The Immaculate Conception Church (Estonian: Pühima Neitsi Maarja Pärispatuta Saamise kirik) also known as the Catholic church in Tartu and more formally "Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary" is the name given to a religious building belonging to the Catholic Church, located in the city of Tartu, the second largest in Estonia.

The Bishopric of Dorpat was a medieval prince-bishopric, i.e. both a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church and a temporal principality ruled by the bishop of the diocese. It existed from 1224 to 1558, generally encompassing the area that now comprises Tartu County, Põlva County, Võru County, and Jõgeva County in Estonia. The prince-bishopric was a sovereign member of the Holy Roman Empire (formally from 6 Nov 1225) and part of the Livonian Confederation until its dissolution in 1561.

Tartu is the second largest city in Estonia after Tallinn. Tartu has a population of 97,435 (as of 2023). It is 186 kilometres (116 miles) southeast of Tallinn and 245 kilometres (152 miles) northeast of Riga, Latvia. Tartu lies on the Emajõgi river, which connects the two largest lakes in Estonia, Lake Võrtsjärv and Lake Peipus. From the 13th century until the end of the 19th century, Tartu was known in most of the world by variants of its historical name Dorpat. Tartu, the largest urban centre of southern Estonia, is often considered the "intellectual capital city" of the country, especially as it is home to the nation's oldest and most renowned university, the University of Tartu (founded in 1632). Tartu also houses the Supreme Court of Estonia, the Ministry of Education and Research, the Estonian National Museum, and the oldest Estonian-language theatre, Vanemuine. It is also the birthplace of the Estonian Song Festivals. Tartu is the European Capital of Culture in 2024.

Uppsala House (Estonian: Uppsala maja) is one of the oldest wooden buildings in Tartu, Estonia. It is close to St John's Church in the northern part of the Old Town. The house was renovated in cooperation with Tartu's sister city of Uppsala in Sweden, and was operated as a five-bedroom guest house until 2010. Since then, it has served as the office of the Department of Public Relations of Tartu City Government.

Tartu Cathedral (Estonian: Tartu toomkirik), earlier also known as Dorpat Cathedral (German: Dorpater Domkirche), is a former Catholic church in Tartu (Dorpat), Estonia. The building is now an imposing ruin overlooking the lower town. In the small part of it that has been renovated is now located the museum of the University of Tartu, which the university also uses for major receptions.

Tartu Toy Museum (Tartu Mänguasjamuuseum) is the biggest toy museum in the Baltic States, located in Tartu, Estonia. It displays over 5000 toys from its vast collection and has several interactive toys for the visitors to try out, as well as a playroom for children. In 2005 the film puppets exhibition was opened in the courtyard house, exhibiting film puppets made in Estonia over the last 50 years, props and sketches of animated movies. Tartu Toy Museum was founded in 1994 and since 2004 is located in one of the oldest wooden buildings (dating from the 1770s) in Tartu, on Lutsu Street. In 2010 the Toy Museum opened its Theatre House, which is a unique children's theatre inspired by a museum. In addition to a theatre hall there is also a theatre puppet museum, a room from a medieval house that was uncovered during the archaeological excavations, a children's studio for theatre-themed programs, opportunities to do handicraft, play and discover the world of theatre.

University of Tartu Museum is the museum for the University of Tartu. Its entities include the University of Tartu Museum in the historic Tartu Cathedral, the University of Tartu Old Observatory, the University of Tartu Natural History Museum, the University of Tartu Botanical Gardens, and the University of Tartu Art Museum.

The Supreme Court of Estonia (Estonian: Riigikohus) is the court of last resort in Estonia. It is both a court of cassation and a constitutional court. The courthouse is in Tartu.

Korporatsioon Vironia (abbreviated korp! Vironia or C!V!) is an Estonian fraternal student society and the oldest student corps in Estonia. The organization is named after the Latin name for the ancient Estonian county of Virumaa. A full member of the organization is called a "vironus" (abbr. "vir!"), while every member can also be called a "Vironian" (viroonlane).

New St. John's Cemetery (Estonian: Uus-Jaani kalmistu) is a cemetery in Tartu, Estonia. Next to this cemetery is located Old St. John's Cemetery.The cemetery was opened in April 1890.

Toomemägi (or Toome Hill; Estonian: Toomemägi or Estonian: Toome) is a hill in Tartu, Estonia. Geologically, Toomemägi is part of the Emajõgi's ancient valley. Toomemägi is site of Tartu's beginnings. By the 7th century CE, local inhabitants had built wooden fortifications on the east side of Toomemägi. In medieval times, there was also a bishop's castle. University of Tartu Botanical Garden (Estonian: Tartu Ülikooli Botaanikaaed), is a botanical garden in Tartu, Estonia. It belongs to the University of Tartu. The Garden was established in 1803. Originally, it was located at Vanemuise street near what is now the Vanemuine Small Theatre House. In 1806, the garden was relocated to a more suitable site, on a former bastion at Lai street on the northern side of the old town.
