Langley Hall, Cheshire

Langley is a semi-rural village in civil parish of Sutton, in the Cheshire East district, in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England, on the River Bollin, near Macclesfield and Macclesfield Forest. In 2020 it had an estimated population of 554.Langley Mill, founded by William Smith in 1826, became the biggest silk printing, dyeing and finishing works in the world. The mill later went on to become Specialised Automobile Services, a specialist wire wheel manufacturer for classic and modern cars. The painter Charles Tunnicliffe was born in Langley and painted many birds at the four reservoirs behind the village in Macclesfield Forest. The village pub, The St Dunstan, is located on Main Road (the main road through the village). Langley also has a Methodist church and a village hall.

Sutton Lane Ends or Sutton is a semi-rural village and civil parish, approximately one mile south of Macclesfield. In 2020 it had an estimated population of 936. The parish includes the villages of Langley and Oakgrove and the hamlets of Gurnett, Jarman and Lyme Green. Sutton is in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. The rivers Bollin and Rosendale run through Sutton Lane Ends, as does the Macclesfield Canal. The population of the entire civil parish is 2,464. In the past, the community was centred on farming, forestry and textiles; however, since these industries declined, most of the population now travel to nearby Macclesfield or Manchester for employment.Sutton Lane Ends has had an Anglican church, Sutton St. James, since 1840. The community of Sutton is served by a village shop, primary school (Hollinhey Primary School) and five public houses.

Tegg's Nose is a hill east of Macclesfield in Cheshire, England. It has a short ridge with a high point of 380 metres (1246 feet) at SJ947725, terminating in a promontory at the southern end. It lies on the western edge of the Peak District, although outside the boundary of the national park. Much of the hill's area falls within the Tegg's Nose Country Park, managed by Cheshire East Council Countryside Management Service; Tegg's Nose is also part of the Environmentally Sensitive Area Scheme.Historically quarried for millstone grit, Tegg's Nose now includes a range of environments including moorland, meadow, farmland, broadleaved woodland and is rich in wildlife. Recreational uses of the area include walking, orienteering, horse riding, fell running, cycling, mountain biking, rock climbing, sledging and fishing.

Sutton Hall is a former country house to the west of the village of Sutton Lane Ends, Cheshire, England. The present building dates from the middle of the 17th century, with additions and alterations in the late 18th century, and replaced a previous manor house. It has since been converted into a pub/restaurant.

Higher Hurdsfield is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and the ceremonial county of Cheshire, England. Higher Hurdsfield Parish Council is the lowest tier of government serving the residents. It has a population of around 300, increasing at the 2011 Census to 717, and is situated on the eastern outskirts of Macclesfield, approximately 7 miles (11 km) from the border of Derbyshire and Cheshire. The nearest village is Rainow. Hurdsfield Golf Club (now defunct) was founded in 1900. The club continued until the time of WW2.

Macclesfield Cenotaph is a World War I memorial in Park Green, Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. It was unveiled in 1921, and consists of a stone pillar and pedestal and three bronze statues. One statue is that of a mourning female, and the others comprise Britannia laying a wreath over a soldier who had died from gassing, an unusual subject for a war memorial at the time. The memorial is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building.

Hurdsfield House is a former country house, now surrounded by housing, in the town of Macclesfield, Cheshire, England. It was built for a branch of the Brocklehurst family. During the 20th century it was used as a welfare clinic. The house dates from about 1800, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed in brick with stone dressings, and has Welsh slate roofs. The house is in three storeys, and its entrance front, facing west, has five bays. In the central bay is a porch with a Doric architrave, over which is a balcony with wrought iron railings. Behind and above this is a tall window with an entablature. The windows are sashes, and at the corners of the house are quoins. The south front originally had three bays, and a further bay has been added to the right. In the angle at the rear of the house is an extension added later in the 19th century. The house is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building. It has been divided into flats.

Macclesfield railway station is a main line station serving the Cheshire market town of Macclesfield. It lies on the Stafford to Manchester branch of the West Coast Main Line in the United Kingdom. Facilities at the station include ticket sales, a kiosk, a waiting room and public toilets. Before the bus station was relocated and rebuilt in 2004, the railway and bus stations were sited very close to each other. It is one of the three stations that provide access to the Middlewood Way, which follows the route of the former Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Railway.
