The Torre Velasca (Velasca Tower, in English) is a skyscraper built in the 1950s by the BBPR architectural partnership, in Milan, Italy. The tower is part of the first generation of Italian modern architecture, while still being part of the Milanese context in which it was born, to which also belongs the Milan Cathedral and the Sforza Castle.The tower, approximately 100 metres tall, has a peculiar and characteristic mushroom-like shape. It stands out in the city skyline, made of domes, buildings and other towers. Its structure recalls the Lombard tradition, made of medieval fortresses and towers, each having a massive profile. In such fortresses, the lower parts were always narrower, while the higher parts propped up by wood or stone beams. As a consequence, the shape of this building is the result of a modern interpretation of the typical Italian medieval castle. At the same time, BBPR in this building satisfied the functional needs of space: narrower surfaces on the ground, wider and more spacious ones on the top floors. The town planning laws, then, imposed specific volumes (depending on the buildings' purpose); in this tower, the latter being the mixed functions of residential and commercial use. The tower is located in the city centre of Milan, Italy, near the Duomo (Milan Cathedral) and the headquarters of the University of Milan, between the streets "corso di Porta Romana" and "via Larga". One of the exits of the Missori metro station is located right in front of it. In 2011, the tower was placed under protection as a historic building.

Missori is a Milan Metro station on Line 3. The station was opened on 16 December 1990 as part of the extension of the line from Duomo to Porta Romana.The station is located at Piazza Giuseppe Missori, in the central area near the Velasca Tower, at the end of Via Giuseppe Mazzini, which by the Duomo leads to the south. Along with the Crocetta station, it can be used to access the University of Milan. Like its nearest stations, it is underground in two overlapped tunnels.

San Giovanni in Conca was a church in the center of Milan, northern Italy, dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist. It had a Paleochristian origin and went through a renovation in Romanesque style. In the 13th century, it became part of the private compound of the Visconti house and transformed into the private chapel of Bernabò Visconti and his wife Regina Della Scala, Lord and Lady of Milan. After their deaths, it housed their burial site. In the 19th and 20th centuries, it was downsized and finally demolished. Only the crypt and part of the apse have been preserved and are today visible in Piazza Missori. Fragments of the frescoes decorating the walls and the burial monuments of Bernabò and his wife have been preserved and transferred to the Sforza Castle Civic Museums (Museo d'Arte Antica).

The Palazzo dell'Istituto Nazionale della Previdenza Sociale (INPS) is located facing Piazza Missori #10 in central Milan, region of Lombardy, Italy. The Istituto nazionale della previdenza sociale (National Institute for Social Security) is the main national department of the Italian public retirement system. This building was designed by Marcello Piacentini and completed in 1931 to house the regional offices. The INPS had new offices built in 1961 at via Melchiorre Gioia, but these are planned to be replaced.The lower three stories of the elegant building is made with grey veined stone, and the upper stories are marked by monumental order pilasters and simple rounded arches framing the windows. The building has a convex front, with recessed wings, befitting the site. The central ground portal is decorated with allegorical representation of the duties and goals of the organization: amor, labor, domus, and providencia on the left and virtus, salus, fides, and praevidentia on the right. Of note, is the fascist inscription of Anno VIII, dating the completion to the 8th year Era Fascista, atop the brackets are two angels flanked by depictions of fasces.

The Monument to the Carabinieri (also called Monumento ai Fiamma dei Carabinieri) is a steel sculpture located at Piazza Armando Diaz in central Milan, region of Lombardy, Italy. The monument is dedicated in honor of the service of Italian police-men and women. The Fiamma dei Carabinieri which inspired the sculpture is a heraldic symbol most prominently displayed on the caps of Carabinieri, that artistically depicts a grenade, typically inscribed with the letters IR for Italian Republic, and from which curving flames with 13 tips emerge. The flames marks the loyalty, fidelity, ardor and honor that should honor their service. This monument is a stylized depiction of the Carabinieri symbol, commissioned in 1972 from the sculptor Luciano Minguzzi, and inaugurated in this piazza on 3 December 1981, under the auspices of Giovanni Spadolini, then president of the Milan City Council, and General Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa. A plaque at the base of the monument now honors dalla Chiesa. The general had led the Italian military's anti-terrorism forces in Lombardy in the mid-1970s, mainly directed against the Red Brigades. In 1982, Dalla Chiesa was appointed prefect of Palermo to stem the violence of the Second Mafia War. As they were driving, Dalla Chiesa, his wife, and an escort agent were assassinated on the orders of a Mafia boss.
