Battle of Mouscron

Mouscron (French pronunciation: [mukʁɔ̃] ; Dutch and West Flemish: Moeskroen, Dutch pronunciation: [muˈskrun] ; Picard and Walloon: Moucron) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the Belgian province of Hainaut, along the border with the French city of Tourcoing, which is part of the Lille metropolitan area. The municipality consists of the following districts: Dottignies, Herseaux, Luingne, and Mouscron. In accordance with the national law, the municipality offers facilities for the Dutch speaking minority. Kortrijk, in Flanders, is located just to the north of Mouscron. The city substantially grew during the 19th and early 20th century with the development of the textile industry in the north of France. The symbol of the city is the Hurlu: a character representing Protestant activists, who plundered the countryside during the Wars of Religion (16th century).

Le Canonnier is a multi-use stadium in Mouscron, Belgium. It is currently used mostly for football matches and was the home ground of Royal Excel Mouscron until the club was folded in 2022. The stadium holds 10,800 people.

Luingne (pronounced /lwin/ or /lɥiɲ/; Dutch: Lowingen; Picard: Loinne) is a village of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Mouscron, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. It was a municipality in its own right before the 1977 fusion of municipalities. The inhabitants are called "Cleugnottes". The district is 554-acre large.

The Arrondissement of Mouscron (French: Arrondissement de Mouscron; Dutch: Arrondissement Moeskroen) is a former arrondissement in the Walloon province of Hainaut, Belgium. It is not a judicial arrondissement. Its municipalities are a part of the Judicial Arrondissement of Tournai. The arrondissement was created in 1963 after several municipalities were transferred from the Dutch-speaking province of West Flanders to French-speaking Hainaut following the language laws of 1962. In 2019 it was merged into the new Arrondissement of Tournai-Mouscron.

Aalbeke is a village in the Belgian province of West Flanders and since 1977 a part of Kortrijk. Aalbeke has 8511 as a postal code and covers an area of 717 ha. The district had 2,953 inhabitants on December 31, 2007. Aalbeke is located 6 km southwest of the central area of Kortrijk and is surrounded by Rollegem, Mouscron, Lauwe and Marke. Nearby Aalbeke, the interchange of the E17 and E403 is located.

Wattrelos (French pronunciation: ​[watʁəlo]; archaic Dutch: Waterlos) is a commune in the Nord department in the Nord-Pas de Calais region of northern France. It is located on the border with Belgium, northeast of the city of Lille. The fifth-largest component of the Métropole Européenne de Lille, Wattrelos borders the communes of Roubaix, Tourcoing and Leers in France and the communes of Mouscron and Estaimpuis in Belgium.

Eurometropolis Lille–Kortrijk–Tournai is a transborder agglomeration in Europe around the French city of Lille, and the Belgian cities Kortrijk and Tournai. It covers the local regions Lille Métropole, south-eastern West Flanders (4 districts) and Wallonie Picarde (3 districts), 147 municipalities in total. The 2008 population was 2,155,161.It is one of the EU-designated cross border regions under the auspices of European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation.

Rollegem is a submunicipality of the city of Kortrijk, Belgium. As of 2007 it had a population of 2,720.

Roubaix (French: [ʁubɛ] or [ʁube]; Dutch: Robaais; West Flemish: Roboais) is a city in northern France, located in the Lille metropolitan area on the Belgian border. It is a historically mono-industrial commune in the Nord department, which grew rapidly in the 19th century from its textile industries, with most of the same characteristic features as those of English and American boom towns. This former new town has faced many challenges linked to deindustrialisation such as urban decay, with their related economic and social implications, since its major industries fell into decline by the middle of the 1970s. Located to the northeast of Lille, adjacent to Tourcoing, Roubaix is the chef-lieu of two cantons and the third largest city in the French region of Hauts-de-France ranked by population with nearly 99,000 inhabitants.Together with the nearby cities of Lille, Tourcoing, Villeneuve-d'Ascq and eighty-six other communes, Roubaix gives structure to a four-centred metropolitan area inhabited by more than 1.1 million people: the European Metropolis of Lille. To a greater extent, Roubaix is in the center of a vast conurbation formed with the Belgian cities of Mouscron, Kortrijk and Tournai, which gave birth to the first European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation in January 2008, Lille–Kortrijk–Tournai with an aggregate population of over 2 million inhabitants.
