Lower Croan

Sladesbridge (Cornish: Ponslayn) is a village located near Wadebridge in Cornwall, England. It is situated at the confluence of the River Allen and the Croan Stream about 1 km upstream of the confluence with the River Camel. The surrounding area is in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the floodplain is a Special Area of Conservation, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a County Wildlife Site.

Costislost is a Grade II listed house in the parish of Egloshayle in Cornwall, England. To the south are Costislost Plantations. It dates to probably the 17th century, and underwent remodelling in the 18th and 19th centuries. The property was a farmhouse for centuries and belonged to the Lakeman family in the 19th century.Today it is run as an organic retreat and nutritional health centre.

Tregarden is a Grade II* listed large house built by the Barrett family in the late 16th century in the parish of St Mabyn, Cornwall, England. The house is built to a traditional E-shaped Elizabethan plan. The entrance archway is dated 1631, the date that William Godolphin married the Barrett heiress. The Hearth Tax Returns for 1664 record it as having 8 hearths. The house became a farmhouse in the 19th century. It is currently a restored manor house owned by the Tremayne family.

Kelly Rounds, or Castle Killibury is an Iron Age hill fort in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated beside the A39 trunk road approximately two miles east of Wadebridge.The site is north of the village of St Mabyn, approximately 300 metres east of Three Holes Cross on the border of the parish of Egloshayle. Radiocarbon dating has dated the occupation of Kelly Rounds to between 400 and 100 BC. More carbon dating has dated a pre-hill fort occupation as between 1250 and 950 BC.

Polbrock (Cornish: Polbrogh, meaning badger's pool) is a small hamlet in north Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is situated two miles southeast of Wadebridge at grid reference SX 014 695 and near Burlorne Pillow. Polbrock is situated in the steep-sided and heavily wooded valley of the River Camel and is the site of a pair of bridges carrying a minor road over the River Camel and the Camel Trail. The river bridge is the first road crossing of the River Camel upstream of Wadebridge, and was built in the late 19th Century to replace an earlier footbridge and ford. The next crossing is at Nanstallon two miles further upstream.Polbrock is on the Camel Trail long-distance footpath and cycle trail. At this point, the Camel Trail follows the trackbed of the former Bodmin and Wadebridge Railway). Polbrock is the first road access point to the Camel Trail when travelling from Wadebridge towards Bodmin. There is a small car park and picnic area from which a footpath leads through Bishop's Wood to Hustyn Mill. One house in Polbrock, probably built in the 18th century, is Grade II listed by Historic England.

Three Holes Cross is a medieval wayside cross and junction on the A39 trunk road approximately 2 miles east of Wadebridge, Cornwall, United Kingdom at grid reference SX 01171 73668.The cross is made of granite and stands 1.5 m high. The wheelhead includes four holes of which only three are fully cut through, giving the name of the cross and junction. The cross is a scheduled monument and Grade II listed building.There is a settlement of a few houses nearby. The nearest house, a little way away from the cross was formerly the toll house to allow passage to Wadebridge. An Iron Age fort known locally as Kelly Rounds (but mapped by Ordnance Survey as Castle Killibury) is situated 300 metres west of Three Holes Cross.

The Camel Trail is a permissive cycleway in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, that provides a recreational route for walkers, runners, cyclists and horse riders. The trail is flat (and suitable for disabled access); running from Padstow to Wenford Bridge via Wadebridge and Bodmin, it is 17.3 miles (27.8 km) long and used by an estimated 400,000 users each year generating an income of approximately £3 million a year.The trail is managed and maintained by Cornwall Council.

The River Allen (Cornish: Dowr Lehen, meaning slate river) in north Cornwall is one of two rivers in Cornwall which share this name. In this case the name is the result of a mistake made in 1888 by Ordnance Survey, replacing the name Layne with Allen which is the old name for the lower reaches of the Camel. The other River Allen runs through Truro. The River Allen is a major tributary of the River Camel. It springs northeast of Camelford and flows south-southwest through the Allen Valley passing St Teath and St Kew Highway to join the Camel near Sladesbridge.
