Llangynwyd Lower is a community in Bridgend County Borough, south Wales. It is located to the north west of Bridgend and contains the village of Coytrahen. At the 2001 census, the population of the community was 467, reducing to 440 at the 2011 Census. The community is the southern part of the old parish of Llangynwyd, and was created by government reorganization in 1974. The majority of Llangynwyd Lower is made up of hilly farmland and is sparsely populated. The western border of the community is a woodland valley, while the eastern border roughly follows the River Llynfi and the A4063 road.

Cefn Cribwr Football Club (Welsh: Clwb Pêl-droed Cefn Cribwr) is a Welsh football team based in Cefn Cribwr, Bridgend County Borough, Wales. They play in the Ardal South West, which is in the third tier of the Welsh football league system.

Caeau Cefn Cribwr is a Site of Special Scientific Interest near Cefn Cribwr in Bridgend, south Wales. The Countryside Council for Wales states that the site has been categorised as a Site of Special Interest for "...its marshy grassland and species-rich neutral grassland. Smaller areas of wet heath, woodland and scrub add to the interest. It is also of special interest for populations of three rare plants: marsh fern, soft-leaved sedge and viper's grass. Marsh Fritillary butterfly can be found here."

Llynfi power station supplied electricity to the Bridgend area of Glamorgan South Wales from 1943 to 1977. The coal-fired station was originally built and operated by the South Wales Power Company Limited to supply electricity to munitions factories during the Second World War. It was completed by the post-nationalisation British Electricity Authority in 1951, and was later operated by the Central Electricity Generating Board. The power station was closed in 1977 and was subsequently demolished. There have been several proposals to redevelop the site.

Court Colman Manor is a historic Tudor mansion (now a hotel) in Pen-y-fai, Bridgend, South Wales. The property belonged to Margam Abbey until the Dissolution, after which it passed through several hands. It was built in 1766 by Hopkin Rees (1729–1780) and enlarged and modified in 1907 by Robert William Llewellyn (1848–1910).

Tondu (English: Black Meadow) is a village in Bridgend County Borough, Wales, located about 3 miles (4.8 km) north of the town of Bridgend, in the community of Ynysawdre. Tondu lies on the A4063 from Bridgend to Maesteg, and was established in the late 18th century as a coal mining village servicing the Parc Slip Colliery. In later years, an iron works was also established, and in the 19th century, a brick works was constructed using the clay from the carboniferous coal measures to make a variety of bricks, mostly for engineering. The brick works was demolished in 1977. The association with the coal industry was also reflected in the large area office of the National Coal Board in the village and a centre for the Mines Rescue Service.

The Garw Valley Railway is the trading name of the Bridgend Valleys Railway Company Limited. It operates a short section of 4 ft 8+1⁄2 in (1,435 mm) standard gauge railway located in South Wales, which is being recreated as a heritage railway. Formerly part of the Llynvi and Ogmore Railway (L&OR) and built by the Great Western Railway (GWR), the line was used for freight and passenger services, with most of the track still in place between Brynmenyn and Pontycymer. The project currently has a train shed at Pontycymer, and hopes to initially offer brake van rides between Pontycymer and Pant-y-Gog, a distance of 0.5 miles (0.8 km).

Tondu railway station is a railway station serving the village of Tondu, Bridgend county borough, South Wales. It is located on the Maesteg Line from Cardiff via Bridgend. Passenger services are operated by Transport for Wales Rail as part of the Valley Lines network for local services.

Newcastle Higher is a community in Bridgend County Borough, south Wales. Located north west of Bridgend town centre it is made up of the townships of Pen-y-fai and Aberkenfig and straddles the M4 motorway. The community is home to several notable buildings, including the Pen-y-fai Hospital (the former Glamorganshire Lunatic Asylum), Court Coleman and All Saints Church. At the 2001 census, the community's population was 3,695, increasing to 4,046 at the 2011 Census.

Aberkenfig (Welsh: Abercynffig, meaning "mouth of the Kenfig" (stream)) is a village located in the County Borough of Bridgend, Wales to the north of Bridgend town. It is in the community of Newcastle Higher.
