Great Barford is a village and civil parish in the Borough of Bedford, Bedfordshire, England, around 5 miles (8.0 km) north-east of Bedford town centre. It lies on the River Great Ouse at grid reference TL129523. It is twinned with Wöllstein, Germany. The village is bypassed by the busy A421 road on the way between the M1 near Milton Keynes and the A1 near St Neots. The village is known for its All Saints Church, with a 15th-century tower, and its similarly ancient bridge. The surroundings and historic buildings make it a favoured destination for canoeing, angling and picnics. Nearby places include Renhold and Blunham.

The early fifteenth century Great Barford Bridge, sometimes called simply Barford Bridge, spans the River Great Ouse at Great Barford, Bedfordshire. It is an arch bridge with seventeen arches, originally built from limestone and sandstone. The bridge underwent significant changes in the 19th century, with a widening project in 1818 that used wood being superseded in 1874 with the use of brick. It is Grade I listed and a Scheduled Ancient Monument. There is also a Barford Bridge which carries the River Ise over the A43 road between Rushton and Geddington in Northamptonshire.

Willington was a railway station on the Varsity Line which served the small village of the same name in Bedfordshire. Opened in 1903, the station was located in a rural area and saw little passenger traffic; it closed together with the line in 1968.

Blunham is a village and civil parish in the Central Bedfordshire district of Bedfordshire, England, about 6 miles (10 km) east of Bedford town centre. At the 2011 census date its population was 946. The River Ivel forms the parish's eastern boundary in places and the River Great Ouse its western and northern boundaries. The village is just over 0.6 miles (1 km) to the west of the A1 road, and Route 51 of the National Cycle Network passes to the south. At the north of village is an unusual double humpback bridge across the River Ivel and the Mill Stream which must be crossed to enter the village from the A1 road or Tempsford. The village school is notable for its thatched roof.

Moggerhanger is a village in the English county of Bedfordshire. It is west of Sandy on the road to Bedford. Its population in 2001 was 636, but had reduced to 620 at the 2011 Census. In the twentieth century the village name was spelled variously as: Moggerhanger, Mogerhanger, Muggerhanger and Morehanger. Local pronunciation of the name is as Morhanger.

Willington is a village and civil parish located in the English county of Bedfordshire. It is west of Moggerhanger on the road from Sandy to Bedford. The village is recorded in the Domesday Book as Welitone and as Wilitona in c. 1150, from Old English tun (homestead) among the willows, and is part of the ancient hundred of Wixamtree. In the parish church of St Lawrence there is a grand 16th-century chapel.Willington is home to 16th century Willington Dovecote & Stables, both now owned by the National Trust. In addition, it is home to The Danish Camp, a cafe set along the cycle route which holds an annual fireworks display on bonfire night (5 November). This is also the location of an ancient moated site. Willington used to have a railway station on the Sandy to Bedford railway line, now part of the NCR 51 national cycle route. The village's only pub - The Crown - was built in 1904 by Newland and Nash, a Bedford Brewer, as The Crown Inn, as a direct response to a railway station finally being provided in 1903.

Renhold Castle also known as Howbury, earthwork at Water End Farm, was a medieval castle located in the village of Renhold, in the hundred of Barford, in the county of Bedfordshire, England. Renhold Castle was a timber motte-and-bailey castle, encased by a moat. It was located 4 miles east of Bedford Castle and a mile south of Great Barford Castle. Only earthworks remain at the site, which is a Scheduled Monument protected by law.

Great Barford Castle, later known as "Creakers Manor", was a Norman castle located in the village of Great Barford, in the county of Bedfordshire, England (grid reference TL10555305). Great Barford Castle was a Motte and bailey castle, made of timber, and surrounded by a moat. It was so named due to its location, just north of the parish of Great Barford. It is located 1 mile south of Renhold Castle, leading to it sometimes being referred to as the "Second Renhold". The castle is also located near two other castles; Bedford Castle, which is 5 miles away, and Gannock Castle, which is 6 miles east of it.

Colesden is a small hamlet located in the English county of Bedfordshire. At the 2011 Census, the population of the hamlet was included in the civil parish of Wyboston, Chawston and Colesden.

Willington Dovecote & Stables is a National Trust property located in Willington, near Bedford, Bedfordshire, England. Both buildings are Grade I listed.The property is a 16th-century stable and stone dovecote, which contains nesting boxes for over 1500 pigeons. The dovecote and stables themselves were commissioned by Sir John Gostwick. Completed in around 1541, they were made from the remains of a manorial complex, and include stones most likely taken from local priories, in particular Newnham Priory, after the dissolution of the monasteries. A signature on the stone above the fireplace in the stables reads "John Bunyan 1650" but Historic England doubts its authenticity.
