The Old National Library Building was a demolished historical library building at Stamford Road in the Museum Planning Area of Singapore. Originally completed in 1960, the library building was a national icon for many Singaporeans. Despite a huge groundswell of public dissent, the library was closed on 31 March 2004, and was demolished in July that year to make way for the construction of the Fort Canning Tunnel to ease road traffic to the city. The controversy surrounding the building's demise has been credited for sparking greater awareness of local cultural roots and an unprecedented wave in favour of heritage conservation among Singaporeans.

The Singapore Short Film Awards (abbreviation: SSFA) is an annual event which promotes and recognises excellence in short films in Singapore. It began in 2010 and was jointly organised by The Substation and Objectifs, presented by The Substation's Moving Images. Created by filmmaker Chai Yee Wei, former Programme Manager of The Substation's Moving Images Low Beng Kheng and current Co-Founder of Objectifs Yuni Hadi, the Singapore Short Film Awards highlights quality work done annually in the short film genre in Singapore - by seeking out new talent, reflecting current standards of the short film genre and to bring together both the veterans and the young talents as a community to create a space for networking and sharing. The SSFA programme traditionally includes a week-long schedule of film screenings and presents all Singapore shorts submitted during an open call for entries starting September to November of every year. The competition accepts films that have been made within the two years before the competition, but screened publicly only the year before the competition. There is a submission fee of $10. Screenings for SSFA are held at The Substation Theatre, with the exception of 2015, where screenings were shifted to The Projector. All screenings are entry by donation. Each year, an Honorary Award is given to an individual or organisation whom had made significant contributions to the Singapore film community through their work in short films. The Awards Ceremony is held following the end of the week-long schedule of screenings, in attendance of a Guest-of-Honour who will typically present the Honorary Award. During the first few editions, SSFA was the only platform that recognised excellence in short films in Singapore. For its 6th edition in 2015, The Substation's Moving Images became the sole organiser of the Singapore Short Film Awards.

The Substation (Chinese: 电力站) is Singapore's first independent contemporary arts centre. It was founded in 1990 by Kuo Pao Kun. The Substation is centrally located in the city's civic district and was the first building under the National Arts Council's "Arts Housing Scheme". It officially opened on 16 September 1990. The Substation is a non-profit organisation and registered Institution of Public Character in Singapore, which relies on financial and in-kind support from the general public, commercial organisations and government ministries to cover the costs of operating and developing arts & educational programmes. The Board is chaired by Chew Kheng Chuan.

The Vanguard Building, formerly known as the Malaysia Publishing House Building, or simply the MPH Building, is a historic building on the corner of Armenian Street and Stamford Road. It initially housed the Methodist Publishing House. Since 2014, it has been leased to the Singapore Management University.

The Old Tao Nan School (traditional Chinese: 舊道南學校; simplified Chinese: 旧道南学校; pinyin: Jiù Dàonán Xuéxiào) is a historic building in Singapore, located along Armenian Street in the Museum Planning Area, within the Central Area. The building was originally built for the Tao Nan School to serve the local Hokkien community, but the school has since been relocated to its current location in Marine Parade. The building was then used as a wing of the Asian Civilisations Museum, and now houses the Peranakan Museum. It was gazetted as a national monument on 27 February 1998.

Caledonian Hotel was a British-styled hotel located along Bras Basah Road in Bras Basah, Singapore. It is believed that the hotel was the only "British hotel in Singapore" at the time of its opening in the early 20th century.

Armenian Street (Chinese: 亚米尼亚街) is a street in Central Singapore located in the Museum Planning Area. The street covers a short distance that starts from Coleman Street and ends at the junction of Stamford Road and Waterloo Street. The road houses a couple of landmarks including The Substation and the Old Tao Nan School which is the Peranakan Museum, part of the Asian Civilisations Museum. The museum officially opened in 2008. The street borrowed its name from the nearby Armenian Church, and was built by George Drumgoole Coleman in 1835, making it the oldest church in the island. The street existed since Coleman's 1836 Map of Singapore, but was not named. The Chinese used to call the street seng poh sin chu au (the back of Seng Poh's new building). Tan Seng Poh, son of Tan Ah Hua, the Capitan China of Perak and brother-in-law of Seah Eu Chin was a rich 19th century opium and spirit farmer who was the first Chinese to serve on the Municipal Commission.

