Kellereischloss is a Schloss in Hammelburg, Lower Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. It is in the Baroque architectural style. 'Kellereischloss' might be translated into English as 'Wine Cellar Castle'. The building is colloquially known as Rotes Schloss ('Red Castle'). Kellereischloss was designed and built between 1726 and 1731 by Andrea Gallasini (1681-1766), architect to the court of Adolphus von Dalberg, Prince-Abbot of Fulda. The site had been a wine cellar, and the seat of a tax collector, since 1279. The Prince-Abbot now desired a summer residence. It seems to have been to his satisfaction; for, in 1737, he died there. The giant cellars under Kellereischloss could, at the high point of wine production in Hammelburg at the end of the 18th century, store 101 wine barrels with a total capacity of more than 700,000 litres (150,000 imp gal; 180,000 US gal).

Task Force Baum, also known as the Hammelburg raid was a secret and controversial World War II task force set up by U.S. Army General George S. Patton and commanded by Capt. Abraham Baum in late March 1945. Baum was given the task of penetrating 50 miles (80 km) behind German lines and liberating the POWs in camp Oflag XIII-B, near Hammelburg. Controversy surrounds the true reasons behind the mission, which most likely was to liberate Patton's son-in-law, John K. Waters, taken captive in Tunisia in 1943. The result of the mission was a complete failure; of the roughly 300 men of the task force, 32 were killed in action during the raid and only 35 made it back to Allied-controlled territory, with the remainder being taken prisoner. All of the 57 tanks, jeeps, and other vehicles were lost.

The Erlasee Solar Park, or Solarstrompark Gut Erlasee, is an 11.4 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic power station located in Bavaria, southern Germany, in one of the sunniest regions of the country. Constructed on a former vineyard by the company Solon SE in 2006, it was then the world's largest photovoltaic power station. The project uses 1,464 double-axis solar trackers to increase the annual electricity yield by 30 percent. Each tracker shoulders twelve conventional solar panels made of crystalline silicon. The plant generates about 14,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) annually, or as much as the average consumption of the nearby town of Arnstein.The plant cost €70 million and covers an area of 77 hectares (190 acres). The project was officially commissioned on 1 September 2006. The inauguration party included a concert given by the popular German rock bands BAP and The BossHoss.
