The Communications Security Establishment (CSE; French: Centre de la sécurité des télécommunications, CST), formerly (from 2008-2014) called the Communications Security Establishment Canada (CSEC), is the Government of Canada's national cryptologic agency. It is responsible for foreign signals intelligence (SIGINT) and communications security (COMSEC), protecting federal government electronic information and communication networks, and is the technical authority for cyber security and information assurance.Formally administered under the Department of National Defence (DND), the CSE is now a separate agency under the National Defence portfolio. The CSE is accountable to the Minister of National Defence through its deputy head, the Chief of CSE. The National Defence Minister is in turn accountable to the Cabinet and Parliament. The current Chief of the CSE is Caroline Xavier, who assumed the office on 31 August 2022.In 2015, the agency built a new headquarters and campus encompassing 340,000 m2 (84 acres). The facility totals a little over 110,000 m2 (1,200,000 sq ft) and is adjacent to CSIS.

Gloucester ( GLOST-ər) is a former municipality and now geographic area of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Located east of Ottawa's inner core, it was an independent city until amalgamated with the Regional Municipality of Ottawa–Carleton in 2001 to become the new city of Ottawa. The population of Gloucester is about 150,012 people (2021 Census).

Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward (Ward 11) is a city ward in Ottawa, Ontario. Located in the city's east end, the ward is bordered to the west by Blair Road from the Ottawa River to Ogilvie Road and St. Laurent Boulevard south of it, the south by the Via Rail train line and Innes Ward, to the east by Green's Creek and Regional Road 174 and to the north by the Ottawa River. It includes the communities of Cyrville, Rothwell Heights, Beacon Hill and Pineview.

Blair is a station on Ottawa's transitway and O-Train located at Blair Road and Regional Road 174. It is a major transfer point for commuters within urban Gloucester and Orléans.

The National Science Library (NSL), formerly known as the Canada Institute for Scientific and Technical Information or CISTI, began in 1917 as the library of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). NRC is the Government of Canada's premier research and technology organization (RTO), working with clients and partners to provide innovation support, strategic research, scientific and technical services. The library took on the role of national science library unofficially in 1957 and became the official National Science Library in 1966.The National Science Library is located in Ottawa, Ontario, and houses one of the world's most comprehensive collections of publications in science, technology, engineering and medicine. It is part of NRC's Knowledge, Information and Technology Services Branch and provides NRC and Canada's research community with information and information services to accelerate discovery, innovation and commercialization. The NRC Research Press joined the library in 1992. On September 1, 2010, NRC Research Press became a private company called Canadian Science Publishing and is no longer directly affiliated with CISTI or the NRC.

The National Research Council Canada (NRC; French: Conseil national de recherches Canada) is the primary national agency of the Government of Canada dedicated to science and technology research and development. It is the largest federal research and development organization in Canada.The Minister of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development (currently, François-Philippe Champagne) is responsible for the NRC.

Carson Grove is a neighbourhood in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The neighbourhood spans the former Ottawa-Gloucester boundary, which still forms the boundary between Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward and Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward. The neighbourhood was built in the early 1970s by the Campeau Corporation, and was named for John Carson, an early settler in the region. The neighbourhood was expanded in the mid-1990s with the building of Carson Village, which was developed by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.The neighbourhood is roughly bounded on the west by the Aviation Parkway, on the North by Collège La Cité, on the South by Ogilvie Road and on the east by Blair Road. Some sources give Montreal Road as the northern boundary and Bathgate Road as the eastern border.According to the Canada 2016 Census, the neighbourhood had a population of 2,918.

The Earl Armstrong Arena is an indoor arena in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is used as an ice hockey arena in the winter to house the Ottawa Canadians Jr. team and in the summer uses its slab for lacrosse where the Gloucester Griffins Jr "B" team call home. It is located in the former city of Gloucester, at 2020 Ogilvy Road, adjacent to Gloucester High School. It is named after Reeve Earl Armstrong of Gloucester township.The area was host to the first, inaugural World Ringette Championships at the 1990 World Ringette Championships. A Canadian team, Team Alberta, took home the gold medal and the Sam Jacks Trophy whose design was changed in 1996.

