Sumner Library is a neighborhood library located in the Near-north neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. Originally part of the Minneapolis Public Library, it became part of the merged Hennepin County Library in 2008. The Carnegie Library was a haven for Jewish immigrants to the city in the early 20th century. The Minneapolis Public Library moved its entire collection of Yiddish and Hebrew works to the branch library in response to a survey showing that 95% of the patrons were Jewish immigrants, some of whom learned English there and participated in social clubs in the building. The Tudor Revival building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.Sumner and the 14 other libraries of Minneapolis Public Library were merged into the combined urban/suburban Hennepin County Library in 2008. The library celebrated its 100th anniversary on Oct. 10, 2015.

Sumner-Glenwood is a neighborhood in U.S. city of Minneapolis. It is located in the broader Near North community and the area is referred to as Heritage Park by the neighborhood association. Summer-Glenwood is roughly contained by 15 city blocks bordered to the north by 11th Avenue North, to the south by Glenwood Avenue, to the east by Interstate 94, and to the west by both Girard Terrace and Emerson Avenue North. The Northwestern Knitting Company Factory, also known as Munsingwear Corporation and later as International Market Square, is a former factory building in the Sumner-Glenwood neighborhood of Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. The company was founded in 1888 by George D. Munsing, who invented a method of plating wool fibers with silk and cotton to make the union suit more comfortable. The company received financial backing from Clinton Morrison and Charles Alfred Pillsbury, who were prominent businessmen in the Minneapolis flour milling industry. This style of underwear, patented in 1891, proved to be very popular, and the company eventually became the world's largest manufacturer of underwear. The company changed its name in 1919 to Munsingwear.The company built five brick and concrete buildings between 1904 and 1915, eventually creating a complex covering 650,000 square feet (60,000 m2) and employing up to 2000 workers. The five- to eight-story buildings had long rows of windows, and although the buildings mostly had a plain appearance, the architects added some details such as slightly projecting cornices, fretwork friezes, and fluted Doric columns. The oldest of the buildings, along Glenwood Avenue, is notable for being the city's first entirely reinforced concrete building. Engineer C.A.P. Turner used concrete columns shaped like a mushroom on top, and he eventually patented this process, which was widely used.The factory eventually closed in 1981 when the economy reduced demand for Munsingwear's products. In 1985, the buildings were renovated and the complex was renamed International Market Square, which housed offices, shops, and over 100 showrooms for home and office products. The renovation included a five-story atrium created by roofing over an old courtyard where rail tracks once served the complex. In 2005, some portions of the building were renovated into 96 loft apartments. This was a leading example of adaptive reuse in Minneapolis. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Harrison is a neighborhood in the Near North community in the U.S. city of Minneapolis, located to the west of downtown. Its boundaries are roughly, Olson Memorial Highway to the north, Lyndale Avenue to the east, Bassett Creek to the south, and Theodore Wirth Park to the west.

The Killing of Ricky Cobb II occurred on July 31, 2023 after he was pulled over on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, a trooper found that Cobb was wanted in Ramsey County for violating a protection order. Ramsey County officials requested the troopers arrest Cobb. Two troopers approached the doors of Cobb's vehicle. While the trooper on the driver's side informed Cobb he was being arrested, the other trooper unlocked and opened the passenger side door. Cobb put the car into drive and released the brake and the car moved forward. The passenger-side trooper reached for his gun and Cobb stopped the car. While ordering Cobb to get out of the car, the officer on the passenger side shot twice, killing Cobb. The car kept moving and traveled a short distance before crashing into a median barrier. Cobb was later pronounced dead at the scene. A trooper was later charged in February 2024 with unintentional murder as well as manslaughter as a result of the shooting. The case was later dropped by Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty in June 2024 after a review of evidence.

Dunwoody College of Technology is a private technology school in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It offers Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees.

Parade Stadium is a former football stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was Minneapolis's first public football stadium. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board built the 16,560-seat stadium at The Parade, a park just west of downtown, in 1951. It was meant for high school, amateur, and small-college games. The stadium was also used for summertime Minneapolis Aquatennial festivities for over forty years.

Royalston Avenue/Farmers Market Station is one of five light rail stations planned in Minneapolis on the Southwest LRT extension of the Green Line. The Royalston Avenue/Farmers Market Station will be near the Minneapolis Farmers Market, the Hennepin Theater District, Minneapolis Community and Technical College, the Minneapolis campus for University of St. Thomas which includes the University of St. Thomas School of Law. The station is positioned east of I-94 and north of I-394.

The Basilica of Saint Mary is a Roman Catholic minor basilica located on its own city block along Hennepin Avenue between 16th & 17th Streets in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was the first basilica established in the United States. The Basilica of Saint Mary is the co-cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.

The Blake School is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian PK–12 college preparatory day school, established in 1900. Blake is located on three campuses around the Twin Cities area of Minnesota: the upper school (9–12) is in Minneapolis; administration offices, middle school (6–8) is in Hopkins, Minnesota, and half of the lower school is also in Hopkins, Minnesota connected to the middle school; and the other half of the lower school is in Wayzata, Minnesota.

Sharing and Caring Hands is a Minneapolis non-profit drop-in center dedicated to providing food, shelter, and clothing to the unhoused population of the Twin Cities in Minnesota, United States. As of 2020, Sharing and Caring Hands was feeding about 700 to 800 persons daily. Mary's Place, a transitional housing complex, was opened in 1995.

Spoonbridge and Cherry is a sculptural fountain designed by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen. It was funded by a $500,000 donation from art collector Frederick R. Weisman and is permanently located in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. The piece was completed and installed in 1988 for the Sculpture Garden's opening and consists of a large cherry resting atop a large spoon partially straddling a small pond.
