The mansion was constructed as the family home of Chester Adgate Congdon. The building was designed by Minnesota architect Clarence H. Johnston Sr., with interiors designed by William A. French Co. and the formal terraced garden and English style landscape designed by the Charles Wellford Leavitt firm out of New York. Construction began in 1905 and completed in 1908. The home cost a total of $854,000, equivalent to more than $22 million in 2017. The home is a crowning example of design and craftmanship of the Midwestern United States in the early 20th century.

Tischer Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It empties into Lake Superior in the city of Duluth on the grounds of the Glensheen Historic Estate. Its waters supply a 60,000 gallon reservoir and are used to maintain the grounds of the estate.Tischer Creek was named after Urs and Elizabeth Tischer, pioneers who settled the area in the 1850s.

East High School is a public secondary school in Duluth, Minnesota, United States. It educates students in grades nine through twelve. It first opened its doors in 1927 as a junior high school. In 1950, it became a senior high school to serve the growing student population.Duluth East High School employs a schedule that allows students to take six 50-minute classes a day.