Art Plural Gallery is an art gallery in Singapore. It shows modern and contemporary art and design. It has been called one of the ten best contemporary art galleries in Singapore and in 2013 was named as one of the world's best new galleries.

The National Museum of Singapore is a public museum dedicated to Singapore's art, culture and history. Located within the country's Civic District at the Downtown Core, it is the oldest museum in the country, with its history dating back to when it was first established in 1849, starting out as a section of a library at the Singapore Institution as the Raffles Library and Museum. After several relocations over the next few decades, the museum moved to its current permanent site at Stamford Road in 1887. Between 1993 and March 2006, it was briefly known as the Singapore History Museum, before it returned to its present name that was first given in 1965. The museum preserves and interprets Singapore's social history, exploring the key events and people that have shaped the nation. Over the centuries, the National Museum of Singapore has expanded and undergone various expansions and renovations, with the most recent being a three-and-a-half-year restoration that was completed in 2 December 2006, and was officially reopened on 7 December 2006 by former President of Singapore S. R. Nathan and the Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Lee Boon Yang. The Singapore History Gallery opened on 8 December that same year. It is one of six national museums in the country; the other five being the two Asian Civilisations Museums at Empress Place Building and Old Tao Nan School respectively, the Singapore Art Museum, Peranakan Museum as well as the National Gallery Singapore. The National Museum of Singapore is also one of the country's national monuments, having been designated as such in 1992 by the National Heritage Board. It is one of the largest museums in Asia. Admission to the National Museum of Singapore is complimentary for Singaporean citizens and permanent residents.

The Singapore Management University (SMU) is a public autonomous university in Singapore. Established in 2000, SMU is the first publicly-funded private university in Singapore offering a style of education modelled after The Wharton School. Different from other public universities in Singapore, students can complete degree programmes in 3.5 years. In Asia, SMU ranked third, behind Hong Kong University of Science and Technology – Business School (26th worldwide) and City University of Hong Kong – College of Business (28th worldwide). SMU is also ranked in the 511–520 band in the world, and No. 11 compared to similar specialist universities in the 2021 QS World University Rankings. It has a city campus enrolling about 10,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and offers undergraduate and graduate degree programmes in business administration, business analytics, financial services, accountancy, economics, information systems management, law, and the social sciences. The university is organised into six schools, these include the School of Accountancy, the Lee Kong Chian School of Business, the School of Economics, the School of Computing and Information Systems, the Yong Pung How School of Law, and the School of Social Sciences. SMU has been awarded the Triple accreditation by AACSB International, EQUIS, and AMBA.

The Lee Kong Chian School of Business (Chinese: 李光前商学院) is Singapore Management University's (SMU) business school. Started in 2000, the school was the first to be established under the Singapore Management University's charter. It is a research-driven school, with a blend of education that focuses on academic research and industrial relevance. Faculty are hired on the basis of research or on perceived expertise in their field of study or practice. The current dean is Professor Bert De Reyck.The school was named after Lee Kong Chian after receiving a donation of SGD50 million from The Lee Foundation, a trust established by Lee and administered by Lee's children. This amount was matched by the Singapore government in a 3-to-1 ratio, thus resulting in a SGD200 million donation.

The Foundation Stone of the Monument of the Early Founders of Singapore, usually called the Early Founders Memorial Stone is a national memorial that is dedicated to the early founders ("Unknown Immigrants") of Singapore. The original idea was raised by a graduates' association and an open design competition was held for the memorial project. The foundation stone was initially erected along Collyer Quay Street outside the Fullerton Hotel in 1970. After a series of setbacks and delays, the project was finally scrapped after no worthy design was accepted, which resulted the foundation stone becoming the memorial afterwards. In 2000, the memorial was relocated to the National Archives of Singapore at Canning Rise before moving back to the grounds of The Fullerton Hotel in 2010.
