Bergedorf

Hamburg-Bergedorf station is a station in the municipality of same name in the German city of Hamburg. It is located between the districts of Bergedorf and Lohbrügge near the Bergedorf inner city and the City-Center Bergedorf shopping mall. The station is served by Hamburg S-Bahn lines S21 and S2 and regional services to Schwerin and Rostock as well as of individual long-distance services from or to Berlin and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The associated central bus station is the busiest in southeastern Hamburg and serves inter alia bus routes connecting Vierlande, Geesthacht and the immediate surrounding region with the Hamburg S-Bahn network.

Bergedorf (German: [ˈbɛʁɡədɔʁf] (listen)) is a quarter (Stadtteil) in the borough (Bezirk) of Bergedorf in the Free and Hanseatic city of Hamburg in northern Germany. In 2020, the population was 36,160.

"Nettelnburg" (Low German: "Nettelnborg") is a district of Hamburg-Bergedorf, bordering Allermöhe and Neuallermöhe, situated in the western marshes along the Elbe River. Nettelnburg is not an independent district but a part of the Bergedorf quarter. In the 1920s, Old-Nettelnburg was built under the supervision of architect Fritz Winterfeldt.

The Arboretum Lohbrügge (10 hectares), also known as the Arboretum der Bundesforschungsanstalt für Forst- und Holzwirtschaft or the Arboretum Lohbruegge der Bundesanstalt, is an arboretum with greenhouses maintained by the German Federal Research Center for Forestry and Forest Products (BFH). It is located at Leuschnerstrasse 91, Lohbrügge, Hamburg, Germany, and open by appointment. The arboretum was established in 1965 by the BFH, Bundesforschungsanstalt für Forst- und Holzwirtschaft. According to Hamann and Seehann, as of 1983 it contained 1541 plant taxa in the arboretum and greenhouse; more recent figures increase that figure to 1570 taxa representing 126 families from all continents, including Taxodium distichum (about 70 years old) and Pinus longaeva. Its greenhouses (about 700 m2, 14 meters in height) contain about 500 tropical tree species from three climates: tropical, subtropical, and Mediterranean. They include notable specimens of Carapa guianensis, Cedrela odorata, Dalbergia latifolia, Entandrophragma utile, E. cylindricum, Khaya ivorensis, mahogany species, Swietenia macrophylla. The arboretum also contains a herbarium (3,200 specimens) and a wood collection of 24,000 samples.

Hamburg Observatory (German: Hamburger Sternwarte) is an astronomical observatory located in the Bergedorf borough of the city of Hamburg in northern Germany. It is owned and operated by the University of Hamburg, Germany since 1968, although it was founded in 1825 by the City of Hamburg and moved to its present location in 1912. It has operated telescopes at Bergedorf, at two previous locations in Hamburg, at other observatories around the world, and it has also supported space missions. The largest near-Earth object was discovered at this Observatory by German astronomer Walter Baade at the Bergedorf Observatory in Hamburg on 23 October 1924. That asteroid, 1036 Ganymed is about 20 miles (35 km) in diameter.The Hamburg 1-meter reflector telescope (first light 1911) was one of the biggest telescopes in Europe at that time, and by some measures the fourth largest in the World. The Observatory also has an old style Great Refractor (a Großen Refraktor), a long telescope with a lens (60 cm/~23.6 in aperture) with a tube focal length of 9 meters (~10 yards), and there is also a smaller one from the 19th century that has survived. Another historical item of significance is the first and original Schmidt telescope, a type noted for its wide-field views.Among its achievements, the director of the Observatory won the 1854 Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society for an 1852 star catalog.

Wentorf bei Hamburg is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is situated on the river Bille, approx. 10 km northwest of the town of Geesthacht, and adjoining the town of Reinbek. It is situated on the city limits to the city of Hamburg and 20 km east of the centre of the city.

Reinbek (German: [ˈʁaɪnbeːk] (listen); probably from "Rainbek" = brook at the field margin; Northern Low Saxon: Reinbeek) is a town located in Stormarn district in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein within the metropolitan region of Hamburg. It is accessed by the A1 and the A24 autobahn and federal highway 5. Reinbek was first mentioned in 1226, the city rights were given in 1952. The town is located at the river Bille which was dammed up here to form a mill pond.
