Dazaifu (government)

The Dazaifu Gakkōin (大宰府学校院跡) was a university in Nara and Heian period Japan, located in what is now the city of Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. The site was designated a National Historic Site of Japan in 1949, with the area under protection adjusted in 1970.

Kaidan-in (戒壇院) is a Rinzai temple in Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It was founded by Ganjin in 761. Together with Tōdai-ji in Nara and Yakushi-ji in Tochigi Prefecture, it was one of Japan's three official ordination halls during the Nara period.

Kanzeon-ji (観世音寺) is a seventh-century Buddhist temple in Dazaifu, Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It was once the most important temple in Kyushu. Its bell, one of the oldest in the country, has been designated a National Treasure, and in 1996 the Ministry of the Environment designated its sound as one of the 100 Soundscapes of Japan. Many of its statues from the Heian period are Important Cultural Properties.

Higashitaniguchi-ike is an earthfill dam located in Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan. The dam is used for irrigation. The catchment area of the dam is km2. The dam impounds about 1 ha of land when full and can store 11 thousand cubic meters of water. The construction of the dam was completed in 1937.

Tofurōmae Station (都府楼前駅, Tofurōmae-eki) is a passenger railway station located in the city of Dazaifu, Fukuoka, Japan. It is operated by the private transportation company Nishi-Nippon Railroad (NNR), and has station number T14.

Dazaifu (太宰府市, Dazaifu-shi) is a city located in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. As of 31 March 2024, the city had an estimated population of 71,505 in 33204 households, and a population density of 260 persons per km². The total area of the city is 29.60 km2 (11.43 sq mi).

The Kokubu Tile Kiln ruins (国分瓦窯跡, Kokubu kawara gama ato) is an archaeological site with the ruins of a Nara period kiln, located in the city of Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture Japan. It was designated a National Historic Site of Japan in 1922.

Nishitetsu Gojō Station (西鉄五条駅, Nishitetsu-Gojō-eki) is a passenger railway station located in the city of Dazaifu Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by the private transportation company Nishi-Nippon Railroad (NNR), and has station number D01.

The siege of Iwaya Castle (岩屋城の戦い) was fought in the year 1585 when an army of the Shimazu clan put the castle of Iwaya, which belonged to the Takahashi clan who were vassals of the Ōtomo clan, under siege. After the defeat of the Ryūzōji clan at the Battle of Okitanawate in 1584, Shimazu Yoshihisa refocused his attentions on the Ōtomo clan and a campaign was started against their dominions. The siege of Iwaya Castle resulted after the Shimazu invasion of Chikuzen Province. The castellan of Iwaya was Takahashi Shigetane, one of the most trusted retainers of the Ōtomo, and held the fortress with a small garrison of around 763 soldiers. When the invading army of around 35,000 soldiers put the castle under siege the situation seemed untenable, but the castle managed to hold for two weeks. When Shigetane realized he could not hold the fortress any longer, he committed seppuku and all soldiers suicide attack. The Shimazu took the castle and were impressed with Shigetane's loyal conduct; they are said to have prayed for his deceased spirit.

Fukuoka Social Medical Welfare University (福岡医療福祉大学, Fukuoka Iryō Fukushi Daigaku) was a private university in Dazaifu, Fukuoka, Japan. The school was founded in 2002 and adopted the present name in 2008. It closed in 2017.

Nishitetsu Futsukaichi Station (西鉄二日市駅, Nishitetsu Futsukaichi-eki) is a junction passenger railway station located in the city of Chikushino, Fukuoka, Japan. It is operated by the private transportation company Nishi-Nippon Railroad (NNR), and has station number T13.

Fukuoka Junior College for Kindergarten Teachers (福岡こども短期大学, Fukuoka Kodomo Tanki Daigaku) is a private junior college in Dazaifu, Fukuoka, Japan, established in 1975. The present name of the school was adopted in 2008.
