Barrio Logan, San Diego

Chicano Park is a 32,000 square meter (7.9 acre) park located beneath the San Diego-Coronado Bridge in Barrio Logan, a predominantly Chicano or Mexican American and Mexican-migrant community in central San Diego, California. The park is home to the country's largest collection of outdoor murals, as well as various sculptures, earthworks, and an architectural piece dedicated to the cultural heritage of the community. Because of the magnitude and historical significance of the murals, the park was designated an official historic site by the San Diego Historical Site Board in 1980, and its murals were officially recognized as public art by the San Diego Public Advisory Board in 1987. The park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013 owing to its association with the Chicano Movement, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 2016. Chicano Park, like Berkeley's People's Park, was the result of a militant (but nonviolent) people's land takeover. Every year on April 22 (or the nearest Saturday), the community celebrates the anniversary of the park's takeover with a celebration called Chicano Park Day.

Barrio Logan is a station on the Blue Line of the San Diego Trolley located in the Logan Heights neighborhood of San Diego. The station's name is the Spanish translation of "Logan neighborhood" and the station primarily serves the corresponding Hispanic neighborhood. The stop is located near Chicano Park, famous for its artwork and legacy of protests for minority rights.

San Diego Marine was a shipbuilding company in San Diego, California. To support the World War 2 demand for ships San Diego Marine built: minesweepers and sub chasers. San Diego Marine was opened in 1915 as San Diego Marine Construction shipyard Captain Oakley J. Hall. The company was sold to Campbell Industries in 1972. It was sold again in 1979 and renamed Southwest Marine. Boatbuilding ended in 1983. Southwest Marine was sold to U.S. Marine Repair in 2003. The named changed to BAE Systems Ship Repair in 2005. The shipyard is located at 2205 East Belt Street, San Diego.

The Voz Alta Project (originally named Voz Alta) is a multi-disciplinary art space in San Diego, California. It is located at 1754 National Avenue in the Barrio Logan neighborhood of San Diego Voz Alta was founded in 2002 by the Taco Shop Poets. The Taco Shop Poets aimed to create a venue that would help in cultivating the next wave of Latino, Mexican, Chicana/o and border region artists. The space has hosted such guest as Lila Down, Harry Gamboa, and Howard Zinn. The space is now a multicultural art space. It presents art shows and music events as well as other forms of visual and performing arts.

Lynch Shipbuilding was a wooden shipbuilding company in San Diego, California. To support the World War II demand for ships, Lynch Shipbuilding built US Navy rescue tugs and coastal cargo ships. Lynch Shipbuilding yard was started in the 1930s. Lynch was in the lumber business at the time also. In 1952 the yard was sold to Martinolich Shipbuilding Company, as Martinolich Shipbuilding San Diego. Martinolich's main shipyard was in Dockton, Washington. John A. Martinolich died in 1960. Martinolich's sons operated boatyards from 1940s to 1970 in Tacoma and San Diego also. Martinolich sold the San Diego shipyard in 1957 to National Steel and Shipbuilding Company which is at the current site, 1400 South 28th Street, San Diego.

National Steel and Shipbuilding Company, commonly referred to as NASSCO, is an American shipbuilding company with three shipyards located in San Diego, Norfolk and Mayport. It is a division of General Dynamics. The San Diego shipyard specializes in constructing commercial cargo ships and auxiliary vessels for the US Navy and Military Sealift Command; it is the only new-construction shipyard on the West Coast of the United States. The Virginia shipyard primarily performs ship repairs and conversions for the United States Navy.

Memorial is one of San Diego's oldest neighborhoods, with development beginning around 1850, although few structures from that time remain intact. The neighborhood holds a mix of residential, commercial, industrial, and recreational uses. Memorial Park is located within the boundaries of the neighborhood, which is known for a mural dedicated to peace, with the faces of Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, and Mahatma Gandhi.Memorial is located within San Diego Unified School District, and is home to Memorial Junior High School and Logan Elementary School.

12th & Imperial Transit Center is a San Diego Trolley station in Downtown San Diego, California. It is located in the East Village neighborhood of the city and serves the high-density residential developments that surround the stop. It is one of two stations from which Petco Park can be reached (the other being Gaslamp Quarter station). The station has historically been used as a major transfer point between the various Trolley lines and is the only station that is directly served by all four Trolley lines.
