Calauan (IPA: [kalawan]), officially the Municipality of Calauan (Tagalog: Bayan ng Calauan), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Laguna, Philippines. The municipality has a land area of 25.25 square miles which constitutes 3.41% of Laguna's total area. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 87,693 people.Situated at 73 kilometers (45 mi) southeast of Manila, via Calamba and Los Baños, and 26 kilometers (16 mi) from Santa Cruz. Calauan is known for the Pineapple Festival, which is celebrated every 15 May. The patron saint of Calauan is Isidore the Laborer, the patron of farmers, known in Spanish as San Isidro Labrador. Calauan's population is expected to rise, as the town is being used as resettlement of informal settlers in Metro Manila through the Bayan ni Juan and the Kapit-Bisig para sa Ilog Pasig project of the ABS-CBN Foundation. Popular destinations in the area include the Field of Faith situated in Barangay Lamot 2 and the Isdaan Floating Restaurant located along the National Highway going to Victoria Laguna.

Its capital is Santa Cruz while its largest city is the City of Calamba and the province is situated southeast of Metro Manila, south of the province of Rizal, west of Quezon, north of Batangas and east of Cavite. Laguna hugs the southern shores of Laguna de Bay, the largest lake in the country. As of the 2020 census, the province's total population is 3,382,193. It is the seventh richest province in the country.Laguna is notable as the birthplace of José Rizal, the country's de facto national hero. It has numerous natural and cultural attractions such as Cavinti Falls aka Pagsanjan Falls, the University of the Philippines Los Baños and the University of the Philippines Open University in Los Baños, the hot spring resorts of Calamba on the slopes of Mount Makiling, Pila historic town plaza, Taytay Falls in Majayjay, the wood carvings and papier-mâché created by the people of Paete, the annual Sampaguita Festival in San Pedro, the turumba of Pakil, the tsinelas footwear from Liliw, the Pandan Festival of Luisiana, the Seven Lakes of San Pablo, and the Nagcarlan Underground Cemetery in Nagcarlan. Laguna is part of Greater Manila Area along with Cavite, Rizal, and Bulacan.

The Laguna Volcanic Field, also known as the San Pablo Volcanic Field, is an active volcanic field in the Philippines, located between Laguna de Bay, Mount Banahaw volcano complex and Mount Malepunyo range. It is part of the larger Southwestern Luzon Volcanic Field (SWLVF). From Manila, it is about 50 kilometres (31 mi) southeast to Mount Makiling, its most prominent volcanic feature. The field is composed of over 200 dormant and monogenetic maars, crater lakes, scoria cones, and stratovolcanoes, the tallest of which is Mount Makiling at 1,090 m (3,580 ft) in elevation. Many of the maars are aligned along a NE-SW trend. Three generations of maars are present, with the oldest being sediment-filled, like the ones found in Calauan. The youngest maars contain deep lakes with many concentrated in the city of San Pablo. The youngest maar, 1.2-kilometre (0.75 mi) wide Sampaloc Lake was formed about 500–700 years ago according to local legend, the last major activity in the volcanic field.Volcanism is still evident through the presence of geothermal areas like mud and hot springs. The areas south of Mt. Makiling is the site of one of the earliest geothermal plants in the country.

Lake Mohicap (also spelled as Mojicap) is one of the seven lakes of San Pablo City, in the province of Laguna, Philippines. The lake, located in Brgy. San Buenaventura, has an area of 14.5 hectares (36 acres) and is one of the main suppliers of water in the city. The waters of San Pablo Lakes provide a generous source of tilapia for Metro Manila and suburbs.

The University of the Philippines Rural High School was established as a subsidiary of the Department of Agricultural Education (DAE, now Department of Agricultural Education and Rural Studies or DAERS) of the University of the Philippines College of Agriculture, pursuant to Sec.4 of Act 3377 of the Philippine Legislature which was approved on December 3, 1927. The school, with a vocational curriculum, served as a practice school for the training of teachers, provided secondary education in agriculture for those preparing for college, and trained intermediate school graduates in agriculture. Subsequently, it has evolved into its current status as a full, state university high school with a science-oriented curriculum aligned with that of UP Los Baños. It also has continued to serve as a teaching laboratory for UPLB students whose degree programs allow teaching options.