La Cité, also called Collège La Cité and previously La Cité collégiale, is the largest French-language college in Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1989 in Ottawa (with a satellite campus in Hawkesbury and a business office in Toronto), it offers more than 90 programs to some 5,000 full-time students from Ontario, other parts of Canada, and foreign countries. In 2011, La Cité ranked first among the 24 Ontario colleges in terms of student satisfaction, graduate employment rate, usefulness of knowledge and skills acquired, overall quality of learning experiences, and overall quality of services; according to the results of an annual survey by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The college ranked second in terms of overall quality of the facilities.In 2012 and 2013, La Cité was also recognized through Mediacorp Canada Inc.’s annual study ranking Canada’s top employers as one of the National Capital Region’s top 25 employers, while being also named among the 200 most recommended employers in the country.

Gloucester High School is a high school in the Beacon Hill neighbourhood of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The school was founded in 1963 by the former Gloucester School Board. The school can harbour approximately 1,600 students. Gloucester High School provides education to grades 9 through 12 through a semestered curriculum as established by the Ontario Ministry of Education. The school has several clubs and organizations including Gators for Ghana, concert band, Reach for the Top, GHS Radio, Fashion Club, a school newspaper, the Gator Gazette; Gator Athletic Society and Gator Television (GTV). In 2010, Gloucester's Reach for the Top team came 4th at the national finals. Gloucester high School has many successful sports teams. Athletic teams include basketball, cheerleading, field hockey, football, golf, ice hockey, Nordic skiing, rugby, soccer, track and field, volleyball, and wrestling.

Pineview (also spelled Pine View) is a neighbourhood in Beacon Hill-Cyrville Ward in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Prior to amalgamation in 2001, the neighbourhood was part of the City of Gloucester. As of the Canada 2021 Census, the neighbourhood had a population of 6,179. It is bounded by the Queensway on the north, Highway 417 to the west, the Greenbelt on the east and Innes Road to the south. Its adjacent neighbourhoods are Beacon Hill, Blackburn Hamlet and Cyrville. Carson Meadows is a neighbourhood in Rideau-Rockcliffe Ward in the east end of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is roughly located south of Montreal Road and north of Collège La Cité, west of the National Research Council National Science Library site, and generally east of Carsons Road. This area has an approximate population of 3300 (2016 Census). The neighbourhood has a plurality Francophone population. The five dissemination areas that cover most of the area together are 40% Francophone and 39% Anglophone. Creole languages are the third largest linguistic group at 6%.The area was once known as Rockville, with a post office opening up in 1871. The area went through a number of names such as Robillard and Rock Village, with the post office being renamed to Quarries in 1903, and closing in 1961. The area was home to a number of quarries which provided stones for Parliament Buildings among other places in the Ottawa area. The quarries would later be renamed. The "Quarries" name still appears on some maps of the area, as it is recorded under that name by the Geographical Names Data Base.A subdivision was built in the area in the early 1960s by Mastercraft Homes, and sold by Guaranty Trust Company of Canada. This subdivision was originally called Carson's Meadows. As of 1965, the neighbourhood consisted of a few houses on Hochelaga Street, the Carson Hill Apartments on Carsons Road, and a subdivision between Bermuda Avenue and Charleswood Avenue. Over the next decade, the Summerhill subdivision was built on Bathgate Dr, as well as the Hochelaga Rental Homes, the CrossWinds apartments, Las Brisas apartments and the Carson's Community Ottawa Housing project. By 1991, the Bathgate Court Ottawa Housing project and the Concorde Apartments were built. Over the next decade, the Desloges Cooperative Housing was built.
