Schönborn Palace (Prague)

The Embassy of the United States of America in Prague is the diplomatic mission of the United States of America in the Czech Republic. The chancery is located on Vlašská street in Malá Strana, Prague, where it occupies the historic Schönborn Palace and possesses an extensive garden.The premises also include the American Center, a public research facility, library and venue for lectures on American history, politics, science and culture. Past lecturers include Greil Marcus, Patricia Hampl, David Woodard, Gene Deitch and many others.

The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (Czech: Akademie múzických umění v Praze, AMU) is a university in the centre of Prague, Czech Republic, specialising in the study of music, dance, drama, film, television and multi-media. It is the largest art school in the Czech Republic, with more than 350 educators and researchers, and 1500 students.The academy consists of three faculties: a Film and TV School (FAMU); Music and Dance Faculty (HAMU); and Theatre Faculty (DAMU), offering Bachelor, Masters, and Doctoral level courses, as well as conducting artistic research, and in some departments also research in art history and theory. AMU has two cross-faculty pedagogical facilities: a Languages Centre and a Sports, Rehabilitation and Movement Centre. The university also has two facilities outside Prague designed for residential multi-day creative projects.

The Lichtenštejnský palác on Malostranské náměstí is one of two palaces in Prague that formerly belonged to the Princely Family of Liechtenstein. The other is the Liechtenstein Palace (Kampa Island, Prague). The restored building now houses a music conservatory (the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague) and is often the venue for recitals and concerts. The Liechtenstein Palace on the Kampa Island also occasionally hosts cultural events.

Morzin Palace (Czech: Morzinský palác, German: Palais Morzin) is a baroque palace in Malá Strana, Prague, named after the Morzin family for whom it was built.

The Vrtba Garden (Czech: Vrtbovská zahrada) in Prague is one of several fine High Baroque gardens in the Czech capital. Like three other Baroque gardens (the Vratislav, Schönborn, and Lobkowicz palace gardens) the Vrtba Garden is situated on the slope of Petřín Hill, in the Malá Strana section of the city. In the midst of an expansive moment in Prague's history during the 1710s and 1720s, the garden was laid out by František Maxmilián Kaňka, who was renovating the Vrtba palace for Jan Josef, Count of Vrtba. Though the palace has undergone extensive reconstructions in the succeeding centuries, the garden retained its Baroque features and the original statuary and sculptural decor by Matyáš Bernard Braun. In addition, the fresco interiors of the Sala Terrena that links palace and garden, executed by Václav Vavřinec Reiner, have also survived. Facing the Sala Terrena across a central pool is a matching former aviary. Between 1990 and 1998 the Vrtba Garden underwent structural conservation and extensive replanting and was reopened for public in June 1998. The formal garden in the French style laid out in clipped scrolling asymmetrical broderies of boxwood in gravel on three terraced levels makes use of an irregular steep slope more characteristic of Italian garden sites, in a cramped space that was already densely built over when the garden was established. It is listed for its historic cultural values by UNESCO. Today the garden is entered from the base, through a discreet gate in Karmelitská Street. It is often used as a venue for weddings, receptions and other celebrations.

Valkounsky House (Czech: Valkounský dům) is a house at 14 Nerudova street in northwestern Prague, Czech Republic, to the southeast of Prague Castle. It is named after the original owner, Knight Bohuchval Valkoun from Adlar, from the beginning of the 17th century. It is now run as a hostel (Hostel Santini Prague).

The Embassy of Italy in Prague (Italian: Ambasciata d'Italia a Praga) is located on Nerudova street in Mala Strana, Prague, next door to the church of Our Lady of Caetans and opposite the Romanian Embassy. It occupies the large Thun-Hohenstein Palace, which is named after the Thun und Hohenstein family. The embassy's baroque facade features a doorway guarded by two carved eagles.

The Church of Saint Nicholas (Czech: Kostel svatého Mikuláše) is a church in Vršovice in Prague 10. There has been a church here since at least the 11th century, although this building with its neo-gothic façade was built in the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Church of Saint Nicholas (Czech: Kostel svatého Mikuláše) is a Baroque church in the Lesser Town of Prague. It was built between 1704-1755 on the site where formerly a Gothic church from the 13th century stood, which was also dedicated to Saint Nicholas. It has been described as the greatest example of Prague Baroque.

A studio Rubín is a historic building and theatre located at Malostranske Namesti. 262/9, 118 00 Praha Mala Strana in Prague in the Czech Republic. It is located in a late medieval building known as the "House of the Three Crowns", which was built around 1465 and since 1484 served as a hospital. It was later rebuilt in 1603 and from 1684 has served as a residential house. Today's appearance of the facade is from 1883.

The Infant Jesus of Prague (Czech: Pražské Jezulátko: Spanish: Niño Jesús de Praga) is a 16th-century wax-coated wooden statue of the Child Jesus holding a globus cruciger of Spanish origin, now located in the Discalced Carmelite Church of Our Lady of Victories in Malá Strana, Prague, Czech Republic. First appearing in 1556, pious legends claim that the statue once belonged to Teresa of Ávila and was consequently donated to the Carmelite friars by Princess Polyxena of Lobkowicz in 1628. The image is routinely clothed by the Carmelite nuns in luxurious fabrics with imperial regalia and a golden crown while his left hand holds a globus cruciger and the right hand raised in a gesture of benediction. It is venerated on Christmas day and the first Sunday of May commemorating both its centenary and “episcopal coronation” in 1655.Pope Leo XII signed and granted its first pontifical decree of canonical coronation on 24 September 1824, notarized by Cardinal Pietro Francesco Galleffi on behalf of the Patriarchal Council of the “Vatican Chapter”, as the first Christological image granted this prestigious honor. On 30 March 1913, Pope Pius X granted authorization via the decree “Significat Nobis” to erect a namesake confraternity based on former regulations promulgated by Pope Clement VIII, which was signed and notarized by Cardinal Rafael Merry del Val.Pope Benedict XVI crowned the image for the second time during his Apostolic visit to the Czech Republic on 26 September 2009. The venerated image, along with its canoness custodians will celebrate its 200 years of pontifical coronation in 2024.