St. Augustine Parish Church (Filipino: Simbahan at Parokya ni San Agustin) is the only Augustinian Roman Catholic church in Bay, Laguna, in the Philippines. The church was first administered by Augustinian friars and later transferred to the Franciscans.

Bay () (Tagalog pronunciation: [bɐˈʔɛ]), officially the Municipality of Bay (Tagalog: Bayan ng Bay), and colloquially known as Bae, is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Laguna, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 67,182 people.It is situated 20 kilometers (12 mi) from Santa Cruz and 67 kilometers (42 mi) southeast of Manila. It is also located at the east of Los Baños, west of Calauan, northeast of Santo Tomas and northwest of Alaminos. The patron saint of Bay is Saint Augustine of Hippo, whose his Feast Day is celebrated during August 28. Laguna de Bay, the country's largest freshwater lake, is named after the town.

Lake Palakpakin is one of the Seven Lakes of San Pablo in Laguna province in the Philippines. Palakpakin is located in Brgy. San Buenaventura, San Pablo City. With an area of 43 hectares (110 acres), it has a maximum depth of 7.5 metres (25 ft). Residents around the lake rely on income from fishpens and fishcages that grow cultured tilapia and silver carps.

The Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB) is a research institute of the University of the Philippines Los Baños. It is the national biotechnology research center and repository for all crops other than rice, which is handled by the Philippine Rice Research Institute. It traces its roots to the Plant Breeding Division of the Department of Agronomy, College of Agriculture. Dr. Emil Q. Javier later spearheaded the elevation of the division to an institute, which was approved and given funding under Presidential Decree No. 729 in June 1975, with Javier also serving as the institute's first director.

The Bay River (Filipino: Ilog ng Bay), also known as the Sapang River and the San Nicolas River, is a river system in Bay, Laguna, Philippines. It is one of 21 major tributaries of Laguna de Bay and is the more southern of two small rivers that hem the town proper of Bay. The other is the Calo River (Tagalog: Ilog Calo), another Laguna de Bay tributary, to the north. In geographical terms, these two rivers created the main area of the town of Bay by leaving many centuries' worth of alluvial deposits in the lower section of the plain close to Laguna de Bay. Over time, that plain was selected by the earliest settlers of Bay as the site of their community because the access to the lake meant easy transportation and ready access to a water source. The downside to this choice of location was regular flooding. Residents still recall that when the two rivers overflowed their banks, the poblacion and six other barangays would be flooded. However, this rarely happens today because an irrigation system consisting of canals and ditches which bring water from these rivers into the ricefields have reduced the force of the waters. The Bay River forms Bay's boundary with Calauan, Laguna. A third river on the opposite side of the town, the Maitem River (Tagalog: Ilog Maitem), forms Bay's boundary with Los Baños, Laguna.

Mount Atimbia is a mountain in Laguna and has an elevation of 654 metres. Mount Atimbia is situated northeast of Mount Mabilog and east of Kalisungan. It is found on the Laguna Volcanic Field.

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) is a public research university and is the fifth constituent university of the University of the Philippines System. The majority of UPOU students are based in the Philippines but all of its programs can be taken anywhere in the world. While primarily a virtual university, it has a physical campus that houses admin and faculty offices in Los Baños, Laguna, with Mega Learning Hubs (MLH) in Manila and Cebu. UPOU was established in 1995 by the UP Board of Regents as the evolution of the UP Distance Education Program. UPOU offers accredited graduate and undergraduate degrees as well as diploma courses and Professional Teaching Certificates (PTC) to Filipino and international students in more than 70 countries. It also offers MOOCs on various subjects through its official platform, Massive Open Distance eLearning (MODeL), and hosts its degree programs through its official student portal, MyPortal, both learning platforms were developed using a free and open-source learning management system called Moodle. As of 2019, UPOU had 4,086 students enrolled in various programs representing 7.3% of the student population of the entire University of the Philippines system. This makes it the 4th largest constituent university by student population after UP Manila, and just slightly more than UP Visayas, which had 7.2%, while having the smallest budget of any constituent university.UPOU was declared the National Center of Excellence in Open Learning and Distance Education by the Commission on Higher Education and is the leader of the Consortium of Open Distance Education Providers in the Philippines (CODEPP) and a member of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE).
