Sun Lakes is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Maricopa County, Arizona, United States. The population was 14,868 at the 2020 census. Sun Lakes is an active adult community comprising five country club communities in three homeowner associations. These include the gated communities of Oakwood and IronWood (IronOaks), the gated and non-gated communities of Palo Verde and Cottonwood (Cottonwood Palo Verde), and the non-gated community of Sun Lakes 1. Sun Lakes is a master-planned community developed by Robson Communities.

Snaketown is a populated place situated in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. An Indian village, it is located on the Gila River Indian Community. In the O'odham language, ska-kaik means "many rattlesnakes", and it is from this term that the village derives its name. Snaketown is the location of the archeological site of the same name. It has an estimated elevation of 1,175 feet (358 m) above sea level.

The Hohokam Pima National Monument is an ancient Hohokam village within the Gila River Indian Community, near present-day Sacaton, Arizona. The monument features the archaeological site Snaketown 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Phoenix, Arizona, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964. The area was further protected by declaring it a national monument in 1972, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The site is owned by the Gila River Indian Community, which has decided not to open the area to the public. There is no public access to the Hohokam Pima National Monument. The museum at the nearby Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, in Coolidge, Arizona, contains artifacts from Snaketown. The Huhugam Heritage Center also has exhibits on tribal history and archaeology.Definitive dates are not clear, but the site was generally thought to be inhabited between 300 BCE and 1200 CE. Hohokam is an O’odham word meaning “those who have gone.” Specifically who the Hohokam people were and when the site was inhabited is subject to debate.

Bapchule (O'odham language: Pi:pchul) is an unincorporated community in Pinal and Maricopa counties, Arizona, United States. Although Bapchule is unincorporated, it has a post office (P.O. Boxes only) with the ZIP code of 85121.It lies in the Gila River Indian Community, south of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area. Most of Bapchule is located in Pinal County, while a portion of it in the north is in Maricopa County. The Bapchule locality is geographically situated at a southern coordinate to the Gila River Valley.

The Gila River Indian Community (GRIC) (O'odham language: Keli Akimel Oʼotham, meaning "Gila River People", Maricopa language: Pee-Posh) is an Indian reservation in the U.S. state of Arizona, lying adjacent to the south side of the cities of Chandler and Phoenix, within the Phoenix Metropolitan Area in Pinal and Maricopa counties. The Gila River Indian Community was established in 1859, and the Gila River Indian Community was formally established by Congress in 1939. The community is home for members of both the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and the Pee-Posh (Maricopa) tribes. The reservation has a land area of 583.749 square miles (1,511.90 km2) and a 2020 Census population of 14,260. It is made up of seven districts along the Gila River and its largest communities are Sacaton, Komatke, Santan, and Blackwater. Tribal administrative offices and departments are located in Sacaton. The Community operates its own telecom company, electric utility, industrial park and healthcare clinic, and publishes a monthly newspaper. It has one of the highest rates of Type 2 diabetes in the world, around 50% of the population. The community has voluntarily contributed to Type 2 diabetes research, by participating in many studies of the disease.

Gila River Indian Reservation was a reservation established in 1859 by the United States government in New Mexico Territory, to set aside the lands of the Akimel O’odham (Pima) and the Piipaash (Maricopa) people along the Gila River, in what is now Pinal County, Arizona. The self-government of the reservation as the Gila River Indian Community was established by Congress in 1939.

Stotonic (O'odham: S-totoñigk) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pinal County, Arizona, United States, located in the Gila River Indian Community. The population was 659 at the 2010 census. Stotonic Village has a median household income of $2,499 – the lowest of any CDP in Arizona [1]

Santan is an unincorporated community, and former census-designated place (CDP), in Pinal County, Arizona, United States. The settlement was named "Santa Ana" by its Akimel O'odham inhabitants in 1857, and pronounced "Santana".

The Arizona Railway Museum (reporting mark AZMX) is a railroad museum located in Chandler, Arizona. It was founded and incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1983. It is dedicated to the railroads of Arizona and the Southwestern United States. It has an extensive collection railroad rolling stock and artifacts. Two of items on display are listed in the National Register of Historic Places, they are the "Southern Pacific Railroad Locomotive No. SP 2562" and "Tender No. 8365" and the "Railroad Steam Wrecking Crane and Tool Car".

Stotonic is a village on the Gila River Indian Community in Pinal County, Arizona. Historically, it has also been known as Statonic, Stetonic, Stontonyak, Stotonik, and Stotonyak. The location's name was officially designated as Stotonic by a decision of the Board on Geographic Names in 1941. It has an estimated elevation of 1,230 feet (370 m) above sea level. To differentiate from the village of a similar name on the San Xavier Indian Reservation, the Office of Indian Affairs recommended that this village use the Papago, or Tohono O'odham spelling, while the San Xavier reservation village use the Pima, or Akimel O'otham spelling, Stotonic. The recommendation was followed by the Board on Geographic Names in their 1941 decision.
