Cook's Bay is the southernmost bay of Lake Simcoe in Ontario, Canada. Most of the southern part of the bay is within the jurisdiction of Georgina, a town in the Regional Municipality of York. Its western end is in Simcoe County, and a small portion from the mouth of the Holland River to the Simcoe County border is within Bradford West Gwillimbury. The largest community on the shores of the bay is Keswick. It was named by John Graves Simcoe, the first Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada, for James Cook, who had served as master aboard HMS Pembroke in 1759 under the command of Captain John Simcoe, the Lieutenant-Governor's father. The bay is used for fishing, and is especially known for yellow perch. It attracts windsurfers and kitesurfers throughout the year, and its northern end features many cottages that are part of Ontario's cottage country. Marinas and motel accommodations are available.

Keswick High School is a public high school in the York Region District School Board. It is located in Keswick, Ontario, and serves Grade 9 to 12 students from the growing Keswick community. It follows the curriculum standards set by the Ontario Ministry of Education and was officially opened in September 2000.

Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Academy (O.L.L.) is a high school in Keswick, Ontario, Canada in the York Catholic District School Board. The high school's philosophy and unique inclusion of grades 7 and 8 were cited by Principal Mike Nasello in a Toronto Sun interview explaining the school's jump from a 4.8 to a 7.9 rating in the Fraser Institute's rating between 2002 and 2007. Over 90% of first-time writers of the province's literary test passed in 2007 compared with 67.1% in 2002.

York—Simcoe is a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario since the 2007 provincial election. It covers part of the region north of Toronto by Lake Simcoe. The riding includes the municipalities of Bradford West Gwillimbury, East Gwillimbury, Georgina and King north of Regional Road 31. It also includes the community of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation Indian Reserve. The provincial electoral district was created in 1999 when provincial ridings were defined to have the same borders as federal ridings.

The Holland River is a river in Ontario, Canada, that drains the Holland River watershed into Cook's Bay, the southern extremity of Lake Simcoe. The river flows generally north, and its headwaters lie in the Oak Ridges Moraine. The Holland River watershed is approximately 600 square kilometres (230 sq mi), spanning an area that includes New Tecumseth, King Township, Newmarket, Aurora, East Gwillimbury, and Whitchurch-Stouffville. The river's watershed also contains the Holland Marsh, a fertile farmland region renowned for its vegetable production. The river was originally known as Micicaquean Creek, its indigenous name. It was renamed by Lieutenant-Governor Simcoe after Captain Samuel (Johannes) Holland, (1729–1801), Dutch-born first Surveyor General of British North America.The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority is responsible for leading the protection and environmental health of the Holland River, as it is within the Lake Simcoe watershed area.

York—Simcoe is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada from 1968 to 1979, from 1988 to 1997 and since 2004. It covers part of the region north of Toronto by Lake Simcoe. It has existed on three occasions. Its first incarnation was created in 1966 from parts of Dufferin—Simcoe and York North. It existed until 1976 when it was split between York North, Simcoe South, and York—Peel. It was reformed in 1987 from parts of Simcoe South, York—Peel, Victoria—Haliburton, and Wellington—Dufferin—Simcoe. It was again broken up in 1996 with a split between Barrie—Simcoe, Simcoe—Grey, and York North. Its current incarnation came into being in 2003 made up of parts of Simcoe—Grey, York North, and Barrie—Simcoe—Bradford. Its previous Member of Parliament was Peter Van Loan, the former Government House Leader. A by-election took place on February 25, 2019.

Georgina (Canada 2016 Census population 45,418) is a town in south-central Ontario, and the northernmost municipality in the Regional Municipality of York. The town is bounded to the north by Lake Simcoe. Although incorporated as a town, it operates as a township in which dispersed communities share a common administrative council. The largest communities are Keswick, Sutton and Jackson's Point. Smaller communities include Pefferlaw, Port Bolster, Roches Point, Udora and Willow Beach. The town was formed by the merger of the Village of Sutton, the Township of Georgina and the Township of North Gwillimbury in 1971 and incorporated in 1986. North Gwillimbury had previously been part of Georgina but became its own township in 1826. It took its name from the family of Elizabeth Simcoe, née Gwillim.

Snake Island is a lake island located in Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada. After the War of 1812, these islands, along with Fox Island and Georgina Island were purchased by Chief Joseph Snake (a member of the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation) from the British. The islands used to be headquarters to his father Chief Renatus Snake.Like Georgina Island and Fox Island, Snake Island is inhabited by band members with homes located along the shores of the island. There are no roads and old dirt trails connecting the residents. The only means to reach the island is by private boats to docks in front of the homes. Winter travel is by snowmobile and ATV as the lake freezes over. The interior of the island is covered by trees. From the 1940s until at least the mid 1970s, a girls' camp, Camp Centennial, occupied a large piece of property facing the mainland village of Island Grove. Vern and Marion Hickingbottom purchased the camp in the early 1950s from the founding owners, named Henderson, who remained in a cottage next to the camp for many years. Local first nations people from the Porte, Bigcanoe and McCue families worked at the camp and operated a popular tuck shop on the island; many participated in the annual Snake Island Regatta.

The Holland Marsh is a wetland and agricultural area in Ontario, Canada, about 50 kilometres (31 mi) north of Toronto. It lies entirely within the valley of the Holland River, stretching from the northern edge of the Oak Ridges Moraine near Schomberg to the river mouth at Cook's Bay, Lake Simcoe. In its entirety it comprises about 21,000 acres (8,500 hectares), with two distinct divisions. Historically it has simply been referred to as "the marsh". The first area to be drained and reclaimed for farming is a 7,200-acre (2,915-hectare) municipally drained polder south-west of the town of Bradford proper, of which 40% lies in King Township (York Region) and 60% in the town of Bradford West Gwillimbury (Simcoe County). The other 13,800 acres (5,585 hectares) lie north and east of Bradford, fringing Cook's Bay in the towns of Innisfil and East Gwillimbury. Portions of this area have been privately reclaimed for farming, such as the Ravenshoe Road and Bradford Marsh areas, and portions are recreational or undisturbed wetland. In some cases, recreational boating, wetland and agricultural areas intersect.

Fox Island is one of the islands that are located in Lake Simcoe, Ontario, Canada. The island is part of the Georgina township alongside the other three islands in Georgina (unlike Thorah Island which is part of Brock township). Fox Island is about 0.2 square kilometers or 48 acres. There are some cottages on the island. There are no paved roads on the island but there are some footpaths. The only way to access the island is by boat.
