Allegheny Market House

The Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny is situated in the Allegheny Center neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was commissioned in 1886, the first Carnegie library to be commissioned in the United States. Donated to the public by entrepreneur Andrew Carnegie, it was built from 1886 to 1890 on a design by John L. Smithmeyer and Paul J. Pelz. The library and musical conservatory was built of red and grey granite from Maine. The contractor was Vinalhaven, Maine's Bodwell Granite Company, which had furnished granite for major public works including the State, War and Navy Department building in Washington, DC., now called the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.It did not open until 1890 thus making it the second Carnegie library to open. The first one to open being the Carnegie Free Library of Braddock, built for steel-workers in Braddock, 9 miles up the Monongahela River from Pittsburgh. The building also features the first Carnegie Music Hall in the United States. The Music Hall at the Braddock Library would not open until an 1893 expansion of that structure. The running costs were met from local taxes – unlike the Carnegie Library in Braddock, which received an endowment from Carnegie. After a mid-2000s lightning strike, the library was moved to a new building a few blocks north on Federal Street. Following the move, the New Hazlett Theater was the primary tenant. In April 2019, the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh opened Museum Lab, a makerspace for youth aged 10+.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

The New Hazlett Theater is the primary occupant of the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny in the Allegheny Center part of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After the Pittsburgh Public Theater moved to the O'Reilly Theater in 1999, the Hazlett Theater was transformed into the New Hazlett Theater and opened in 2004. Since 2013, the Theater has also been home to the Community Supported Art (CSA) Performance Series, designed to help support new and upcoming artists in the Pittsburgh area.

The Colonel James Anderson Monument is a public monument in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. It was designed by Daniel Chester French and commissioned by businessman and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie. Anderson had opened his personal book collection to the youth of Allegheny, Pennsylvania, including Carnegie, and his actions would later inspire Carnegie to create the Carnegie library system. The monument, dedicated in 1904, is located outside the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny.

The Buhl Planetarium and Institute of Popular Science Building, also known as the "People's Observatory", is located at 10 Children's Way in the Allegheny Center neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Allegheny Post Office, also known as Old North Post Office, The Landmarks Museum, is a building built in 1897 in the Allegheny City area that is now within Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It is located in Pittsburgh's North Side. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.In 1983, the post office building became the first home of the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. The Children's Museum has since expanded to include the neighboring Buhl Planetarium building and a new addition.

Aberlie House at 122-124 East North Avenue in the Central Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was likely built circa 1880. It was added to the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations on February 13, 2001.

The Garden Theater (or Garden Theatre) is a 1,000-seat theater that was built in 1915 at 12 West North Avenue in the Central Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Formerly a movie theater, it closed in 2007 and has not been in use much since that time, except for a scene in the movie adaptation of One for the Money starring Katherine Heigl filmed in July 2010. The city of Pittsburgh hopes to revitalize the theater, and it was placed on the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations by the Pittsburgh City Council on March 25, 2008.

The Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a building from 1904. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Notable graduates include William N. Robson, award-winning writer, director, and producer from the old-time radio era and Dorothy Mae Richardson, an African American community activist whose work was essential to the founding of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation. American novelist Willa Cather taught English and Latin at Allegheny High School, where she came to head the English department. The building is now the Pittsburgh Allegheny 6-8, a magnet school located in the North Side.

City of Asylum (more formally City of Asylum/Pittsburgh) is a nonprofit organization based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that houses writers exiled from their countries for their controversial writing. It provides them with free housing, health care and access to social services and resettlement in the United States. Their expanded mission involves the Alphabet City venue, Sampsonia Way magazine, and organizing Jazz Poetry Month in Pittsburgh. Henry Reese and Diane Samuels founded Pittsburgh's City of Asylum in 2004. The organization has a community-based model, with the hopes of integrating the exiled writers into the United States. Exiled writers accepted to the program are granted up to four years of housing. It also gives financial and medical support for their families for two years, giving them ample time and means to adjust to life in the United States.In November 2016, it became the US headquarters for the International Cities of Refuge Network (ICORN). It was also described as a “model for the world.” City of Asylum hosts more than 175 cultural and literary events every year which are free to the public. In 2017, the organization would repurpose an old masonic lodge into their main headquarters called Alphabet City.

Malta Temple (also known as the Salvation Army Building) located at 100 West North Avenue in the Central Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was built in 1927. The building was once the home of a fraternal order called the Order of Malta. It then became a Salvation Army building. In a 5 to 2 decision, the Pittsburgh Planning Commission voted to save this building from demolition in 2008. The building was added to the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations on August 5, 2008.

The Hanauer-Rosenberg residence is located at 417 Lockhart Street in the nationally and locally historic neighborhood of Deutschtown in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Built in 1888 in the Richardsonian Romanesque architectural style, the building was the residence of Pauline Hanauer-Rosenberg, founder of the National Council of Jewish Women. In March 2020, the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission awarded a State Historic Marker at the residence to recognize Rosenberg's work. Also in 2020, the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office determined the residence eligible to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In May 2020, Preservation Pittsburgh nominated the residence to be considered a City of Pittsburgh Historic Landmark and in July 2020, the City of Pittsburgh's Historic Review Commission determined that this nomination was viable.
