Caluire-et-Cuire

The Passerelle de la Paix ("skyway of peace") is a pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Rhône river in Lyon, France. It connects the 6th arrondissement of Lyon and the commune of Caluire-et-Cuire.Grand Lyon commissioned the construction of a bridge between Cité Internationale and Place Basse Demonchy in Parc Saint-Clair in Caluire-et-Cuire. The project was first conceived in 1994, but construction was held up by a legal dispute over who would be the primary contractor. The project was revived in 2009 with Austrian architect Dietmar Feichtinger creating the design for the bridge. The construction of the bridge began in March 2012. The bridge was named "Passerelle de la Paix" on 22 October 2012 to represent intercultural harmony, because the neighbourhood of Saint-Clair has a large immigrant population. Construction concluded on 13 December 2013 and opened to the public on 17 March 2014. The bridge has two sections: a 217-metre (712-foot) long upper section for pedestrians and bicycles, and a 156-metre (512-foot) long lower section uniquely for pedestrians.

Parc Saint-Clair is a public greenspace in the quarter of Saint-Clair in the commune Caluire-et-Cuire near Lyon. The park has an area of 4 hectares (9.9 acres), is bordered by the Rhône to the south and the Boulevard périphérique de Lyon to the north and east.It was designed by landscape architect Alain Provost.

The 22nd G7 Summit was held in Lyon, France, on 27–29 June 1996. The venue for this summit meeting was the Museum of Contemporary Art, Lyon (Musée d'art Contemporain de Lyon). The locations of previous summits to have been hosted by France include: Rambouillet (1975), Versailles (1982), and Paris (1989). The Group of Seven (G7) was an unofficial forum which brought together the heads of the richest industrialized countries: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada (since 1976), and the President of the European Commission (starting officially in 1981). The summits were not meant to be linked formally with wider international institutions; and in fact, a mild rebellion against the stiff formality of other international meetings was a part of the genesis of cooperation between France's president Valéry Giscard d'Estaing and West Germany's chancellor Helmut Schmidt as they conceived the first Group of Six (G6) summit in 1975.A pre-summit was held in Moscow, Russia from 19 to 20 April to deal with nuclear security issues.

The Musée d'art contemporain de Lyon is a museum devoted to contemporary art, located in the 6th arrondissement of Lyon, in the Cité Internationale, next to the cinema, in front of the Parc de la Tête d'Or. It had over 42,000 visitors in 2007.

Cité Internationale (International City) is a quarter in the 6th arrondissement of Lyon, France. It is situated between the Rhône and Parc de la Tête d'Or and encompasses an area that had previously been the location of the Foire de Lyon. It is connected to the commune of Caluire-et-Cuire by the Passerelle de la Paix.

The International Criminal Police Organization, commonly known as Interpol (UK: INT-ər-pol, US: -⁠pohl), is an international organization that facilitates worldwide police cooperation and crime control. It is the world's largest international police organization. It is headquartered in Lyon, France, with seven regional bureaus worldwide, and a National Central Bureau in all 195 member states.Interpol was conceived during the first International Criminal Police Congress in 1914, which brought officials from 24 countries to discuss cooperation in law enforcement. It was founded on 7 September 1923 at the close of the five-day 1923 Congress session in Vienna as the International Criminal Police Commission (ICPC); it adopted many of its current duties throughout the 1930s. After coming under Nazi control in 1938, the agency had its headquarters in the same building as the Gestapo. It was effectively moribund until the end of World War II. In 1956, the ICPC adopted a new constitution and the name Interpol, derived from its telegraphic address used since 1946.Interpol provides investigative support, expertise and training to law enforcement worldwide, focusing on three major areas of transnational crime: terrorism, cybercrime and organized crime. Its broad mandate covers virtually every kind of crime, including crimes against humanity, child pornography, drug trafficking and production, political corruption, intellectual property infringement, as well as white-collar crime. The agency also facilitates cooperation among national law enforcement institutions through criminal databases and communications networks. Contrary to popular belief, Interpol is itself not a law enforcement agency. Interpol has an annual budget of €142 million, most of which comes from annual contributions by member police forces in 181 countries. It is governed by a General Assembly composed of all member countries, which elects the executive committee and the President (currently Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi of the United Arab Emirates) to supervise and implement Interpol's policies and administration. Day-to-day operations are carried out by the General Secretariat, comprising around 1,000 personnel from over 100 countries, including both police and civilians. The Secretariat is led by the Secretary-General, currently Jürgen Stock, the former deputy head of Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office. Pursuant to its charter, Interpol seeks to remain politically neutral in fulfilling its mandate, and is thus barred from interventions or activities that are political, military, religious, or racial in nature and from involving itself in disputes over such matters. The agency operates in four languages: Arabic, English, French and Spanish.

