St Wilfrid's Church is the parish church of Brayton, North Yorkshire, immediately south-west of Selby in England.

Brayton Academy, formerly Brayton High School (previously to that, Brayton College) is a medium-sized high school located in Brayton (near Selby) North Yorkshire, England. The school provides for approximately 590 pupils ages 11 to 16, while being able to accommodate up to 1,280.The school is located within the parish boundaries of Brayton, although its catchment area also covers other local villages and extends into parts of Selby. Brayton High School opened in 1979 and was awarded Technology College status in 2001. It was renamed Brayton College in line with the Technology specialism, but in 2009 reverted to its original name and a new uniform. The school was re-designated as a lead specialist technology school in the Selby area again in 2009.The school has reduced in size in recent years, once having had a student population of over 1000.The school joined the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust in 2016, being re-named as Brayton Academy after it was found to fail its students (based on exam results). In the school's first Ofsted Inspection since joining the Rodillian Multi Academy Trust it was graded as 'Outstanding' in all areas by Ofsted when inspected in June 2019.This was the first time the school sited here has ever been granted outstanding, reflecting the improvements that were significantly lacking since its first opening. One subject the school focuses on in KS3 is resilience, having 5 resilience lessons a week in y7 and 3 ‘applied resilience’ lessons, a chance to try something new, like animation,gardening, skiing or golf for example, in y8 and y9

Selby and Ainsty is a constituency in North Yorkshire. It has been represented by Keir Mather from the Labour Party since 21 July 2023. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat will be subject to boundary changes which will involve the loss of the Ainsty area. As a consequence, it will revert to the name of Selby, to be first contested at the next general election.

Selby was a rural district in the West Riding of Yorkshire from 1894 to 1974.It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 from that part of the Selby rural sanitary district which was in the West Riding (the East Riding parts going on to form the Riccal Rural District). It remained largely unchanged, although it lost the parishes of Biggin and Little Fenton to Tadcaster Rural District on 1 April 1937.It was abolished in 1974 under the Local Government Act 1972, going to form part of an enlarged district of Selby, in North Yorkshire.

Selby District was a local government district of North Yorkshire, England, from 1974 to 2023. Its council was based in the town of Selby. The district had a population of 83,449 at the 2011 Census. The southernmost district of North Yorkshire, it bordered the City of York unitary authority, the Borough of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, the City of Leeds and City of Wakefield districts in West Yorkshire, the City of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, and the ceremonial county of the East Riding of Yorkshire.

Selby was a parliamentary constituency in North Yorkshire, represented in the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election. The constituency existed from 1983 to 2010. Further to the completion of the 2023 Periodic Review of Westminster constituencies, the seat will be re-established for the next general election, straddling both North Yorkshire and West Yorkshire. It will be formed primarily from the (to be abolished) constituency of Selby and Ainsty in North Yorkshire - excluding the Ainsty area and the North Yorkshire Council wards of Appleton Roebuck & Church Fenton and Tadcaster, and with the addition of the City of Leeds ward of Kippax and Methley in West Yorkshire.

Selby (Brayton Gates) was the initial, temporary southern terminus of the short Cawood, Wistow and Selby Light Railway (CW&SLR) in North Yorkshire, England. The line was connected to the North Eastern Railway (NER) nearby. The station is sometimes referred to as "Brayton Gates" or plain "Selby", though it was around a mile from the much larger Selby station.

Selby High School is a co-educational secondary school in North Yorkshire, England. Its main catchment area is the town of Selby and villages from the Selby District, including Thorpe Willoughby, Hambleton, Monk Fryston, Cawood and Wistow.

Selby Town Football Club is an English football club based in Selby, North Yorkshire, founded in 1919. They play in the Northern Counties East League Division One. The club's traditional rivals are Goole (with whom they play an annual match, for the right to win the Eric Lawton Cup) and Tadcaster Albion.

Royal Air Force Burn or more simply RAF Burn is a former Royal Air Force satellite station located 5 miles (8 km) south of Selby and 0.5 miles (0.8 km) east of Burn in North Yorkshire, England which opened in 1942 before closing in 1946.

Selby Town Hall is a municipal building in York Street in Selby, North Yorkshire, England. The structure, which was built as a Methodist chapel, is now the home of Selby Town Council.

Burn is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Selby and 14 miles (22.5 km) south of York. The village is mainly situated around the main A19 road with the addition of a small housing estate built in the mid-1960s to the west of the main road. Burn was in the Selby District of North Yorkshire until 2023. The village was historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire until 1974.
