Essex County in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The township is an inner-ring suburban bedroom community of New York City in the New York metropolitan area. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 25,684, an increase of 1,817 (+7.6%) from the 2010 census count of 23,867, which in turn reflected a decline of one person from the 23,868 counted in the 2000 census.

Clinton Township was a township located in Essex County, New Jersey, United States, which existed from 1834 to 1902. Clinton Township was created on April 14, 1834, from portions of Elizabeth Township, Newark Township, Orange Township and Union Township. Clinton Township included present-day Irvington and Maplewood and parts of Newark and South Orange.On April 1, 1861, South Orange Township (now Maplewood) was formed from portions of Clinton Township and Orange.Irvington was formed as an independent village as of March 27, 1874, and became fully independent as a town on March 2, 1898. The town's Clinton Cemetery, opened in 1844, refers to the earlier name. What remained of the old township was absorbed into Newark on March 5, 1902, based on the results of a referendum held on March 11, 1902. The area is now part of the Clinton Hill neighborhood of Newark.

The South Orange Fire Department, is located in South Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The building was built in 1926 under the direction of architects, Arthur Dillon and Henry L Beadel. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 22, 1998. The building serves as the headquarters for the South Orange Fire Department. On April 22, 2002, the South Orange Fire Headquarters was closed due to the presence of asbestos throughout the structure. The building was renovated and reopened several years later.

South Orange is a New Jersey Transit station in South Orange, New Jersey along the Morris and Essex (formerly Erie Lackawanna) rail line. It is located in the business district of South Orange, near its town hall. It is one of two train stations in the township of South Orange, Mountain Station being the other near the township border. South Orange station was built by the Lackawanna Railroad in 1916.

South Orange Village Hall is located in South Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The building was designed by Rossiter & Wright and built in 1894. The building was added to the New Jersey Register of Historic Places on December 8, 1975 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on May 28, 1976.

Maplewood is a train station that serves New Jersey Transit's Morristown Line and Gladstone Branch (commonly known as the Morris and Essex Lines) in the township of Maplewood, Essex County, New Jersey. Located in "The Village" in Maplewood at 145 Dunnell Road (near the intersection with Maplewood Avenue), the station services trains from New York Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal to the east along with trains to Summit, Dover, Hackettstown and Gladstone to the west.

South Orange, officially the Township of South Orange Village, is a suburban township in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 18,484, an increase of 2,286 (+14.1%) from the 2010 census count of 16,198, which in turn reflected a decline of 766 (−4.5%) from the 16,964 counted in the 2000 census. Seton Hall University is located in the township. "The time and circumstances under which the name South Orange originated will probably never be known," wrote historian William H. Shaw in 1884, "and we are obliged to fall back on a tradition, that Mr. Nathan Squier first used the name in an advertisement offering wood for sale" in 1795. Other sources attribute the derivation for all of the Oranges to King William III, Prince of Orange.Of the 564 municipalities in New Jersey, South Orange Village is one of only four with a village type of government; the others are Loch Arbour, Ridgefield Park and Ridgewood.South Orange Village dates back to May 4, 1869, when it was formed within South Orange Township (now Maplewood). On March 4, 1904, the Village of South Orange was created by an act of the New Jersey Legislature and separated from South Orange Township. In 1978, the village's name was changed by referendum to "The Township of South Orange Village", becoming the first of more than a dozen Essex County municipalities to reclassify themselves as townships in order take advantage of federal revenue sharing policies that allocated townships a greater share of government aid to municipalities on a per capita basis.

Stone House by the Stone House Brook, also known as Old Stone House, is located at 219 South Orange Avenue in South Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, United States. It is one of the oldest extant structures in New Jersey, the original portion house built prior to 1680. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 22, 1991, for its significance in historic archaeology, education, community planning and development, and politics/government.

Oheb Shalom Congregation (transliterated from Hebrew as 'Lovers of Peace') is an egalitarian, Conservative synagogue located in South Orange, Essex County, New Jersey, in the United States. The synagogue is affiliated with the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism.

Owen T. Carroll Field is a multi-purpose stadium in South Orange, New Jersey, on the campus of Seton Hall University. It is the home field of the Seton Hall Pirates baseball and men's and women's soccer teams. The stadium hosted Seton Hall football team until 1982 when the school cut football. The stadium holds 261 spectators. It is named for Owen T. Carroll, former coach of the Seton Hall baseball team The facility underwent a $6.5 million renovation in 2006 that included a new Field Turf surface and light stanchions. In June 2010, the Field Turf surface was upgraded once again, and in 2013, a new scoreboard was added. In 2019, Seton Hall Baseball will be playing all of their games away from South Orange, including nine Big East "home" games in New York City while the facility undergoes major renovations.
