Albacete Cathedral

The Diocese of Albacete (Latin: Dioecesis Albasitensis)) is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church located in the city of Albacete in the ecclesiastical province of Toledo in Spain.

Albacete (, also US: , Spanish: [alβaˈθete] ) is a city and municipality in the Spanish autonomous community of Castilla–La Mancha, and capital of the province of Albacete. Lying in the south-east of the Iberian Peninsula, the area around the city is known as Los Llanos. Halfway between Madrid and the Mediterranean coast, it enjoys connections by motorway, railway (including AVE), and air (Albacete Airport). With a population of 174,336 (2020), it is the largest municipality of Castilla–La Mancha. The municipality of Albacete is also the seventh-largest in Spain by total area, being 1,125.91 km2 (434.72 sq mi). Albacete is the seat to the regional High Court of Justice. The origins of the city are uncertain, with the earliest proof of settlement dating to the time of Al-Andalus, when the settlement was originally named البسيط (Al-Basīṭ), meaning "The Flat" in Arabic, referring to the flat land around. Albacete was the main headquarters of the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War Part of the historic region of La Mancha, Albacete has a reputation as a producer of clasp knives. Its flat area and the removal of architectural barriers have reportedly made it one of the most accessible cities across the country.Among the several festivals celebrated in the city, the September Feria de Albacete stands out, declared as a festival of "International Tourist Interest".Albacete is home to multinational corporations like the Albacete Airport and has five large industrial zones, including Campollano, the largest industrial area of Castilla–La Mancha. Albacete houses one of the campus of the University of Castilla–La Mancha, the Biomedical Campus of Albacete and the Technology Park of Albacete. The aviation industry is one of the main economic engines of the city. Albacete hosts the School of TLP NATO pilots, Los Llanos Air Base.

The High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha (Spanish: Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Castilla-La Mancha, TSJCLM) is the highest body of the judiciary in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha (Spain). It is headquartered in the city of Albacete.He is heir to the Royal Court of Albacete established by Queen Maria Christina in Albacete in 1834 with jurisdiction over much of Castile-La Mancha and the Region of Murcia. The presidency of the High Court of Justice of Castilla-La Mancha has been held since 2005 by Vicente Rouco, who, currently, is serving his third consecutive term.

The Fuente de las Ranas (English: Fountain of the Frogs) is an emblematic fountain located in center of the Spanish city of Albacete. Built in memory of Dionisio Guardiola, was inaugurated in 1916 in the center of the current Plaza de Gabriel Lodares, having chaired several places in the city until, in 2007, it was moved to its current location, the roundabout between the Paseo de la Libertad, the Avenida de la Estación, the Paseo de la Cuba and Calle Alcalde Conangla.

The Plaza de Gabriel Lodares (formerly called Plaza de Canalejas) is a square of Albacete (Spain) located in the center of the city. It is located at the confluence of the calles Tesifonte Gallego, Paseo Simón Abril, Avenida de España y Octavio Cuartero, and is the main gateway to Parque Abelardo Sánchez. Home to important buildings such as the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense in Albacete, the Casa de Archillas or the central delegation of Caja Castilla-La Mancha in the city. It is one of the busiest places of Albacete. In the past was called Plaza de Canalejas.

The Plaza de Toros de Albacete is a bullring in the town of the Albacete, in the region of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain). Popularly known as "La Chata", a member of the Royal Academy, José Maria de Cossio, called it "one of the most excellent bullrings of Spain".

The Albacete Provincial Museum (Museo Provincial de Albacete) is a museum of archeology and fine art located in Albacete, Spain. The museum has existed in various incarnations since 1927, and settled in its present building in Abelardo Sánchez Park in 1978. Its exhibits emphasize the development of regional civilization and art, and the museum is divided into subsections for archeology, fine arts, and ethnology. It was declared Bien de Interés Cultural in 1962.The Joaquín Sánchez Jiménez Archaeology Museum houses a notable collection of Roman and pre-Roman artifacts. Local Paleolithic and Neolithic items are shown, as well as Roman art and tools. Iberian sculpture is featured as well. The Benjamín Palencia fine arts section emphasizes 20th century works, and includes many pieces by local contemporary artists.

The Fair of Albacete (Spanish: recinto Ferial de Albacete) is a trade fairground located in Albacete, Spain. Since 2022, the fair's goods are supplied by the Port Authority of Valencia. On 15 August 2021, an explosion at a roast chicken stall left one person injured.

Estadio Carlos Belmonte is a multi-purpose stadium in Albacete, Spain. It is used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Albacete Balompié.

The Ciudad Deportiva Andrés Iniesta, is the training ground of Albacete Balompié who are currently playing in the Spanish Segunda División. Occupying a total area of 75,000 m² at the south of Albacete, the construction of the complex was launched in March 1998 and completed in April 2005. The stadium is named after Spanish footballer Andrés Iniesta.
