Beaconsfield

The town of Beaconsfield formed a local government district in the administrative county of Buckinghamshire, England from 1850 to 1974. It was administered as a local board district from 1850 to 1894, and as an urban district from 1894 to 1974.

The National Film and Television School (NFTS) is a film, television and games school established in 1971 and based at Beaconsfield Studios in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England. It is featured in the 2021 ranking by The Hollywood Reporter of the top 15 international film schools.Its community of students makes around a hundred and fifty films a year on courses that are over 90% practical and unlike courses offered at other UK film schools. As of 2021 it had over 500 students and about a fifteen hundred a year on its short courses delivered in Beaconsfield and at its hubs in Glasgow, Leeds and Cardiff. Beaconsfield Studios consists of film and television stages; animation and production design studios; edit suites; sound post-production facilities; a music recording studio and four dubbing theatres. The school completed an expansion and modernisation programme in early 2017 with new teaching facilities, a third cinema and a new 4K Television Studio. The BBC stated that the NFTS was the "leading centre of excellence for education in film and television programme making", and noted that it was "relevant to the industry's present and future needs." British Film Magazine once described the NFTS as being one of the few schools to come "very, very close" to guaranteeing a job in the film industry, and named its leader (Powell) a "maverick"; Filmmaking.net named it one of two films schools outside the US which had such a high international reputation.NFTS student films have been nominated for an Oscar three times in the last six years. Additionally, in 2017 NFTS graduation film, A Love Story, directed and co-written by Anushka Naanayakkara, won the British Short Animation BAFTA at the EE British Academy Film Awards, making it the fourth year in a row that NFTS students have picked up this accolade. This is the second consecutive year that two of NFTS students' graduation films competed for the same prize, with A Love Story up against The Alan Dimension directed and co-written by Jac Clinch. NFTS student films are regularly selected for the top film festivals around the world. In 2016–17 highlights included selections at Cannes and Annecy Animation Festival and top prizes in nearly all the Royal Television Society categories for which they are eligible.In 2018, the school was the recipient of the BAFTA Outstanding British Contribution to Cinema Award at the 71st British Academy Film Awards.

Beaconsfield Film Studios is a British television and film studio in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. The studios were operational as a production site for films in 1922, and continued producing films - and, later, TV shows - until the 1960s. Britain's first talking movie was recorded there, as were films starring British actors Gracie Fields, Peter Sellers and John Mills. Since 1971 it has been the home of the National Film and Television School, an internationally recognized postgraduate school for film and TV production, famous as the birthplace of the animated characters Wallace and Gromit.

The first Minor Counties Championship match played on the ground came when Buckinghamshire played Norfolk in 1967. From 1967 to 1975 and 1989 to 2005 the ground has hosted 26 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which saw Buckinghamshire play Staffordshire. The ground has also held four MCCA Knockout Trophy matches, the last of which saw Buckinghamshire play Wiltshire in 2005.The ground has also held List-A matches. The first List-A match held on the ground was between Buckinghamshire and Sussex in the 1992 NatWest Trophy. Between 1992 and 2002, the ground played host to five List-A matches, the last of which saw Buckinghamshire play Shropshire in the second round of the 2003 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy which was played in 2003.Wilton Park has also been a venue for Women's One Day International's. The first Women's ODI saw India women play Netherlands women in the 1993 Women's Cricket World Cup.In local domestic cricket, the ground is the home venue of Beaconsfield Cricket Club who play in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League.

The Beaconsfield School is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form with academy status, located in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England. The school has approximately 870 pupils.The most recent Ofsted inspection was on 12 February 2019 where a rating of 'Good' was made for all categories.In 2006 the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) awarded the school specialist school status as an Arts College specialising in both the performing arts and the visual arts.The Beaconsfield School is one of several Buckinghamshire schools which host mobile phone masts. Contracts between Buckinghamshire County Council and various mobile phone operators generate an income of £145,000 per annum, of which about £59,000 comes from contracts for masts that are installed in schools.

Beaconsfield High School is a girls' grammar school in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. The school takes girls from the age of 12 through to the age of 18 (A-levels). In order to gain admission into Beaconsfield High School, students from Buckinghamshire primary schools are required to take the 11+ examination and score an average of 121/141 across at least one exam, although students who score in the region of 117 will be considered for 'appeal'. The school has approximately 1,100 pupils with around 180 in each year group. The school has around 60 classrooms and built a new 'sixth form area' in 2010 which provided around 12 new classrooms, a computer room, a new canteen with a larger seating area and a new common room.

Beaconsfield services is a motorway service station on the M40 motorway in Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire, England. It is operated by Extra, and opened on 17 March 2009. It is the fourth and most recent of the service areas to be built on the 89-mile motorway which links London, Oxford and Birmingham. At its opening, it was the largest motorway service area in the United Kingdom. The petrol station with 36 pumps is also the largest filling station in the country. Petrol stations are provided by Shell and a hotel is operated by Ibis Budget.

Beaconsfield () is a constituency in Buckinghamshire represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2019 by Joy Morrissey of the Conservative Party. She succeeded Independent and former Conservative Dominic Grieve, whom she defeated following his suspension from the party. The constituency was established for the February 1974 general election.
