Tangasseri

Mount Carmel Convent Anglo-Indian Girls High School is an English-medium all-through school in Tangasseri, Kollam District in Kerala, India. Located on the shores of the Arabian Sea, it consists of a day school, and a boarding house located within the convent. The school was founded on 22 July 1885 by Mother Veronica of the Passion. It was one of the first English-medium schools in the Kollam District, and is one of its two originally Anglo-Indian schools. The school awards qualifications based on the ICSE/ISC syllabus.

The Diocese of Quilon is a Latin Church ecclesiastical jurisdiction or diocese of the Catholic Church based in the southern Indian city of Kollam. It is a suffragan in the ecclesiastical province of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Trivandrum. The Diocese of Quilon covers an area of 1,950 km2 (753 square miles) that contains a population of some 4.8 million. At least 4.8% of the people in the area are Catholic. The history of the Latin Church in Quilon begins with the erection of a diocese on 9 August 1329. This diocese was later suppressed. The present day Diocese of Quilon was established as a apostolic vicariate on 15 March 1853 by bifurcating the Apostolic Vicariate of Verapoly. It was elevated as a diocese on 1 September 1886. As of 18 April 2018, Paul Antony Mullassery is the bishop of the Diocese of Quilon.

Tangasseri Lighthouse or Thangassery Lighthouse is situated at Tangasseri in Kollam city of the Indian state of Kerala. It is one of the two lighthouses in the Kollam Metropolitan Area and is maintained by the Cochin Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships. In operation since 1902, the cylindrical lighthouse tower painted with white and red oblique bands has a height of 41 metres (135 ft), making it the second tallest lighthouse in Kerala coast. Tangasseri Lighthouse is one of the most visited lighthouses in Kerala.

The Portuguese Cemetery (after the invasion of Dutch, it became Dutch Cemetery) of Tangasseri in Kollam city, India, was constructed around 1519 as part of the Portuguese invasion of the city. Buckingham Canal, a small canal between Tangasseri Lighthouse and the cemetery, is situated very close to the Portuguese Cemetery. A group of pirates known as the Pirates of Tangasseri formerly lived at the Cemetery. The remnants of St. Thomas Fort and Portuguese Cemetery still exist at Tangasseri.

Our Lady of Purification Church also known as the Port Kollam Church is a historic Roman Catholic church near Kollam Port in Kollam district of Kerala. According to ecclesiastical tradition the church was established by Thomas the Apostle in 52 CE along with six other churches in Kerala and these churches together are called Ēḻarappaḷḷikaḷ. The church follows Latin Rite and is in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Quilon.

Thangassery Breakwater Tourism Park is a newly opened tourist destination in Kollam, Kerala. The park is located on a 2.5-acre plot of land at Thangassery, a coastal town in Kollam district. The park was inaugurated on April 27, 2023, and has been attracting a large number of visitors since then. The park is a beautiful waterfront location with stunning views of the Arabian Sea. It features a variety of amenities, including a children's playground, a boating lake, a food court, and a number of souvenir shops. There is also an open-air auditorium that can accommodate up to 400 people. Thangassery Breakwater Tourism Park project launched by the Department of Tourism for promoting coastal tourism.

Tangasseri Bus Terminal or Tangasseri Bus Bay is a bus station in the city of Kollam, India. The bus terminal is opened on 6 September 2014 by Prasanna Earnest, the then Mayor of Kollam city.

Kollam Rameswaram Mahadeva Temple is located in the city of Kollam City in Kollam district, in Kerala, India. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Rameswara facing west. It is believed that Kollam Rameswaram Mahadeva Temple is one of the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala and is installed by sage Parasurama dedicated to Shiva It is one of the two Rameswaram temples in 108 Shivalaya Sothram. The Amaravila Rameshwaram Sri Mahadeva Temple is the second Rameshwaram Temple. The temple is located in the village of Amaravila in Thiruvananthapuram District. There are two small towers in the west and north sides of the temple. There is a Copper flag mast in front of Balikkal pura at west. The main sanctum sanitorium is in rectangular shape and the shrine is decorated with beautiful stone and wood carvings. Valiyambalam and Balakalpura are common in Kerala-Dravidian style.

Ammachiveedu Muhurthi is a Hindu temple located in the Kollam district of the state of Kerala, India. It is estimated to be around 600 years old, and holds an annual 10-day celebration during the Dhanu festival.

Kollam Port is one of the oldest ports situated 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) away from Downtown Kollam (formerly Quilon) It is the second largest port in Kerala by volume of cargo handled and facilities and one of the four Kerala ports having immigration checkpoint (ICP) facility. Located on the south-west coast of India, it was an important port from the ninth to the seventeenth centuries. Kollam was one of the five Indian ports visited by Ibn Battuta.

Mulamkadakam or Mulangadakam/Mulamkadakom is a neighbourhood of Kollam (Quilon) city, India. It is situated at the northern region of the city. Mulamkadakam is the 7th ward of Kollam Municipal Corporation which is in Sakthikulangara zone of the city. Devi temple at Mulamkadakam is famous in the state. Kerala University's University Institute of Technology centre is situated at Mulamkadakam.

St Aloysius Higher Secondary School (formerly St Aloysius English School) is a Catholic high school located in the District of Kollam in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Quilon. It was founded by the Congregation of Christian Brothers in 1896, with the main building completed in 1900. In 1932 it had 23 lay teachers and 479 pupils. This school is located near to Vaddy beach, Kollam around the corner from Vaddy Church. Nearly 4000 students study in this institution, which was upgraded to senior secondary school. The main subjects in Higher secondary section are science, computer science and commerce. The High School is currently co-educational.
