The Balad al-Shaykh massacre was the killing of a large number of Arab villagers by the Haganah in the Palestinian Arab village of Balad al-Shaykh hours after the Haifa Oil Refinery massacre during the early stages of the 1947–1948 civil war in Mandatory Palestine. It was one of the largest, and earliest, massacres during the 1948 Palestine war. The massacre took place in the early morning and between 21 and 70 adult Arab men were killed. At least two women and five children were also killed. The killings had a significant effect on morale amongst Palestinian civilians in the Haifa region. Two Haganah attackers were also killed and two others were injured.

Balad al-Sheikh (traditional transliteration) or Balad ash-Shaykh (most recent form of transliteration; Arabic: بلد الشيخ) was a Palestinian Arab village located just north of Mount Carmel, 7 kilometers (4.3 mi) southeast of Haifa. Currently the town's land is located within the jurisdiction of the Israeli city, Nesher.

The William Davidson Faculty of Industrial Engineering & Management is an academic faculty of the Technion and the oldest such department in Israel. The department is currently headed by Prof. Carmel Domshlak and is based in the Cooper and Bloomfield buildings at Technion City. The department employs 54 faculty members, who in 2006 served a total of 600 graduate and 1000 undergraduate students.

The Elyachar Central Library is the central body in the Technion library system. As such, it has a dual role: to provide an infrastructure for all the Technion libraries and to provide various services to its patrons. The Central Library determines policies and guidelines for all the Technion libraries. The library's building is located in the heart of the Nave-Shaanan Campus in Haifa. Funding for the building was contributed by Colonel Jehiel Elyachar and the library is named after him.

The Technion's Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning (Hebrew: הפקולטה לארכיטקטורה ובינוי ערים) was established in Haifa in December 1924, as one of the Technion’s first two departments. The program trains architects, landscape architects, urban planners, and industrial designers. Urban planning and industrial design are offered as advanced degrees.The Faculty is housed in the Segoe and Amado buildings on the Technion Campus. It was the last department to relocate from the Technion's historic site in the Hadar HaCarmel neighborhood in 1985. Technion International (TI) is the international department of Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, which was ranked as the best university in Israel and the Middle East. Located in Haifa, Israel, Technion International was founded in 2009 in order to oversee Technion’s international academic endeavors. Technion International offers a variety of programs, including "full undergraduate and graduate programs, postdoctoral fellowships, study abroad programs, summer programs for gifted teens, research internships as well as entrepreneurship programs". As of 2018, "Technion has academic collaboration agreements with 232 universities in 41 countries and 36 medical school agreements".Technion International has two international affiliates: the Jacobs Technion-Cornell Institute, with partnership with Cornell University, and the Guangdong Technion Israel Institute of Technology, located in Shantou, Guangdong Province, China. It is the first Israeli university to establish joint campuses oversees.

The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology (Hebrew: הטכניון – מכון טכנולוגי לישראל) is a public research university located in Haifa, Israel. Established in 1912 under the dominion of the Ottoman Empire, the Technion is the oldest university in the country. The Technion is ranked as the top university in both Israel and the Middle East, and in the top 100 universities in the world in the Academic Ranking of World Universities of 2019.The university offers degrees in science and engineering, and related fields such as architecture, medicine, industrial management, and education. It has 19 academic departments, 60 research centers, and 12 affiliated teaching hospitals. Since its founding, it has awarded more than 100,000 degrees and its graduates are cited for providing the skills and education behind the creation and protection of the State of Israel.Technion's 565 faculty members include three Nobel Laureates in chemistry. Four Nobel Laureates have been associated with the university. The current president of the Technion is Uri Sivan.The selection of Hebrew as the language of instruction, defeating German in the War of the Languages, was an important milestone in Hebrew's consolidation as Israel's official language. The Technion is also a major factor behind the growth of Israel's high-tech industry and innovation, including the country's technical cluster in Silicon Wadi.

The Russell Berrie Nanotechnology Institute (RBNI) was established in January 2005 as a joint endeavour of the Russell Berrie Foundation, the government of Israel and the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. It is one of the largest academic programs in Israel and is among the largest nanotechnology centers in the world.Prof. Yeshayahu Talmon of the Technion Faculty of Chemical Engineering is the Director of RBNI since 2010, when he took over from Prof. Uri Sivan.RBNI has over 110 faculty members and approximately 300 graduate students and postdoctoral fellows under its auspices at Technion. Its multidisciplinary activities span 14 different faculties.

Yajur (Arabic: ياجور, Yâjûr) was a Palestinian Arab village located 9.5 kilometres (5.9 mi) southeast of Haifa. It was depopulated during the 1947–48 Civil War in Mandatory Palestine on April 25, 1948.

Haifa Bay central bus station (Hebrew: מרכזית המפרץ, Merkazit HaMifratz, Arabic: مركزيّة هامفراتس (شاطئ حيفا) , Mirakazeat Hamifrats), known also as HaMifratz central bus station is the main bus station of the Haifa Bay (Mifratz Haifa) area. It is co-located with HaMifratz Central railway station and is adjacent to Lev HaMifratz Mall. It opened in 2002 and was substantially renovated and expanded in the late 2010s.

Lev HaMifratz Mall (Hebrew: קניון לב המפרץ, Kanyon Lev HaMifratz, lit. Heart of the Bay Mall), officially branded Cinemall, is a shopping mall located in Haifa, Israel.Lev HaMifratz has three floors of stores, a food court, an underground parking garage, and an above ground parking garage. In the past, it included an amusement park, a miniature golf course and an ice skating rink.The area around Lev HaMifratz is also a transportation hub. Behind it is a train station, with trains to Nahariya and Tel Aviv. The entrance to the station is from the above ground parking garage. It is also adjacent to the Haifa Bay Central Bus Station, which is the main junction between the Krayot and the city of Haifa.During construction, the mall was hit by an Iraqi Scud missile in the course of the 1991 Gulf War.

The Younes and Soraya Nazarian Library is a central academic library of the University of Haifa, and one of the largest in Israel. It is also one of the most progressive Israeli libraries in terms of service, collection, physical space, and library information systems. Since its founding in 1963, the Library has operated under one roof and is managed by a central administration. The Library offers academic information expertise for locating the wide range of material in its holdings and accessible via the Internet. The Library's role in the University's academic activity is based on professional specialization, which enables provision of information services in a wide variety of disciplines and information types. The Library devotes many resources to the development, preservation and digitization of special collections, such as dissertations, research publications, historical photographs of the Land of Israel, and archives of theatrical and performing arts. The collections, which are displayed under Digital Projects and Archives - Digital Collections, contribute to instruction and research in the University and beyond. Special emphasis is placed on ensuring accessibility in both the short and long term to the academic community and to the general public interested in matters of heritage preservation. An additional distinctive project is the production of the Index to Hebrew Periodicals, a database of Hebrew Language articles and periodicals.
