Skeiane Station (Norwegian: Skeiane stasjon) is a railway station in the city of Sandnes which is in the western part of Sandnes Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The station is located in the southern part of the city centre, a short distance south of the Sandnes Sentrum Station. The station is 15.36 kilometres (9.54 mi) south of the city of Stavanger. The station has a shelter for waiting, but no food, restroom, or ticketing services.This station is served by the local Jæren Commuter Rail service running between Stavanger and Egersund on the Sørlandet Line. The station was the central station for Sandnes between 1955 and 1996 (called Sandnes Station), but was then replaced by a rebuilt Sandnes Sentrum Station. This station was then renamed Sandnes holdeplass (from 1996 until 2017), serving only as a stop for local trains, but officially it remained the main station. To reduce confusion with the now much more used station with similar name, the station was renamed to "Skeiane" from 12 August 2017.

Sandnes (pronounced [ˈsɑ̂nːeːs] ) is a city and municipality in Rogaland, Norway. It lies immediately south of Stavanger, the 4th largest city in Norway, and together the Stavanger/Sandnes area is the third-largest urban area in Norway. The urban city of Sandnes lies in the extreme western part of the vast municipality and it makes up about 5% of the total land area of the municipality. Sandnes is part of the traditional district of Jæren. The western part of the municipality is very urbanized while the eastern part of the municipality is very rural. The municipality is divided into 13 boroughs and the administrative centre is located in the borough of Trones og Sentrum, a borough in the city. There are several villages in the rural parts of the municipality including Hommersåk, Høle, Foss-Eikeland, Stokka, Forsand, Lysebotn, and Vatne. The 1,041-square-kilometre (402 sq mi) municipality is the 109th largest by area out of the 356 municipalities in Norway. Sandnes is the 7th most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 83,382 in 2023. The municipality's population density is 84.3 inhabitants per square kilometre (218/sq mi) and its population has increased by 20.8% over the previous 10-year period.

Trones og Sentrum is a borough of the city of Sandnes in the west part of the large municipality of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. It encompasses the downtown part of the city, at the inner end of the Gandsfjorden. In 2016, this borough had a population of 8,250 and is 2.5 km2 (0.97 sq mi) in size. Sandnes Church is located in this borough.

Sandnes Sentrum Station (Norwegian: Sandnes sentrum stasjon) is a railway station in the city of Sandnes which lies in the western part of Sandnes Municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The station is located in the downtown, harbour area of the city of Sandnes (in the borough of Trones og Sentrum). The station is served by regional trains to Kristiansand and Stavanger along the Sørlandet Line and by local trains on the Jæren Commuter Rail network from Stavanger Station to Egersund Station. This station is located 14.78 kilometres (9.18 mi) south of Stavanger Station. The station has a waiting room, ticket machines, and food kiosks, but few other services.

Jæren District Court (Norwegian: Jæren tingrett) was a district court in Rogaland county, Norway. The court was based at the Sandnes Courthouse located on Olav V's plass in the town of Sandnes. The court existed until 2021. It had jurisdiction over the west central part of the county which included the municipalities of Gjesdal, Hå, Klepp, Sandnes, and Time. Cases from this court could be appealed to Gulating Court of Appeal. The court was led by the chief judge (Sorenskriver) Anne Marie Aarrestad. This court employed a chief judge, ten other judges, and five prosecutors as well as other administrative assistants. Jæren District Court had seven courtrooms. The court was a court of first instance. Its judicial duties were mainly to settle criminal cases and to resolve civil litigation as well as bankruptcy. The administration and registration tasks of the court included death registration, issuing certain certificates, performing duties of a notary public, and officiating civil wedding ceremonies. Cases from this court were heard by a combination of professional judges and lay judges.

Rogaland College was a privately owned college situated about 40 kilometers (25 mi) south of Stavanger in Norway. In January 2006 the college moved to Sandnes 10 km south of Stavanger. Later the same year it merged with Diakonhjemmet University College in Oslo and became Diakonhjemmet University College Campus Rogaland, now it is part of the VID Specialized University. Originally the College was closely connected to the central institution of Nærlandsheimen, an institution for mentally retarded people, owned by the same private owner, Det Norske Diakonforbund (The Norwegian Association of Deacons). The land involved has now been sold to Nærlandparken A/S. To the two main bachelor programmes the College takes 90 new students every year. In addition, decentralized bachelor programme is offered in Haugesund, and the college offers some courses of continuing education. A total of nearly 400 students are being educated at any given time.

Sandnes Church (Norwegian: Sandnes kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the large Sandnes municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Trones og Sentrum in the centre of the city of Sandnes in the far western part of the municipality. It is the church for the Sandnes parish and it is the seat of the Sandnes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The red, brick church was built in a long church design in 1882 using plans drawn up by the architect Hartvig Sverdrup Eckhoff. The neo-gothic church seats about 420 people.

Høyland is a former municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. The 170-square-kilometre (66 sq mi) municipality was located at the innermost end of the Gandsfjorden in the western part of the present-day municipality of Sandnes. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1965. The main church for the municipality was Høyland Church.

Høyland Church (Norwegian: Høyland kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in the large Sandnes municipality in Rogaland county, Norway. It is located in the borough of Austrått in the city of Sandnes in the far western part of the municipality. It is one of the two churches for the Høyland parish which is part of the Sandnes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Stavanger. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1841 using designs by the architect Hans Linstow. The church seats about 650 people.

Lundehaugen (Norwegian: Lundehaugen videregående skole) was an upper secondary school in the municipality of Sandnes, Norway. The school offered several majors, mainly music, dance and drama. The school had close links with Forus Upper Secondary School. It also offered majors in media and communication and sales/services. Since the fall of 2010, Lundehaugen is no longer an upper secondary school but rather a middle school with grades 8th-10th, with higher education moving to the new Vågen Upper Secondary School.

Sandved is a borough of the city of Sandnes in the west part of the large municipality of Sandnes in Rogaland county, Norway. The 2.5-square-kilometre (0.97 sq mi) borough has a population (2016) of 6,034. The borough is located just south of the downtown part of the city. The local sports team is Sandved IL, and Sandneshallen is located here. The local church is Gand Church.
