Grand Hotel Bellevue (Berlin)

The Columbushaus (Columbus House) was a nine-storey modernist office and shopping building in Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, designed by Erich Mendelsohn and completed in 1932. It was an icon of progressive architecture which passed relatively unscathed through World War II but was gutted by fire in the June 1953 uprising in East Germany. The ruin was subsequently razed in 1957 because it stood in the border strip; the site where the structure once stood was occupied by activists shortly before the fall of the Berlin wall.

Berlin Potsdamer Platz is a railway station in Berlin. It is completely underground and situated under Potsdamer Platz in central Berlin. Regional and S-Bahn services call at the station, and it is also served by U-Bahn line U2.

Potsdamer Platz (German: [ˈpɔtsdamɐ plats] (listen), Potsdam Square) is a public square and traffic intersection in the center of Berlin, Germany, lying about 1 km (1,100 yd) south of the Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag (German Parliament Building), and close to the southeast corner of the Tiergarten park. It is named after the city of Potsdam, some 25 km (16 mi) to the south west, and marks the point where the old road from Potsdam passed through the city wall of Berlin at the Potsdam Gate. After developing within the space of little over a century from an intersection of rural thoroughfares into the most bustling traffic intersection in Europe, it was totally destroyed during World War II and then left desolate during the Cold War era when the Berlin Wall bisected its former location. Since German reunification, Potsdamer Platz has been the site of major redevelopment projects.

The Bahntower, also written as BahnTower and Bahn-Tower, (English: Railway Tower) is a 26-story, 103 m (338 ft) skyscraper on the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, Germany. Built between 1998 and 2000, the Bahntower provides 22,000 m² (236,806 sq ft) of office space for the headquarters of Deutsche Bahn (English: German Railway). It is the sixth-tallest building in Berlin and the sixty-fourth tallest building in Germany.

The Potsdam Gate (German: Potsdamer Tor) was one of the western gates of the Berlin Customs Wall, south of the still-standing Brandenburg Gate. It was originally constructed in 1734, and then rebuilt in 1824 as a neoclassic imposing gateway. It was one of the few gates that were left when the Customs Wall was demolished (1867–1870) but it suffered severe damage during the bombing of Berlin in World War II (1943–1945). Its remains were demolished in 1961, when the Berlin Wall was erected.

Canada House (German: Kanada Haus) is a diplomatic and office building in Berlin. It is the location of the Embassy of Canada to Germany, which is the diplomatic mission of Canada to Germany.

Kollhoff-Tower is a 25-story, 103 metres (338 ft) skyscraper on the Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, Germany. The building, named after Hans Kollhoff from Kollhoff und Timmermann Architekten, was completed in 1999 after four years of construction.

Hotel Fürstenhof was a luxury hotel facing both Leipziger Platz and Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, Germany. It was designed by architects Richard Bielenberg and Josef Moser and opened in 1907. On 22 November 1943 the hotel was destroyed during an air raid on Berlin in World War II; the ruins were completely demolished in the 1950s. Originally, the hotel was built in the Neoclassical style in the second half of the 19th century. After its renovation, enlargement and reopening in 1907, the architecture of the hotel had elements of Art Nouveau, the onset of Modernism and the Neo-Baroque. The interior of the building was elaborately decorated, including a fountain by Ludwig Mayer and carvings by Richard Kuhn.

Hotel Esplanade was a luxury hotel with 400 rooms, which once stood on Berlin's busy transport and nightlife hub Potsdamer Platz. During its colorful and turbulent history it went from being one of the German capital's most luxurious and celebrated hotels to a bombed-out ruin lost in the wastelands alongside the Berlin Wall. A section of it still survives today, albeit as a fragment incorporated into the soaring modern complex of the Sony Center. Wilhelm II is said to have spent many evenings at the hotel entertaining guests, although no women were allowed at these dining parties. The hotel was visited in the 1920s by movie stars such as Charlie Chaplin and Greta Garbo.

The Lessing Monument (German: Lessing-Denkmal) is a monument to Gotthold Ephraim Lessing by Otto Lessing, installed at Tiergarten in Berlin, Germany.

Haus Vaterland (Fatherland House) was a pleasure palace on the south-east side of Potsdamer Platz in central Berlin. Preceded by Haus Potsdam, a multi-use building including a large cinema and a huge café, from 1928 to 1943 it was a large, famous establishment including the largest cafe in the world, a major cinema, a large ballroom and numerous theme restaurants, promoted as a showcase of all nations. It was partially destroyed by fire in World War II, reopened in a limited form until 1953, and was finally demolished in 1976.

Café Josty was a Berlin café located on Potsdamer Platz. At the beginning of 2001 a new Café Josty was opened at the Sony Center, not far from its original location.
