Cathinog (also spelt Catheiniog, Cetheiniog) was a hundred, a geographic division, in the traditional county of Carmarthenshire, Wales. Its name derives from St. Cathen, a local saint to whom a church is dedicated in Llangathen.

The population taken at the 2011 census was 507.The parish church of St Cathen is a Grade II* listed building and houses the tomb of Anthony Rudd, an Elizabethan Bishop of St David's who owned Aberglasney House and developed its gardens in the late 16th century. The churchyard has some ancient yew trees. Within the parish is the country house and garden of Aberglasney, also a Grade II* listed building, which once belonged to the Dyer family. It lies at the foot of Grongar Hill, the celebrated subject of a poem by John Dyer published in 1726. The community is also home of Dryslwyn Castle. The community is bordered by the communities of: Manordeilo and Salem; Llandeilo; Llanfihangel Aberbythych; Llanarthney; Llanegwad; and Llanfynydd, all being in Carmarthenshire. Allt y wern, a broadleaf woodland and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) is to the south-west of the village.

Ffynnon-ddrain is a settlement in Carmarthenshire, Wales, one mile north-west of the town of Carmarthen, 24 miles north-west of the major city of Swansea, 56 miles north-west of Cardiff, and 182 miles west of London. Ffynnon-ddrain was historically in the county of Carmarthenshire. It is situated nearby to Cwmoernant and Quarry Cottage. The village is home to Elim Welsh Independent Chapel.

Allt y Gaer (Welsh for 'hill of the fort') is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in Llangathen community, Carmarthenshire, Wales. It is a 3.5ha conifer woodland on the northern slopes of the Tywi Valley, which has SSSI protected designation because it holds the largest heronry in West Wales.

Golden Grove (Welsh: Gelli Aur) is a mansion and estate in the Welsh county of Carmarthenshire, located 4 miles (6 km) southwest of Llandeilo.

Gelli Aur (meaning: Golden Grove) is a country park in Carmarthenshire, Wales, with 60 acres (240,000 m2) of wooded parkland surrounding Golden Grove mansion. It was once the home of the Vaughan and Cawdor families. The park featured a number of nature trails, a 20-acre (81,000 m2) deer park, a 10-acre (40,000 m2) Aboretum planted in the 1860s. The park was managed for many years by Carmarthenshire County Council. The park is registered (as Golden Grove) at Grade II* on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.The mansion features crow stepped gables, a battlemented portico and tall polygonal chimney stacks. The original Vaughan mansion, built between 1565 and 1570, no longer exists. In 1804 the last of the Vaughans died childless and the Gelli Aur estate passed to the Cawdor family. It was they who built the present mansion between 1827 and 1832. The building was designed by Jeffry Wyatville who had recently worked on the renovations at Windsor Castle. The mansion is now privately owned, and a long programme of restoration is underway.Since the middle of the 20th century, the house has had a checkered history. During World War Two, it housed American airmen. In more recent times, the big house was leased to Carmarthenshire County Council, and one of the five campuses of Carmarthenshire College (Coleg Sir Gâr) was located there. In 2015, as part of a ten-year plan to restore the estate, a grant of close to £1 million was arranged with the Welsh Government. The first stage including enabling public access to the parkland and gardens with tea-rooms, a play area, educational activities and trails. The match funding necessary for the third year phase of works did not materialise and therefore the majority of the grant could not be drawn down.

Dryslwyn Castle (Welsh: Castell y Drysllwyn) is a native Welsh castle, sited on a rocky hill roughly halfway between Llandeilo and Carmarthen in Wales. It stands on high ground overlooking the Tywi Valley with extensive views. It was built in about the 1220s by one of the princes of the kingdom of Deheubarth, and changed hands several times in the struggles between the Welsh and English over the ensuing centuries. It is considered one of the most important remaining structures built by a Welsh chieftain and is a Grade I listed building.
