Niederrickenbach Station railway station is a Swiss railway station in the municipality of Wolfenschiessen in the canton of Nidwalden. It is on the Luzern–Stans–Engelberg line, owned by the Zentralbahn railway company. The station is adjacent to the lower station of the cable car, to the hamlet of Niederrickenbach and the convent of Maria-Rickenbach, from which it takes its name.Niederrickenbach station is 2.3 km (1.4 mi) horizontally and 650 m (2,130 ft) vertically from Niederrickenbach hamlet. Unusually, and perhaps for this reason, the German language railway timetable includes the word Station as part of the name of this railway station. Because of the distance the station was made a request stop.

Pilatus Aircraft Ltd. is an aerospace manufacturer located in Stans, Switzerland. In June 2016, the company employed 1,905 people.The company has mostly produced aircraft for niche markets, in particular short takeoff and landing (STOL) aircraft as well as military training aircraft. During the 1950s and 1960s, Pilatus developed a short takeoff and landing (STOL) light civil transport aircraft, the PC-6 Porter. In 1973, it was decided to restart work on a turbine version of the piston engine trainer P-3, which entered production as the PC-7 Turbo Trainer. In 1979, Pilatus acquired Britten-Norman, manufacturer of the Britten-Norman Islander and Britten-Norman Defender aircraft. During the 1980s, it developed the PC-9, an improved derivative of the PC-7. During the 1990s, Pilatus opened up a broader civilian market with the introduction of the PC-12, a single-engine turboprop aircraft and has delivered 1,800 as of April 2021. In the 2000s, it also introduced a new member family of its military training aircraft, the turboprop-powered PC-21. During the 2010s, the company developed the PC-24, a twin-engined STOL jet aircraft capable of operating from unpaved runways.

Stans (German pronunciation: [ʃtans]) is the capital of the canton of Nidwalden (Nidwald) in Switzerland. The official language of Stans is German (spoken there in the variety of Swiss Standard German), but the main language is the local variant of Alemannic Swiss German.

The Buochserhorn is a mountain of the Swiss Prealps, overlooking Lake Lucerne near Buochs in the canton of Nidwalden. It lies on the range west of the Schwalmis.

An international peace summit in relation to the Russo-Ukrainian War, formally called the Summit on Peace in Ukraine, was held in Bürgenstock Resort in Switzerland on 15–16 June 2024. The conference followed a series of four earlier international meetings, and was hosted by the Swiss president Viola Amherd. Representatives from 92 nations and 8 international organizations attended the summit, while Russia did not participate. The Joint Communiqué on a Peace Framework became the final statement of the summit and was supported by the majority of participants. In the Joint Communiqué, the signees declared that they agreed to take "concrete steps ... with further engagement of the representatives of all parties" on three themes: nuclear power and weapons, food security, and prisoners and deportees. The signees agreed that "Ukrainian nuclear power plants and installations, including Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, must operate safely and securely under full sovereign control of Ukraine and in line with IAEA principles and under its supervision" and that "Any threat or use of nuclear weapons in the context of the ongoing war against Ukraine is inadmissible." They declared that for the "supply of food products ... Attacks on merchant ships in ports and along the entire route, as well as against civilian ports and civilian port infrastructure, are unacceptable" and that "Ukrainian agricultural products should be securely and freely provided to interested third countries." They stated that "all prisoners of war must be released" and that all children and "other Ukrainian civilians who were unlawfully detained, must be returned to Ukraine". Some delegates did not endorse the Joint Communiqué; as of 26 September 2024, 89 states and six organisations had signed it.

The Bürgenstock Resort (also Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne) is a Swiss hotel and tourism complex situated above Lake Lucerne in Canton Nidwalden. The resort is located on the Bürgenberg and comprises a total of 30 buildings, including four hotels and a number of sports facilities. It is the largest integrated hotel resort in Switzerland. The complex is built above ridge offering north-facing views of the lake 450 metres below. Linking resort and lake is the Bürgenstock railway. Views to the south encompass mountains and scattered settlements on their flanks. The resort is of cultural and historical significance.
