Toomemägi

Kuradisild (Devil's Bridge; originally Aleksandri sild, German: Alexander Brücke, Alexander's Bridge) is a dark concrete bridge located on Toomemägi in Tartu, Estonia, built to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty in 1913. Kuradisild is one of the few remaining concrete bridges built in early 20th century. It is one of the symbols and landmarks of Tartu alongside Inglisild (Angel's Bridge) located on the other side of Toome Hill. The elegant bridge is supported by two arches. The massive parapet is decorated with ornamental panels and seating recesses. The first bridge located in the place now occupied by Kuradisild was built in 1809. The Neogothic wooden bridge was based on designs by the University of Tartu architect Johann Wilhelm Krause. This bridge was later replaced by a single span wooden bridge designed by J. G. Köningsmann and built in 1842–1844. The current single span concrete bridge was built to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty after designs made by Tartu city architect Arved Eichhorn. The Toome Hill side of the bridge is decorated with the numbers 1613 and 1913, commemorating the jubilee; the Toome Valley side of the bridge bears a bronze relief of Alexander I of Russia (made by Constanze von Wetter-Rosenthal) and the words "Alexandro Primo".The bridge is a protected heritage site.

Inglisild ('Angel's Bridge') is a bridge in Toomemägi, Tartu, Estonia. The bridge was built between 1814 and 1816 and was designed by Johann Wilhelm Krause. Later, the bridge was somewhat re-built and in 1836 construction works ended. The rebuilt structure was designed by Moritz Hermann von Jacobi.It is supposed that the name of bridge is very likely a corruption of the original "Englische Brücke" or "English bridge".The portrait relief in the middle of the bridge commemorates the first rector of the re-founded University of Tartu in 1802, Georg Friedrich Parrot (1767–1852), and bears the inscription Otium reficit vires ('Leisure Renews the Powers'). On 21 April 2012 the bridge was damaged by fire.

University of Tartu Museum is the museum for the University of Tartu. Its entities include the University of Tartu Museum in the historic Tartu Cathedral, the University of Tartu Old Observatory, the University of Tartu Natural History Museum, the University of Tartu Botanical Gardens, and the University of Tartu Art Museum.

Tartu Cathedral (Estonian: Tartu toomkirik), earlier also known as Dorpat Cathedral (German: Dorpater Domkirche), is a former Catholic church in Tartu (Dorpat), Estonia. The building is now an imposing ruin overlooking the lower town. In the small part of it that has been renovated is now located the museum of the University of Tartu, which the university also uses for major receptions.

The Heino Eller Tartu Music College is a music school in Tartu, Estonia, founded in 1919. It got its current name in 1971, after the Estonian composer and music teacher Heino Eller, who taught at the school from 1920 until 1940.

The Gunpowder Cellar (Estonian: Püssirohukelder) is a historic building in Tartu, Estonia which now functions as a beer restaurant. The name is derived from the restaurant's location: it is situated in an 18th-century gunpowder cellar constructed in 1768–1778 by order of Catherine II of Russia on the site of an earlier fort, making use of the natural valley and pre-existing very thick brick walls for added safety. The building served as a gunpowder cellar until 1809 when it was converted to a beer storage room. At the end of the 19th century the building began to be used by the University of Tartu which meant that lectures and scientific work were often conducted on top of gunpowder barrels. In the 1990s it functioned as a large medieval restaurant before reopening in 2001 as a pub and disco though retaining a wine cellar.Its unique structure also lends it a unique distinction: it is in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the highest pub ceiling in the world, at 11 metres (36 ft).The restaurant is a popular meeting place among Tartu's student population. It boasts a regular cultural programme, including a number of plays by the Vanemuine theatre. This programme includes regular live music events.

The National Archives of Estonia (NAE, Estonian: Rahvusarhiiv) has been the centre of archival administration in Estonia since 1999.

Tartu Toy Museum (Tartu Mänguasjamuuseum) is the biggest toy museum in the Baltic States, located in Tartu, Estonia. It displays over 5000 toys from its vast collection and has several interactive toys for the visitors to try out, as well as a playroom for children. In 2005 the film puppets exhibition was opened in the courtyard house, exhibiting film puppets made in Estonia over the last 50 years, props and sketches of animated movies. Tartu Toy Museum was founded in 1994 and since 2004 is located in one of the oldest wooden buildings (dating from the 1770s) in Tartu, on Lutsu Street. In 2010 the Toy Museum opened its Theatre House, which is a unique children's theatre inspired by a museum. In addition to a theatre hall there is also a theatre puppet museum, a room from a medieval house that was uncovered during the archaeological excavations, a children's studio for theatre-themed programs, opportunities to do handicraft, play and discover the world of theatre.

University of Tartu Old Observatory or Tartu Old Observatory (Estonian: Tartu Tähetorn) is an observatory in Tartu, Estonia. Tartu Observatory was an active observatory from 1810 to 1964. The building now serves as a museum and belongs to the University of Tartu Museum.

University of Tartu Art Museum (Estonian: Tartu Ülikooli kunstimuuseum) is an art museum in Tartu, Estonia. It is founded in 1803 and considered to be the oldest art museum in Estonia. The museum is located in Main building of Tartu University. The museum is a branch of University of Tartu Museum. The chief of the museum is Mariann Raisma.The museum has a permanent exhibition which consists of, amongst other objects, original size plaster cast copies of Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic Greece.Since 1980 the museum has been home to the mummies of two Egyptian boys. They have been carbon dated as living between 410 and 50BC. They were donated to the university in 1819 on the death of their collector Otto von Richter.
