Schleissheim Palace

Oberschleißheim (German pronunciation: [oːbɐˈʃlaɪ̯sˌhaɪ̯m] (listen)) is a municipality in the district of Munich, in Bavaria, Germany. It is located 13 km north of Munich (centre). As of 2005 it had a population of 11,467. Oberschleißheim is best known for the Schleissheim Palace and the Flugwerft Schleissheim next to the airport housing the airplane department of the German Museum. The airfield is also home to one of the five German Federal Police helicopter squadrons. Established in 1912, the airfield was the first in Bavaria. During World War II, a subcamp of Dachau concentration camp was located here.In the early 20th century, Schleißheim was home to author Waldemar Bonsels, who was inspired to write his "Biene Maja" by a gnarly tree in the woods nearby.

Flugwerft Schleissheim is an aviation museum located in the German town of Oberschleißheim near Munich, it forms part of the Deutsches Museum collection and complements the aviation exhibits on display at the main site. The museum was opened on 18 September 1992. Many aerospace exhibits are on display including fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters and aircraft engines. The main display hangar is a restored glazed building, visitors are able to view exhibits undergoing restoration.

The Flugplatz Schleißheim (ICAO: EDNX) (the part of the site used today as an airfield is called Sonderlandeplatz Oberschleißheim) is an airfield in the Bavarian town of Oberschleißheim near Munich (about 13 km north of the city center), in the Jägerstraße 1. It is the oldest still operating airfield in Germany, which was planned as a military airfield.

Hartelholz is a 115-hectare (280-acre) forest in the north of Munich, Germany. It is located north of the Panzerwiese in the boroughs of Feldmoching-Hasenbergl and Milbertshofen-Am Hart. It is classified as a Naturschutzgebiet protected area.

The Goldschmiedplatz is a 2.31-hectare urban open space at the northern end of Schleißheimer Straße in Munich's Hasenbergl district. It was originally a combined bus and train stop and is now a meeting place for residents and activity area. The founding family Goldschmied from the 14th century gave the square its name.

The Panzerwiese is a 200 hectare heath area in Milbertshofen-Am Hart in the north of Munich, Germany. It bears its name due to its former military use as a training area for tanks (German: Panzer and meadow German: Wiese). The name "Nordhaide" is often used analogously to Panzerwiese due to the settlement of the same name. It is part of the "Naturschutzgebiet" (protected nature area) Panzerwiese und Hartelholz. It belongs to the Munich Green Belt. It has been registered with the EU as a Fauna-Flora-Habitat area (heathland and turf forests north of Munich).

The Munich Information Center for Protein Sequences (MIPS) was a research center hosted at the Institute for Bioinformatics (IBI) at Neuherberg, Germany with a focus on genome oriented bioinformatics, in particular on the systematic analysis of genome information including the development and application of bioinformatics methods in genome annotation, gene expression analysis and proteomics. MIPS supported and maintained a set of generic databases as well as the systematic comparative analysis of microbial, fungal, and plant genomes.As of September 2019, the institute was closed after 18 years of service, and several of its subdivisions were reorganized to resources, both internal and external.

Unterschleißheim (Central Bavarian: Untaschleißheim) is a town in Bavaria, Germany. It is located about 17 km north of Munich central, and has a resident population of 29,464 (December 31, 2021).

The Mira is a district and shopping center that opened in 2008 in the Munich district Nordhaide at Schleißheimer Straße which borders the municipalities of Milbertshofen-Am Hart and Feldmoching-Hasenbergl.

Helmholtz Zentrum München Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Gesundheit und Umwelt (GmbH), also known as Helmholtz Munich, is a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centres. It was founded in 1960 and is a joint venture by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and Bavarian State Ministry of Finance and Home.
