Richard Bland College

WKYV (100.3 MHz) is a commercial FM radio station, licensed to Petersburg, Virginia and serving the Greater Richmond Region in Virginia. The station is branded as "K-Love" and features a Contemporary Christian format. The station is owned by Educational Media Foundation (EMF). WKYV's transmitter is located off Johnson Road in Petersburg.

The Petersburg Sports Complex is a multi-purpose athletic venue located in Petersburg, Virginia, United States. The facility includes four softball and one baseball field, the latter which seats 2,500. In addition to the field, the facility features a concession stand, restrooms, press boxes, offices, a public address system, and a scoreboard. The baseball field was home to the Petersburg Generals of the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate summer baseball league.The baseball field's dimensions are 320 ft. down the lines, 350 ft. to the gaps, and 375 ft. to dead center field.

The Battle of Globe Tavern, also known as the Second Battle of the Weldon Railroad, fought August 18–21, 1864, south of Petersburg, Virginia, was the second attempt of the Union Army to sever the Weldon Railroad during the siege of Petersburg of the American Civil War. A Union force under Maj. Gen. Gouverneur K. Warren destroyed miles of track and withstood strong attacks from Confederate troops under Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard and Lt. Gen. A.P. Hill. It was the first Union victory in the Richmond–Petersburg Campaign. It forced the Confederates to carry their supplies 30 miles (48 km) by wagon to bypass the new Union lines that were extended farther to the south and west.

Poplar Grove National Cemetery is near Petersburg, Virginia, and is managed as part of Petersburg National Battlefield.

The Battle of Jerusalem Plank Road, also known as the First Battle of the Weldon Railroad, was a battle of the American Civil War fought June 21–23, 1864, near Petersburg, Virginia. It was the first of a series of battles during the Siege of Petersburg aimed at extending the Union siege lines to the west and cutting the rail lines supplying Petersburg. Two infantry corps of the Union Army of the Potomac attempted to sever the railroad, but were attacked and driven off by the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia's Third Corps, principally the division of Brig. Gen. William Mahone. The inconclusive battle left the Weldon Railroad temporarily in Confederate hands, but the Union Army began to extend its fortifications to the west, starting to increase the pressure of the siege.

King's Barbecue was a sit-down barbecue restaurant in Petersburg, Virginia.

Lee Memorial Park is a historic park and national historic district located at Petersburg, Virginia. The district includes two contributing buildings, three contributing sites, and two contributing structures. They are the park superintendent's house, the bathhouse, Willcox Lake reservoir, the Civil War earthworks, the park's system of roadways, paths and trails, the park's general topography and the Lee Park Wild Flower and Bird Sanctuary created by the Works Progress Administration between 1935 and 1940. As part of the W.P.A. project, Petersburg artist Bessie Niemeyer Marshall painted 238 watercolors of Lee Park herbarium specimens. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.

St. Vincent de Paul High School was a private, parochial high school in Petersburg, Virginia until 2001. Its campus was at 240 Wagner Road, which had been the campus of its predecessor, the Bollingbrook School.

Bon Secours - Southside Medical Center is a 300-bed hospital near the Petersburg, VA tri-cities, VA area. The hospital was originally started in 1948 by the city of Petersburg, but was sold to Community Health Systems (a conglomerate based in Tennessee) in 2003 and relocated. The hospital is designated as a Level III Trauma Center by the Virginia Department of Health.

The Battle of Petersburg was an unsuccessful Union assault against the earthworks fortification, the Dimmock Line, protecting the city of Petersburg, Virginia, June 9, 1864, during the American Civil War. Because of the ragtag group of defenders involved, it is sometimes known as the Battle of Old Men and Young Boys.