The Palais des Congrès de Lyon (or "Cité des Congrès de Lyon" or "Centre de Congrès de Lyon") is a convention hall which is part of the Cité Internationale, a newly built district of Lyon, France.

The Abbey of Île Barbe was an Abbey built very early in the Christian era, on Île Barbe, outside of Lyon, France.The abbey was founded on the island in the 5th century and was the first monastic establishment in the Lyon region and one of the oldest in Gaul. Charlemagne endowed it with a beautiful library.The monastery, was however looted several times (in 676, and in 725 by the Saracens and in 937 by Hongrois). The abbey adopted the Rule of St. Benedict in the 9th century and gradually gained some wealth. In 816, Louis the Pious granted the monastery the right at any time of three ships on the Saone, the Rhone and the Doubs péages free of taxes; a decree of immunity and protection to monastère which was confirmed by Charles the Bald in 614. In the early 16th century, the abbey came under the commendatory of the family of Albon. In 1549, pope Paul III it is secularized and the monks became canons (collegiate). In 1562, she was devastated and burned by the Protestant troops of Baron Adrets. The chapter of canons was finally removed in 1741, and installs a facility for elderly or infirm priests, which in turn is removed in 1783. During the Revolution, at which point everything was sold and dispersed.

The Île Barbe is an island situated in the middle of the Saône, in the 9th arrondissement de Lyon, the quartier Saint-Rambert-l'Île-Barbe (a former-commune annexed in 1963). Its name comes from the Latin insula barbara, "Barbarians' Island", suggesting that it was one of the last locales to be occupied (two centuries after the banks of the Saône at the foot of the hill of Fourvière).

The Parc de la Tête d'or (English: "Park of the Golden Head") is a large urban park in Lyon, France, with an area of approximately 117 hectares (290 acres). Located in the northern part of the 6th arrondissement, it features the Jardin botanique de Lyon, as well as a lake on which boating takes place during the summer months. Due to the relatively small number of other parks in Lyon, it receives a huge number of visitors over summer; it is a frequent destination for joggers and cyclists. In the park's central part, there is a small zoo without charge, which includes giraffes, deer, reptiles, primates, along with other animals. There are also sports equipments, such as a velodrome, boules court, mini-golf and equestrian facility, in addition to a mini-train.

Le Transbordeur is a 1,800-seat concert hall located in Villeurbanne, France. It was inaugurated in 1989.Notable past performers include Lorde, Tool, Blue Öyster Cult, Robert Plant, Megadeth, Motörhead, Porcupine Tree, Lenny Kravitz, Simple Minds (2010), Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds (2011), Boy George (2014) and Mogwai (2022).

Lyon Zoo (fr. Zoo de Lyon, also known as Jardin zoologique de Lyon, or Zoo du Parc de la Tête d'Or) is a zoo in France located in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes inside parc de la Tête d'Or in the town of Lyon. The zoo was founded 1858 by Claude-Marius Vaïsse (8 July 1799 – 8 August 1864), a French lawyer who joined the administration of the July Monarchy. The zoo presents 300 animals from 66 SpeciesLyon Zoo is member of EAZA.
